    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Hello to everyone! As I mentioned in the Discord a few days back, I've been MIA basically since the end of AA last year. And there is a reason, real life gets in the way of my internet life... Sad but true. As u/tim33z said "Real Life--"... I won't bother you much more with that. Do you know why?

CAUSE IT'S TIME FOR THE MOTHER DUNKING LATHER GAMES DUDES AND DUDETTES!!!!Yes, this spectacle of shaving bonanza that brings comfort, laughter, nostalgia and general WTF moments to each of us each year(it's my second year, but hey, I feel it as my home). What are the Lather Games you ask? While bearing resemblance of the picture portrayed and fitting the earlier description, only those who have walked the steep/shallow edges of steps that are the daily challenges/lathers/rules, can testify to What/Why/How the Lather Games are! My SOTD posts will be in a style of a review of the products I used and I'll try and be funny (and fail miserably)

I had initially planned to shave and post earlier the day, but some things got in the way...Actually I was up earlier and went to my first(sadly last) day at my summer job of doing wheel alignments on cars, turns out that there are too many people in the car shop doing it, and I won't be needed, nothing personal. I was enthusiastic, but it was more of a job to take my mind off things rather than make money etc.

Right! ENOUGH ABOUT MY LIFE THIS IS THE LATHER GAMES!!!

    THE SOAP

I'm really happy that this hobby has so many brands of soap, cause you can always try something new. I've tried a decent amount of artisans, which made making the calendar tough, but somehow (through Jesus) I did it! So why Strike Gold? Well I've always been curious what their base is like. Well it's pretty darn good, slick low-structure lather!! My only gripe is that the scent isn't particularly strong (as for the scent itself I'll talk about that at the end, #FOF style). As I said, great lather, provided great protection for the terrible shave I had....

THE SHAVEI can't even sugar coat it... It was just.... I saw also that many other people had the same choice as I did, of course they're trying to copy me... But yeah, terrible, and I did remove the guard, cause when I saw it I thought "That thing is just gonna get in the way!", I probably should be thankful that I did remove it, cause GOD ONLY KNOWS how rough it would have been. I did 2 ATG passes and it was pure torture, the way it tugged, it could probably charge 500$ on the street corner...

    MISCELLANEOUS

Thankfully tomorrow will be a much more pleasurable day, cause I will use one of the best razors out there and a sub favourite!! Was so happy when I saw the challenge tomorrow, cause this month will be a very forwards-backwards in terms of travelling. And when leaving yesterday for my hometown initially I didn't think of brining anything other than the Rolls, then I put in a couple of other razors. JUST IN CASE, THANK GOD I DID!

    AFTERSHAVE

Ok so let's talk about the other half of the Strike Gold set I used. The aftershave. Oh boy, and I thought that DG was oily.... Using this on my face was an overload of oil I did not expect... For the winter it's probably the best you can use, but for summer it's a bit too much for me, granted it is very nourishing for the skin... For those who have used it, imagine using Strike Gold aftershave + Barrister&Mann balm.... Will definitely have to use it the winter!!!!

    #FOF

This year I have put effort into mixing and matching my perfumes with my aftershaves and will try and give a good representation of them, I won't be as good as u/RedMosquitoMM, but hey, one can try...

First, let's talk about the soap. It is inspired by Eight and Bob which I have never smelled so I can't say how close it is to the original, BUT from what is described on their site, I get the first three notes spot on - citrus, spice accord, violet. The other ones are mingling and are there, but my nose cannot pinpoint them exactly! It is a great masculine, but not overly, scent that one can wear with pride and confidence. It definitely gives me an old school scent vibe.

So why John Varvatos Artisan Pure. After looking and smelling the bottles and comparing(and with the help of Fragrantica), this one is the closest to Ike for me. There is a difference in citrus accords, from Ike I get a general citrus and it's more rounded, and JV AP has a more bitter lime(maybe thanks to the ginger) tang to it. Spice accords are quite similar, with IKE being a bit more mellow. JV AP is generally a bit more sweet but both of them compliment each other VERY WELL!

The scent combo of both quickly settle into a nice sweet bouquet with spice being hinted and citrus being something of the past.

I hope I will do well with these descriptions, as being a wordsmith or a blacksmith, or anysmith is not my forte!

    EPILOGUE:

I have seen a few post, ranging from video intros, interviews, FUCKING RAP SONGS!??!?!Saw some familiar faces, and some new ones! Will get to reading everything in more detail and appreciating all of the effort that the other guys have put it! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

Quick Edit: Just saw the sponsor spotlight, sadly I know nothing about them so I am sorry that my post does not contain anything...

    Edit 2: Forgot about this

    PIC OF IR DIDN'T HAPPEN

    INTRO

Oh man was I happy to hear about today's Daily Challenge, especially after yesterday #skindonor (warning false advertisement). Moreover as soon as I saw the challenge for tomorrow I knew what had to be done.... Let's get right into it!

    DAILY CHALLENGE

Yes I shaved with the OCMM and why was I happy to hear about it? Well I did shave with it for 29 days through the whole of June and if I fell in love with the razor after the first few shaves(which were before Retro June, a challenge we made in the Bulgarian group), now consider it one of the best razors ever made!

Like many others today I probably used the OCMM. But why? Well we all know why. There is one person who's at fault for this! And his name is u/EldrormR ! I first purchased one of his awful two toned handles to put on a ER24, or MM24, together with a standard OCMM. He was such an asshole he sent me the stuff even before I paid, I was having money issues and told him I will send him the money at the end of the month, and then he can send them. But noooooo, he had to send them earlier, what a dick!

Later when I told him I really love the OCMM and I would like a fancier one, he found me one(look at it, it's horrible) for a super good deal and again sent it before giving him any sort of monetary compensation, I mean who does that. I tell you who.... People like Eld, awful people...this is why I decided to do write an Ode towards him. Here it is(I had some help from Schiller):

    ODE TO ELD

    Joy, beautiful sound of cutting

    Father of the GEMS,

We enter our bathroom, bearing your craftsmanship

    Heavenly One, thy GEM-liness!

    Thy craft unites us

    Where DE divides us,

    All shavers become brothers,

    Where thy gentle GEM abides.

Whoever has succeeded in using a GEM

Found out it’s to be a shaver’s friend,

Whoever has won a GEM PIF,

Add his to the party roster!

Yes, whoever also has just one GEM

To call his own on this r/Wetshaving forum!

And he who never managed it should slink

Weeping from sorrow above his sink!

    All r/wetshave'rs shave of joy

At the wash basin they enjoy .

All the OCMM, all the ER12/24,

    Follow their trail of sharpness.

Kisses that result in the greatest of smoothness,

A friend, proven in truthness .

    Gladly, as his work ships

through the land and over the seas

Package, shavers, it’s coming your way,

Joyful, like a new toy with which to play!

    Be embraced, Everyone!

His love to all the wetshaving world!

    Do you sense him?

    Amongst the stars he resides!

EldrormR is thy name which unites!

Now a bit of seriousness. Eld really is an awesome guy and his love for the hobby and GEM razors in particular is probably the biggest I've seen. I was infected with that love and myself now enjoy GEM razor(s) much more than previously! I enjoy them so much that some body parts may get jealous.

A bit about the razor itself. OCMM is definitely the most effective razor I've ever used, and when one gets ahold of the angles, it shaves smoothly like butter, even daily shaves can be managed quite easily, but much slower cause you need more caution. My only gripe is that I tried shaving a 10 day(give take) beard and the razor clogged like crazy, you had to open the clamp constantly.... but other than that it is sublime!!!

THE LATHER(F-ING FINALLY IT'S THE LATHER GAMES)

I think I've only used a GFS soap once before and definitely was not amused... but it fit the calendar and you know, mix and match. It's a vegan base, and it's ok, doesn't take much water, but that's normal for Italian soaps. I'm really not the biggest fan of Italian cosmetics. The scent was kind of nice though, you can feel the sea and the citrus. Gives me a reminiscence of how fried calamary smell in Greece, we have a joke about Calamari Rhodope here in Bulgaria, if anyone is curious, DM me, cause it's NSFW... But yeah, a straightforward smell, nothing special. Soap did dry my skin a bit, but that's kind of normal from what I've tried from them.

    THE AFTERSHAVE

Really didn't expect the splash to have some oils in it, second day where I'm surprised by an aftershave. It did a good job of hydrating my skin after the drying up from the soap. It's nothing special in general.

    #FOF

    Bvlgari - Aqva Amara

Why did I choose this fragrance for today? Well it's simple, while GFS gives you strong citrus with hints of a sea breeze. Aqva Amara plops you on the sand puts a fan next to you so you can experience all the sea smells tenfold and when you start to enjoy it someone comes up to your face and spritzes you with a citric extract. It really is a great representation of being on the beach under the shade of an umbrella(those beach ones) and sipping a wonderful cold orange cocktail cooling you off.

    EPILOGUE

Everything is going great so far, I hope I managed to give a good tribute to one of the forum's great guys who has sparked love for razors long before us and am waiting for tomorrow's day, lather and challenge!

DAY 3 LATHER GAMES! ALMOND SHMALMOND!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Timeless Ti 0.95 SB #CNC
    • Blade: Minora (14)
    • Lather: Cella - Original(Red)
    • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Z Aftershave Balm
    • Fragrance: Lalique - Encre Noire

PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN(it is cella inside, just different container, don't ask why)

    INTRO

Another glorious summer day, another glorious summer shave! This thing with announcing the Daily challenges ahead of time reaaaally does help and makes for good ideas giving people time for their artistic flow to flow!

    SOAP

I really am not the biggest fan of almonds, but hey, people seem to like it! Last year I used Almond Leather by HoM, but that was too bitter for me, so this year I decided to go with Cella, the classic Italian soap/cream. It is a much more sweet rendition of the almond scent which makes for a better experience(for me). It is my first time using THIS Cella, but it is probably on par lather wise with the Bio Cella. I much rather prefer the scent on the Bio Cella though. Unlike the soap from yesterday, this one did not dry up my skin, which was nice.

    THE RAZOR

Right! Since I was in such a good mood I opted to use my favourite razor, which was actually from my LG prize from last year, the Timeless Ti 0.95! I have not tried as many razors as some people here, but I've probably hit the 40-50 mark. And I have even tried a Wolfman. Still to this day the Timeless Ti 0.95 is my favourite by far! The feel that is similar to a warm knife going through butter I get, when sliding the razor across my face, combined with the lack of blade chatter of any sort provides me with the smoothest of shaves + no irritation! The person whom I will always thank my stars that helped me choose this magnificent razor is none other that u/sgrdddy. He provided me with a long and extensive answer to all my questions, and helped me choose my favourite DE, many thanks again!!

    THE AFTERSHAVE

Well, I didn't have an almond scented aftershave, so I decided to take a safe route and go unscented, bonus for me, having in mind it's not something that I enjoy. Some know, some might not know but HoM Balms, ARE THE SHIT(outdated phrase but bear with me). And no, it's not this type of shit. It's this type! Literally the best balm one can use, it's hydrating, it's nourishing, it doesn't leave any greasiness, do yourself a favour. GET YOURSELF A HOM BALM!!!

    DAILY CHALLENGE

This will be posted under my initial comment, due to limit of characters, sorry...

    #FOF

I really was stumped as to what perfume to use, that can somehow match it with the almond theme. It may not really match, but after much sniffing and wiping of the nose, I came to the conclusion that Lalique - Encre Noire is the right choice. It is dark indeed and very sweet, somehow amplifying the sweetness of the scent that Cella gives off. People say it is a Terre d'Hermes copy, but I really cannot see it. Strangely enough given the notes from fragrantica, while I can smell the cypress, there is a huge deal of sweetness which dominates my nose and really while checking most of the reviews, none of them resonated with me. While it was difficult for me to choose and while on paper it may not be, the best match, for me it is a harmonious completion for the shave!

DAY 3 LATHER GAMES! Test Subject MTS(MrTangerineSky), experiment #7423

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: OUMO 30mm SHD G5A Fan knot synthetic #COMPOSITE #FAUXFUR #PREMIUMPLASTIC #SHD
    • Razor: Henson AL 13 Medium #RAINBOW
    • Blade: Nacet(1)
    • Lather: Nordic Shaving Company - Lilac
    • Post Shave: MacDuff's Soap Company - Spring Cabin Splash
    • Fragrance: John Varvatos - Artisan

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    DAILY CHALLENGE+SOAP+LATHERING+SHAVING+AFTERSHAVE

"The Shaving Association" has been monitoring and studying subject MTS for about 3 years now. He has proven that he truly has a passion for this style of life.

Today's experiment has a couple of highlights:

    • SOAP - When given an extensive list of premium products, test subject chose Nordic Shaving company. An odd choice, but we obliged nonetheless. MTS chose to use precisely 0.65 grams of soap, which is around the usual amount based on what we've documented as an average of 100+ shaves. Subject decided to go to his usual bowl lathering method, and spent an exact time of 2 minutes and 5 seconds completing his lather making process. Around 4-5 months ago, subject started weighing his water used to make a lather. During today's experiment the amount of water used was 18 grams, which flustered the test subject, cause he is used to using around 28(B&M) to 33(DG) grams depending on which artisan he is using. Main preferences are American based artisianal soap makers. After the shave was completed, there was the usual verbal confrontation with the subject, so we could get a deeper understanding of how he functions. Naturally he had questions about why, the lather behaved differently than what he was used to and what were the reasons behind that, so we explained it to him. It's simply the fact that Nordic Shaving Company's soap base is Coconut Oil forwarded, meaning it is full of Lauric&Myristic fatty acids which do not make for a good lather, they(Lauric&Myristic acids) are also very harsh on the skin. More on the subject here!(HR has warned us that our reports are too long so we're trying to keep them shorter)
    • RAZOR - This was another key moment in today's experiment, which did not please MTS as much as we'd hoped. He was offered a variety of razors, of which he chose a Henson razor, one with which he was infatuated for a long time, but today's shave gave a different result. During the passing years test subject MTS has tried a variety of different razors and has narrowed down what he prefers and what he doesn't, but seeing he hadn't used the Henson razor in quite some time he wanted to relive some happy memories. That was not the case. Using a Nacet blade, which is a preferred blade by the subject, he did two ATG passes, the first of which proved almost fruitless. Filled with determination to get a good shave, he had to add a significant amount of pressure to the razor so that it would cut deep enough giving an acceptable shave. This did not result in any irritation, but it was a rough shave(feel wise) nonetheless.
    • AFTERSHAVE - It was the first time that the test subject had used this scent and was giggling with excitement like a small child. Mostly because he was transported to his childhood memories of sprintime in the woods. Flowers and trees blooming, freshness surrounding. Walking through the woods and eating a fresh apple or tangerine while being serenaded by the chirping birds! That was what MRT described to us what the aftershave smelled like to him!

Experiment #4723 was a moderate success, clocked at 15 minutes, and we here at "The Shaving Association" are happy with how well MTS is progressing and we hope that one day he could be recruited and be part of the examining committee!

    #FOF

Right, enough of this scheit... I've spoken about myself so much in the third person in the last few paragraphs that I can literally vomit....

This is the fragrance I chose for today, John Varvatos - Artisan. So far in this year's LG it is THE BEST I've gotten as a result of combining an aftershave with a perfume. Don't get me wrong the previous ones were good, but more on the OK side, I still am very happy I actually put some effort this time around cause it definitely shows, for me at least. it's not just some rando perfume with your Aftershave just to get points. Someday I will definitely get more into perfumes and become a RedMosquito myself, or a cheap imitation but either way, someone who is really in the perfume world.

What really stood out today from this combo are the feeling that are evoked deep inside of me. Sitting there on a table next to your mother, she's peeling tangerines for you and granting you warmth with her smile and affection, all while it's gloomy outside and it's pouring. That happiness can be matched by very few things. And if the shave wasn't the best, the scents afterwards surely made up for it!!!

LAST AND CERTAINLY NOT LEAST! HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO ALL CELEBRATING

DAY 5 LATHER GAMES! Man do I not like drug store products... #MOANPOST

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: Zenith MOAR BOAR #OLDWORLD
    • Razor: Gillette British Rocket #REGUS
    • Blade: Nacet(2)
    • Lather: Kapo - Classic shaving cream
    • Post Shave: Kapo - Classic aftershave splash
    • Fragrance: Avon - Full Speed Surfer

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    INTRO:

Right, I don't want to really moan about the daily theme, it's more about what is offered here at Bulgaria. I mean you guys can go and get Pinaud Clubman at your stores, that's awesome! Even though we had classical wet-shaving tradition here in Bulgaria, they are ALMOST long gone, good thing is that there is a re-birth of the hobby(in general) so we may see things going better in the future. Fingers crossed!

    LATHER:

Man.... People say that the old Kapo(it's pronounced Karo for people who might be interested) was waaaaaay better than this new one, honestly I have no idea, cause it was before my time, but boy was it an average at best lather... The less I say, the better. There are other options, but all of em are just good enough to get the job done....

    RAZOR:

Last time I used this was either during the last LG or the Atlas Shaves during February last year. It's my grandpa's razor and it's waiting it's turn for my wallet to fill up a bit so it can go on a replating trip to the USA and be restored to it's former glory! As a shaver it provided me with a much better shave than yesterday's Henson shave. Only gripe I have, and that was a problem also last February, is that the TTO knob untwists itself and sometimes you realize a bit too late.... Other than that, great shavers, old Gillettes shave great!

    BRUSH:

Now, the MOAR BOAR!!! Most of you here are familiar with this brush. I'm usually a synthetic kind of guy, but when I saw that there were some left unacclaimed I jumped the gun! The brush is great and gorgeous, only one tiiiiny-teeeeny problem. THIS THING EATS SOAP LIKE IT'S AT A HOT DOG EATING COMPETITION.... It's a problem cause I'm the type of guy who wants to get the most shaves out of a soap. But for creams that are cheap, pfff no problem chug a away! It is very soft, even during the first shave after being soaked for 5-6 minutes it was a great massage to make lather on my face!! Thank you all that were behind this project!!

    AFTERSHAVE:

One of the worst smelling things I've used. And it's not in a bad way, it's just so generic and chemical(maybe I've become a snob, who knows).... It's probably the scent of the products that make me moan the most about this daily challenge.

    DAILY CHALLENGE:

Wax poetic about my perfect scent I would create, if I had the possibility of doing so? Man I wish I was Red at this moment.... He's gonna be pretty annoyed that I tagged him, cause I've been crying about it since at least a year, but u/mammothben knows how I would love if he made an ANGLE GRINDER scented soap! Yup you heard me right! That's my favourite smell in the world!!! Why? Who knows maybe I was left for a day or two by my mother near a construction site, but then she reconsidered and took me back. Maybe it's all those times I've helped my father with angle grinding stuff. Or maybe I'm just a bit loose in the head.

But this is stuff I've ranted about before. Since the past year some great fragrances have passed through my nose, here's a list:

    • The Rambler by Zingari man
    • Delta V by Declaration Grooming
    • Sutton Distilled by First Line Shaving
    • Valedictorian by Summer Break Soaps

These are just new ones from the past 5-6 months, added to a list of a few others(FG, STAG, TOBACCONIST) I also consider masterpieces. But having smelled all these fragrances I'm not sure I can make something that is better than them, again angle grinder is more a meme than anything else(even though I would love the idea). If I did have to create one it would be something as follows:

    • Top Notes: Sea Breeze, Bergamot
    • Middle Notes: Oud, Honey, Bubble Gum
    • Base Notes: Asphalt, Smoke, Tar

How does this all fit together? On paper it doesn't, in my head it's magnificent!! To each their own I guess!

    #FOF

I'll try and keep this one short, cause it's already a long post. I chose Avon, cause it's something that is easily available and it's also very generic and fits the scent theme of the cream and aftershave. Scent wise today was awful... Nothing more to add!

DAY 6 LATHER GAMES! RACK EM STACK EM!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: OUMO 30mm SHD G5A Fan knot synthetic
    • Razor: Timeless Ti 0.95 SB
    • Blade: Minora (15)
    • Lather: House of Mammoth - Tobacconist
    • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Tobacconist Splash
    • Fragrance: House of Mammoth - Tobacconist EdP

STACKING PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!

    DAILY CHALLENGE:

I'm kind of annoyed, cause I really wanted to add two more items on top, but after loosing an OSMA(one I opened up half a month ago) and another drop of the EdP(didn't break thank God) I gave it up. It's not the best stack, cause I could have done better, but it'll have to do!

    LATHER+SHAVE+WHATEVER ELSE

I chose HoM Tobacconist, cause it IS the 2021 scent of the year, don't care what anyone else says! It is definitely one of my all time favourites!! Furthermore Tusk base is at the top tied with Declaration Grooming. Basically HoM products are top of the top cosmetic and scent wise!

This is gonna be my #FOF in general, cause it's all the same scent.

What is Tobacconist? It is not just some fragrance, no, it is more than that. As the ancient greek philosopher's thoughts were transcending way beyond their time so does this masterpiece. The description says that you should imagine going into a tobacco shop. I say you go into a tobacco shop into the woods, where the shop itself is a house made out of massive tree trunks and when entering you can smell all the different, almost palpable, nuances of Tobacco. What compliments this cocktail of tobacco are the scent notes of dried fruits, amber, spices and a hint of sweetness brough by coumarin. I would not say it is a manly rugged smell, like STAG, cause it is more than that. It is a complex sophisticated scent which makes you stand out. This is one of my most complimented scents I've ever used. Women frolic around me in amazement as soon as I enter a room and ask me "WOW What is that perfume you are wearing...!!?!?!?"

Smelling great and feeling smooth I am gonna finish this comment with a small poem(it's cheesy but it's from MAH HART) for Ben( u/mammothben sorry for tagging you two days in a row)

There once was a man called Ben
He made soaps/afters and EdP's for men
He even told me once he had a hen

    His devotion knows no bounds
And what he makes never confound
His fragrances are like musical sounds

Tobacconist took him 2 years to make
There was probably a lot at stake
But he did not make a mistake

May he always make products so fine
Neigh! I should say even more so, divine!
May his character always be so bening

I raise a toast to you, with my cup of red wine!

    Cheers Ben!

DAY 7 LATHER GAMES! CHECK & MATE MATE!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Parker Adjustable
    • Blade: Schick Proline B20(?)
    • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company - Seaforth! Spiced
    • Post Shave: Barrister&Mann - Spice
    • Fragrance: John Varvatos - Vintage

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    INTRO+SOAP+RAZOR+SHAVE

Right, let's get into the nitty gritty! Why is there a chessboard in the photo and the title of the day, well that's for the daily challenge part, HOLD YER 'ORSES!

So Spearhead, as many other I have chosen this brand for today, I was wondering some time before the lather games if SSL would be a viable option, and now I see it is! But I'm happy with my choice, I ain't gonna use a false King(SSL won scent of the year here in 2021), when Tobacconist is out there!(HATERS GONNA HATE)

So, Spiced! It is truly not a Old Spice dupe, not from my own experience, cause I wasn't around the time that the OLD Old Spice was used/popular, but based on other dupes I can see why it is not considered a dupe. It has much more of a Mandarin/Tangerine accord that overpowers your nose, combined with spices. It is a great scent on it's own!

But not as good as B&M Spice. Now that's a straight up OG scent. I've followed all of u/cowzilla3's posts of THE GREAT SPICE OFF, and while I have not tried Soap Commander, if there ever was a scent that I could say "DAYUM! This smells like Old Spice", Spice by B&M would be that scent! I think there is something in the ingredients that my skin/body doesn't agree cause I had a fun interaction when splashing it on my face!

Right. Razor! The Parker Variant, this is the version 2.0, and I don't know what the difference is between 1.0 and 2.0 but to the people that say this is a mild razor, you can go and... Last time I used it was probably last LG, or even before that... But it's a good shaver, just you have to be careful with it. The (?) I put next to it has to do with the fact I have fuckall of an idea when it was last used or which use it was, but it still shaves.

    Right, enough of this...

    DAILY CHALLENGE

MAN AM I GONNA NERD ON YOU!!! CHESS TIME BABY!!!

You might ask "Really? Chess? You seem crazy enough, ain't you got any other hobbies?", better not to, ask u/J33pGuy13 why it's better to go with a safe route!

I've been playing chess for my whole life since I was a kid, sometimes it's been on and off, and other times it has been quite consistent for long periods of time. While I am not some GM or IM(and I'll never be) I can appreciate the game and am a decent amateur(rating around 1200-1300).

Ever since the pandemic there has been a big boom in the chess community (which is nice in general, but could get quite toxic and salty), and there was even a cheating scandal involving anal vibrating beads!(no joke)

To get an idea of the community, watch this video!

    Quick explanation what's going on:

    - In the beginning the two guys, GM(Grandmaster) Eric Hansen(left) and GM Hikaru Nakamura(right and number 2 in the world rankings) are finishing a game, later they go out to duke it out(cause Nakamura was salty AF) WITHOUT throwing punches, only brawling. The guys on the porch watching are GM Fabiano Caruana(number 3 in the world rankings) and GM Yaser Seirawan(real big name in chess world). You can hear GM Yasser say how he is keeping Hikaru's ring and money, but he's hoping that he'll forget about the money. So basically you have this uber big talent playing chess at a frat party and brawling it out.... And you thought chess was boring.

Now I'm gonna confuse you with some jargons in chess with real life examples.

    • En passant - you know when you do a drive through a McDonalds? Now do that without the car and you got "en passant"
    • Fossilizing - You know when your wife tells you she's pregnant, but just when you've gotten back to reality she tells you it's twins? That's "Fossilizing"
    • Check Mate - You know when the IRS knocks on your door for tax evasion? That's "Check Mate"

And to leave this daily challenge with a totally WTF mindfuck explanation about what chess is, here you go:

So not taking into perspective modern times, in Chess the Queen in olden times was a woman/girl, right?
Right! And any pawn can promote into a Queen, so that means that all pawns are women/girls and pawns can turn into any piece except the King, who is male. So that means that ALL pieces except for the King are female!
SO BASICALLY! Chess is a harem war between two kings where they take each other's harem member one by one!

So next time anyone says Chess is boring, you tell them it's SEXY AS FUCK!

    #FOF

Don't want to make this post TOO LONG(maybe it's already late), it's just the combination of the splash and this EdP. Really clicked for me. John Varvatos adds a bit of freshness and brightness to the mix, cause I find Spice by B&M is a bit of a dark(in the good sense) scent. So it was another winner in my books!

DAY 7 LATHER GAMES! I GOTTA QUESTION BOUT A THANG!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: OCMM
    • Blade: GEM PTFE (16)
    • Lather: Maggard Razors - Tobacco and Leather Shave Soap
    • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Tobacconist Aftershave Balm
    • Fragrance: John Varvatos - Dark Rebel

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    RAZOR+SOAP+BLA BLA BLA

So this time it was probably one of the shortest shaves, I probably scooped too much soap(t'was around 0.4 grams but still), cause I only did one pass with the OCMM which was a combo of ATG and XTG. Yesterday that Parker did me over and there was barely anything to shave today...

It's the first time I used Tobacco and Leather and it was definitely not what I expected. Off the sample I get almonds, from all of the things in the world.... Didn't that day pass already?Strange... But when lathering it up it kind of disappeared and was substituted by a nice and sweet smell. My guess is that the harsh almond like smell is the same I get from Cuero Oscuro by Wholly Kaw, that soap smells straight like shoe polish, it's quite brutal and direct, but I like it!(surprise, surprise)

Post shave was the AMAZING HoM balm, GO BUY ONE OF THOSE DAMN BALMS AND THANK ME LATER!!!

    DAILY CHALLENGE:

Now last year I got robbed, cause someone had the same idea as me, but was quicker than I was with the wicked_edge challenge. This year, I DID NOT SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE, NOT ONE BIT(no joke actually), just so I can rest assured that I have posted my daily question in the DQ thread and be the FIRST to do so! Which is quite fitting. Cause in my experience people who talk/write like this are THE MOST IMPATIENT MOTHER DUCKERS.....

And I'll give you an example how the convo went, keep in mind this is between the time of 00:00-02:00....:

NewGuyToTheGroup: Hey, I got these new WK and A&E soaps, but now I need a razor, what can you recommend to me?
Me: Yeah, sure what's your budget, usually people start with Merkur 34C or Muhle R89.
NewGuyToTheGroup: What else can you recommend up to a 100$?
Me: Well Razorock Game Changer is a pretty good bet usually, pretty good bang for buck!
NewGuyToTheGroup: WHAT ABOUT THIS RAZOR?(Proceeds to send me a 100$ AliExpress copy of an old french razor)
Me: Dunno man, I don't have much experience with those, but I wouldn't trust something out of AliExpress, FOR THAT AMMOUNT OF MONEY, especially when it's a nobody knows razor.

At this point the guy stopped answering and the night went on, I got home at around 6 in the morning and the dude messaged me:

NewGuyToTheGroup: YO I GOT THIS SICK ASS RANDO RAZOR(which was never even mentioned either by me or him)!!! IT'S SO COOL!!!
Me:......(inwardly towards myself, why did you ask me.... why?!?!?! Man just go suck a dick)

And this has not been the only case....

Edit1: Great big thanks to Maggards for their generosity, cause it was with their 150$ gift card that I was able to get my Timeless razor!!!!

Edit2: Daily Question topic is a great place where one can get answers to even the most intricate shaving questions, cause this sub is filled with people that are just incredibly smart and kind to help!!!

    #FOF

Honestly the past few days I'm so smashed... I barely get the energy of doing a decent SOTD, but I'll try and be better than yesterday. I know I've been John Varvatos-ing it mainly, but they are the ones that I am mainly familiar with and it's easier to pair them with the soaps I used, especially the first few days. I really was wondering with WHAT can I combine Dark Rebel, cause it's definitely a STANK scent! Very heavy, VEEEERY! After smelling the soap I thought that it would match, to be honest it's not the best match with the Tobacconist balm, but I've had much worse, like last year's LG, where I just use something, somewhere and the results more often than naught were terrible.... Dark Rebel has that stank to the leather which I pick up from the soap. It really is a Noir type of scent, something out of a small jazz club in the 60's that has it's halls filled with cigarette smoke combined with cheap leather jackets!

DAY 9 LATHER GAMES! I DON'T DRINK COFFEE AT HOME!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Forkette
    • Blade: Nacet(1)
    • Lather: Catie's Bubbles - Irish Coffee
    • Post Shave: Macduffs Soap Company - Royal Earl Grey splash
    • Fragrance: Rochas - Moustache

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Video(sorry judges, tried to be short)

    SOAP+SHAVE+SHENANIGANS

Well compared to last year where I lived in the student dormitories now I am renting a wonderful spacious apartment, AND IT HAS A KITCHEN!

I was thinking, what crazy contraption can I make to shave with, sadly nothing came up so I used my forkette #FORKETTEBABY. Could have probably made a spoonette but it doesn't quite have the same ring to it, maybe next year I can staple a blade to something...

But even though I decided using a forkette, when it rains it pours... To make this divine tool of shaving you just need to tape together two forks, but I had basically run out of tape and it being sunday, didn't have many options to go and find some more..... I used my 2 cm of tape and then tried binding it with some string... It was a total failure as you can see in the video, for which I do apologize....

Anyways I was wondering how else could I pimp out my shave. During the last year I've used several liquids to make lather with, including beer and motor oil. All have been done with this work horse of a brush, I use it for such occasions cause it's cheap and replaceable. So today I brewed myself some black loose leaf tea and used the tea itself to make the lather in combination with Cattie's Bubbles. It turned out great, I even included some of the loose leafs for an exfoliating effect, you know cause these days when people hear EXFOLIATING, they wet their pants from excitement....

The scent of the black tea did not intervene with the soap. Irish Coffee is much more of a sweet gourmand scent than what I would expect from coffee, mainly cause I usually drink my coffee black(if I decide to have one).

So the shave was quite successful in my opinion and so far tea has been the best substitute for water, to create a lather, don't try motor oil kids!

    BONUS ROUND: AFTERSHAVE

Macduff never fail to amaze me with how consistently good their scents are! It's just wow, so fresh, yet deep! I've yet to see a weak Macduff scent, in terms of how well it's made. Still don't have a favourite, but I think that their Metheglin scent might change that(I love raspberries). But all in due time!

Why is it a bonus round? I WANNA GRIPE ABOUT THE DAMN BOTTLES!!!!

Other than A&E, I can't remember who uses these type of bottles, but in the future DON'T, PLEASE! WHY, why do you use these specific bottles, no matter how tightly you screw the cap on you can just at it the wrong way and it'll unscrew cause it clenched it's butthole too tight from your stare.... Seriously, it's probably the worst damn bottle that anyone can use to put their aftershave in....

    #FOF

Similar to the Almond situation I was a bit flustered about what to use. My choice of fragrance is Moustache by Rochas. The Vanilla+Bulgarian rose accord paired up really well with the sweetness of Irish Coffee and also with the Lavender+Amyris in the aftershave by Macduff! And the spiciness really really gave it that cinnamon on top of coffee feel! The whole fragrance experience was similar to a warm hug during a cold winter day(pay no attention to the scorching temperatures).

DAY 10 LATHER GAMES! BA DUM TSS!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Blackland Razors - Vector
    • Blade: Chinese blade(2)
    • Lather: Declaration Grooming - Fake Yellow Light soap
    • Post Shave: Declaration Grooming - Fake Yellow Light splash
    • Fragrance: Declaration Grooming - Fake Yellow Light EdP

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    INTRO:

Oh I was so happy for today's shave, cause I got my Vector back and I used one of my favourite scents EVER!. I finished listening to the podcast and I am trying to make my posts shorter, but at the same time I'm trying to fill them with content.

    RAZOR:

This. Is. MY FAVOURITE RAZOR EVER!!!! I almost feel dumb I didn't choose it last year from the LG reward pool, but then I wouldn't have had a titanium razor, bla bla... Honestly nothing(we don't count straights) shaves me as good as this razor. And Shane has one of the best customer support I've ever seen! No other razor has been able to shave me to an ULTRA BBS(20-22 hours) 3 days in a row without destroying my skin! I will probably use the Vector for most of my shaves till the rest of the LG, just of how good and convenient it is! These are my stantings on razors:

    STRAIGHTS>AC>GEM=INJECTOR>DE

Some people might not agree, most people actually probably won't, but hey, it's how I LIKE IT!

    DAILY CHALLENGE:

While I am an artist, I AIN'T NO PICASSO! Last year I did a hand drawing with a pencil and it was.. OK... This year I tried with MS PAINT(out of all the things to choose from) and I did give it quite some effort, still looks awful... Look for yourself

BUT, what I did put effort into, was THIS masterpiece! Now... Some of you may see a squished up image.... I am tagging u/InfernalInternal cause he said he'd help with the task of the djudjes being able to see it how it should be seen. But if you truly want to see PURE GOLD!! When on PC, choose the option "Open Image in new tab", you'll thank me lather!

    #FOF

Now I had problems with DG in the past, in particular, lathering it, making a great lather. Thankfully u/FMKJuli's posts at the end of July last year, helped me a lot with learning how to make a great lather(the secret it patience). So when learning it quickly became my favourite soap as such tied together with HoM. Now the only thing was to find a fragrance I liked, cause I had smelled a few of their soaps and none so far gave me that exhilarating thrill that you get when you know you've hit a banger(scent wise).

So during the Black Friday I just made an almost blind purchase, u/sgrdddy helped with a suggestion, and got my trifecta of Fake Yellow Light. I was so nervous if I would like it... I shouldn't have been....

It's just wow, I don't think I've ever experienced such a warm and embracing fragrance. Oh the chestnut, oh the walnut, oh the vanilla baby, oh the leather, oh the tobacco... They blend so well, it's like going into the Sistine chapel, I was just speechless of how much I liked it. It's kind of like warm rain pouring over you on a hot steamy day... Whoever says it has almonds, they lied, no almonds!(at I don't get that scent, thank God) I'm trying to put it into words cause it's such a complex fragrance. Probably cause on their own site, they don't give instructions, they say the scents listed are in no particular order...(I just really suck at descriptions, but if you could take a look at my face, you'd see how happy this fragrance makes me) Initially I would say it opens up with a strong vanilla which after some time gives way to the earthy-ness of the chestnut+walnut combo and it ends with the leather and cognac!

Although it probably is an autumn fragrance, I wear this stuff all year round!!! If it smells good, it smells good! Fuck the seasons!

EDIT: Here's the song FYL was inspired from!

DAY 11 LATHER GAMES! SUNSCREEN TIME!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: Zenith 2004/B SE
    • Razor: Henson AL 13
    • Blade: Feather(1)
    • Lather: Chicago Grooming Co. - Montrose Beach
    • Post Shave: - Chicago Grooming Co. - Montrose Beach splash
    • Fragrance: 4711 - 4711 Original Eau de Cologne

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    SHAVE:

So today's shave was muuuuuuch better than last time and I give it all to the Feather blade, since I wanted everything to be colour coordinated I HAD to use the Henson! Sad part was, that I was in such a hurry that I couldn't enjoy my shave... Why sad? Check out in the next part.

    SOAP:

Well I may have mentioned earlier, but I did use THIS exact soap for 30 days during June, and grew fond of it, accustomed to it. It became like my second nature. Why did I use this soap for 30 days? Well cause the scent was INCREDIBLE! I have not smelled another summer/beach scent like this ever, Shore by DG comes close, but this one is just you and the beach. Sitting there on your towel under the shade of your beach umbrella, getting the sea breeze through your face, feeling sprays of salt water from the crashing waves on the seashore. That's it, just perfect!!!! And the soap base is veeeeeeeeery good, also super economic soap(I know most people don't care about that). So yeah, I had to rush a shave with one of the most enjoyable and nostalgic/reminiscent soaps that I have used, of recent times.

    DAILY CHALLENGE:

Ugh.... I am so annoyed I didn't have time to make a proper photo today... I wanted to include the CaYuen bowl and the Henson razor, but noooo. Why can't I use them now? Cause the lighting is so shit that no matter what you do, they just screw up the whole colour theme of the shave.... So after an hour of taking photos and rendering them THIS is the best I could do... Honestly I'm pissed... I should have listened to u/raymoonie when he told me that I should buy a lightbox, well he didn't tell me, I asked how he makes such gorgeous photos. A lightbox would have fixed my issue. But nooooo I gotta go and spend it all on soaps and aftershaves....

    #FOF

Why 4711? Well cause it's damn classic and out of all the scents I cross checked with Montrose Beach this one fit perfectly! Well almost, the citrus peel smell is a bit more than I would like, but it does bring summer to your skin!

P.S- Because my post today is as dry as a well done steak, I was gonna share a story about my stupid youth and how one summer while drunk I chose to vomit off the terrace, instead of the bathroom, all over some people's laundry that they hung to dry, but the story got long so I opted not to include it. I can just imagine Jeep if he reads this.

DAY 12 LATHER GAMES! FLUFF EM UP BOYS!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Merkur Progress #DIAL
    • Blade: Feather(2)
    • Lather: Black Ship Grooming Co. - Hoptoberfest
    • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Alive aftershave balm
    • Fragrance: Issey Miyake - Nuit d’Issey
    • Beer: Primator - 24

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    INTRO:

Like probably most of you here, or a lot, or a few(I pray for a few)! I started out with Proraso, TOBS and even went as far to get fancy and get Le Pere Lucien, still have my first metal tin of their unscented soap(funnily enough it smells of pork lard). It's ok, one thing though, that I like are their scent, LPL make simple but very well done scents, so they have at least that going for them, unlike italian soapmakes.... But after I tried my first few American artisans, my perspective changed, of course with a lot of reading and trying, one particular post turned everything around for me. READ IT AND WEEP(ALSO LEARN)

After learning to make a decent lather, I quickly found out how much coconut based soaps sucks compared to most of the American artisans.

    SOAP+BEER:

I chose this particular artisan cause it goes great while having a beer, even making the lather with the beer you are drinking!(more on that a bit later)

Yes my choice(nation wise) is in contradiction to what I was saying earlier, but I did say MOST American artisans. Some still stick to the old European formulas, which are based on coconut oil. But why coconut oil? Well coconut oil is rich in Lauric fatty acids, SEE FOR YOURSELVES. Those fatty acids really help with making the lather explode and bulk up, but at the same time makes the lather aerated and dries your skin out... Coconut oil is also comedogenic, did you know that?

One other reason why I chose this soap cause it is a bit unique in the sense it has HOPS inside of it, and contrary to the coffee/tee challenge where I put actual tee inside the lather for exfoliating effect, here you can definitely feel it and it's pleasant. Scent is not that beer forwarded keeping in mind it has actual hops inside of it. They say "subtle" hints of pear. Mother duckers, that's all I get, which is not bad, makes for a fresh shave, and onto why I chose this beer!

Now the beer, oh boy this is a strong one, I'm still a bit buzzed after drinking it, it's 10.5% alcohol, whereas most beers here are around 5. I chose this one cause of the sweet caramel and fruit taste which goes great with the soap, just wish it wasn't that strong, so I could enjoy at least 2.

    RAZOR:

Nah fuck that bruv, there are more interesting stuff...

    DAILY CHALLENGE:

Reverse lather!!?!?! I'm a bowl latherer and it was very strange to use my face to lather.... I mean look for yourself.... Video of me face lathering.

I mean you guys are just weird... Face lathering... I guess different strokes for different folks

    #FOF

I paired up Hoptoberfest with Alive cause the apple and pear just go so good together and Alive adds a lot of warmth to the whole experience! Why then Nuid d'Issey by Issey Miyake. Well cause it further elevates that warmth with adding sweetness to the mix, while it may not be noted in the scent notes, my notes interpret the leather and wood notes as sweet ones, particularly in this scent and in the end you get a nice fresh fruity start with the soap, add a bit of warmth with alive and finish it with solidifying the warmth and making it ever so sweet!

DAY 13 LATHER GAMES! MAKE LATHER NOT FOAM!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Univinlions Chinese AC Kamisori #KAMISORI
    • Blade: Chinese(3)
    • Lather: Abbate Y La Mantia - Matteo 9,11
    • Post Shave: Abbate Y La Mantia - Matteo 9,11 splash
    • Fragrance: Chanel - Bleu de Chanel

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    SOAP

I know yesterday was fluffy day... But this was way worse than I remembered/expected... Don't know about Abbate Y La Mantia's new(kind of) hard base, but this is from the older ones, around 2 years ago and it sucks ass......

But more importantly when I tried it for the first time 2 years ago I was impressed with the scent, I had never before smelled something that quite so different from the other scents. It literally smelled like an Eastern Orthodox church. We here in Bulgaria burn candles, for the living and the dead, also myrrh and frankincense are burned in the church so it transports you there while you shave, at least it does for me.

    RAZOR:

This was the first time I think I used a Kamisori style razor, and it was quite pleasant and comfortable to use. The Japanese really knew what they were doing when doing this design, still yet to try a real Kamisori, but that day will come eventually! Very stable shave overall, quite happy with how it turned out!!

    DAILY CHALLENGE:

Well since I already knew what the soap+after combo would be and how the scent made me feel, I went for the boring professional route!

    Mozart - Requiem in D minor K. 626

Since I am a slow shaver, I did put it on during the shave and got through more than half of it. Now most of you might think, 50 minutes!?!?!? Ain't nobody got time for that. And it is true in this age that everything moves so fast and things are getting shorter, look at Youtube shorts... But I am a professional classical musician and it brings me great joy to be able to appreciate such genius works as the one I am sharing with you.

I'm gonna give a bit of explanation for those who might be interested or don't know:

    • What is a Requiem?
A Requiem or Requiem Mass, also known as Mass for the dead is a Mass of the Catholic Church offered for the repose of the soul or souls of one or more deceased persons, using a particular form of the Roman Missal. It is usually celebrated in the context of a funeral.
    • Is there only one Requiem?
Nope, many famous composers have written Requiems like: Haydn, Brahms, Berlioz, Verdi.
    • What's so special about this one?
Well, many things. It was the last piece that Mozart wrote. He wrote it/dictated it on his dying bed. It's complexity and sacral combination of sounds make it the most unique out of all the Requiems. It was was finished by Franz Sussmayr a year after Mozart's death. And many more things!
    • Is it possible to get a Requiem written for you after you die?
YES! But you have to win the Lather Games first! That is one of the criteria that was decided couple of hundred years ago!

    #FOF

It's really hard to find something that matches the scent of an Eastern Orthodox church, but the closest I can get is Bleu de Chanel. It's almost on the verge of non-existing, especially in the beginning but you can get a whiff of it, having in mind it's a base note, you have to wait for a bit for the scent to develop and actually get the incense to be more dominant. Can't say I'm really pleased with this combo, but I try to tie the products, scent wise, the best I can...

    • Fragrance: Hermes - Terre d'Hermes

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    DAILY CHALLENGE+EVERYTHING ELSE

YOU GUYS WANNA SCRUB IT UP!?!?! LET'S FUCKING GO!!!!

So to be in the spirit of the theme of the soap today, I took a cold shower today, and I mean COLD, as cold as it could get, it took me around 15-20 minutes to get the dial to the coldest point it could get, BUT I GOT THERE! Having in mind it's 90 F in the apartment it was pleasant to go out of the bathroom shaking like I'm about to have hypothermia and be welcomed by nice and pleasant apartment heat....

Let's get one thing straight, I don't do cold showers, the amount of times I've had cold showers I can probably count on the fingers of both of my hands, so it's a very rare occasion!!

Now I wanted to use Cryogen soap, cause it's wicked sick, buuuut I had other plans for CF so had to opt for a Bulgarian artisan, which is of course, COCONUT BASE... Funnily enough, MUCH BETTER than ABYLM from yesterday....

    NOW! For the challenge!

Here's a video(warning, cut my lip and it got bloody) of my challenge(don't worry it's short)

So you know, habits are a great and terrible thing. Usually I start WTG and then whatever else follows, and when you're starting WTG, your hand always goes down towards the floor, right? RIGHT! And when reading the challenge yesterday I was thinking "Wow.... How am I gonna be able to do this, I mean my habits won't let me start moving my hand towards the ceiling....", but then I HAD A GENIUS IDEA! What if I shaved ATG while doing a headstand, that means my hand will go towards the floor and I'll be able to complete the daily challenge and get the points. So that's just what I did and recorded it, for the sake of science and facts!

It went kind of like what I'd expect to happen, but I was reminded, that maybe I should strengthen my neck....

BONUS ROUND(YUP THERE'S MORE) WARNING NSFW

Now last year(link to my post from then), when we did this they had a different daily challenge and a lot of people moaned about it, buuuuuut I shared a colourful story there of how I once used Cryogen on my privates, and u/Marquis90 just wanted me to suffer by insisting I should re-create that. And as stupid as I was I of course promised him, I remembered today that I did promise but did not deliver, well so I shaved my privates today and then made a video:

Video of me from the torso up with a shirt talking about the LG so far while I put ULTRA MENTHOLATED products on my freshly shaved privates and experience their effects to the MAX!

Yup this was definitely an experience I did not enjoy at all, but I wanted to go all out on the daily theme and challenge so yeah, hope I managed to do that!

    #FOF

Nothing really goes with mentholated products so I just used Terre d'Hermes, which is a wonderful all round fragrance! You like oranges! Well this is having an orange thrown at your face while someone sprinkles black pepper on your head! It's just good!

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Just got home, after and incredibly long long day and I'm half drunk.... Just saw u/Priusaurus's video and am currently watching u/chronnoisseur42O's video, cause today we are SET BUDDIES! \^_\^

First off, I demand my dividends of having my name used so much in one video, God damn... One could think we were having sex. You moan my name more than women I sleep with... Also djudges, disqualify him, he is making points on my back, not fair!!!

Really I'm just stumped... this is probably gonna be my weakest post of the lather games, but hey I stirred the pot enough yesterday it seems, got under that man's skin!! Too bad he couldn't get under water...

Now for the Daily Challenge I did a video, but the past few days I had such good ideas that I was just spend. So I just went out on my terrace and shaved with a straight, looking at the video I should record there more often! Here's the video!

I will write to say though that for me u/sgrdddy and u/VisceralWatch are the only english speaking wettubers I follow now and since a long time ago. They just have so much knowledge, people who say that Visceral doesn't have a personality, go and watch the Ron Wiebe interview he conducted, it was awesome! Link to that! Screw anyone else, my criteria is, if you can't make good lather I won't watch you!

Note to self: Should shave more often with straights!

DAY 17 LATHER GAMES! HAPPY TOGETHER WITH MY OSMA

    • Prep: Water

    • Razor: Blackland Vector
    • Blade: Chinese(6)
    • Lather: Zingari Man - Mousse Illuminee
    • Post Shave: Zingari Man - Mousse Illuminee
    • Fragrance: Pino Silvestre - Pino Silvestre Original

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Right time to get back to normal Lather Games for a bit!

    INTRO

Collaboration day! I think that one of the most amazing things in our hobby is how tight the community is, even vendor wise and how people just want more and more collabs!!! Some of the best things produced are the love child of two awesome artisans, OR 3! Three artisans working on one product!?!?! That's amazing!

    SOAP

We all know how good Heather's soaps and scents are! Rambler and Navigator, FIREEEEE!!!!

This one is no exception, it even goes beyond that! Rouge Perfumery has created an amazing scent which made my face squint at disgust at first(I think it was too much cypress at once), but when you give it some time to open up, oh boy is it so good! It's mature, like whiskey, fresh like lemons, and deep like Confucius! Soaps like this one really made this hobby even more awesome! Looking forward to many more collabs, especially one between A&E+PAA, that would be the best!

Cerberus Fougere is also another favorite of mine, it's even a TRI-COLLAB! I would have wanted to use it today, but LG Callendar...

I see some people have used the whole Cerberus trifecta and it won't screw up their 30 different things, which is quite ingenious! I hope to try the original Cerberus one day!

    DAILY CHALLENGE

Well that better challenge than showing how much you love OSMA!! I won't bore you with empty words of my love for OSMA, I did enough odes and poems so far!

Actions are stronger than words(Did I say time to get back to normal)

THIS is how I show my love for OSMA!(kids don't do this)

That's right, I have been an OSMA addict my whole active shave life.... I even tried OA(Osma Anonymous) but that led to nowhere! I can't even imagine having a shave without it, I've never skipped using it ever since I started! It's just how it makes you feel, the smoothness, the lacking of dryness like other crappy alum.... It just gives meaning to my life, I can't stop myself!!!

    SPITE SHAVE™

u/Priusaurus yo buddy what happened, did I come at you too hard yesterday?!?! No comeback? And if you call your post today a comeback, you clearly haven't seen one!! Silly remarks about points, I GET ALL THE POINTS BROTHER!!!

Awww don't cry, not all of us can be manly and snort alum in their free time! I imagine how your pride and ego crumbled like my OSMA alum when I dropped it(RIP 14.06.2023)... I'll leave you alone though, guess you can't handle it...

    #FOF

For today I chose Pino Silvestre cause I wanted to add a bit more forest to the whole experience. Why more forest, well more coniferous forest to be exact cause this one definitely gives me the deciduous vibes, and somehow MI points my nose towards a fawn strolling through a coniferous forest. So while mixing totally opposite type of forests I do feel the combination works great!

    DAY 18 LATHER GAMES! BOO!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Blackland Vector
    • Blade: Chinese(7)
    • Lather: Gentleman's Nod - Cosecha Catalana
    • Post Shave: Gentleman's Nod - Cosecha Catalana splash
    • Fragrance: Antonio Puig - Agua Brava

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Damn calendar, ruining my plans. Today would have been such a great fit for Tres Matres which is based on the horror movie "Suspiria" which did have a remake in 2018. But points I guess.....

    SOAP

Anyways, I went with a different route which is Cosecha Catalana by Gentleman's Nod. This is a scent that when it got to our group in Bulgaria, everyone went nuts over it, except me(cause I'm a pretentious cunt), but it did spark the mania for getting soaps by Gentleman's Nod in their C4 base. I gotta admit that their scent, Juniper Reverie, especially in the EdP is one of the finest things I've smelled!!! Simply amazing! This one though, while I recognize it is a good scent, it doesn't really tickle my nose the way I liked it to be tickled!

    DAILY THEME

Yes I am on theme today with a fall scent, but it would have been more awesome to have incorporated something that was actually spooky... So I will leave you with a boring story.

Some might have experienced sleep paralysis at some point in their life. I forget when it was actually the first time it happened to me, around 5-6 years ago. I had heard about it but never cared that much to read about it. And then it happened.... It was so surreal, sends shivers down my spine. At one moment I was falling asleep and a second later I could not breathe as though someone had grabbed my throat and was choking me. Furthermore all my senses were tingling, my hair was standing up like lightning was about to strike near me. I was in my room but everything was different, and then I saw it, a shadow figure in the corner of the room, before I could fixate my gaze it was in front of my face. Words escape me to this day to explain what hellish creature was in front of me. That was the braking point of my mind where I started actually screaming and woke up and stood up, drenched in sweat. The whole experience lasted a minute or less, but for me it felt like ages. That night I learned the true meaning of fear. All previous fears that I have had, like fear from heights paled in comparison. Truly if hell existed, at that moment I thought that being trapped in it was a similar experience. Sleep has never been the same afterwards. Fear truly is the mind killer....

    DAILY CHALLENGE

Don't know about the 2020 LG, but last year there was no such thing, much like the daily challenge for tomorrow. Either the djudges are getting crazier, or I'm getting more normal, but having in mind I snorted OSMA yesterday, I'd say it's the first.

Here you go..... Honestly with such a challenge it really is hard to get inventive into what crazy thing one could do.... I had the idea of drinking the damn glass, but then thought, naaaah too icky, also soap might fuck up my innards. I chose the glass cause I hadn't yet decided whether I would drink it, but when I looked at it, I lost my appetite...

    #FOF

Man reading some of the latest posts I did for the FOF, I ain't placing anywhere.... I even thought about stopping and not putting any more effort until the end, but then I remembered "never half-ass stuff".

So why Agua Brava? Well it's a fragrance that my father really likes and it is a very masculine chypre scent that projects confidence, combined with the warmth of Cosecha Catalana gives you a great experience of what a fall can smell, albeit a more positive and non-gloomy fall.

DAY 18 LATHER GAMES! SO CREAMY, MMM I LOVE IT!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: socks
    • Razor: Blackland Vector
    • Blade: Chinese(8)
    • Lather: Nivea - Sensitive Shaving Cream
    • Post Shave: Brut - Brut Oceans
    • Fragrance: Jean Paul Gaultier - Le Male

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    THEME+DAILY CHALLENGE

Honestly I don't know where to start, cream itself for a start is bad enough, but then you add THIS daily challenge!?!?! I still can't figure out if the guy in the original video is a genius or an idiot! But someone should message him and tell him he inspired A WHOLE day of the LG, and that's quite the achievement!

Well I'm not sure if I ever used this Nivea since last year, but it definitely has gotten a lot more thicker than then, maybe in about 2-3 years it might calcify itself inside the tube(cause all them good ingredients). In general I'm not a fan of creams, this day, budget day and drug store day are my least favourite cause of the fact of what I have to use... I know I know, I just wanna moan and vent!

Now for the challenges I tried two ways to lather with socks:

    - In my opinion, this video is THE BEST way to make a lather with a sock!!! No second opinion needed!!!

    - The video of the second method shows that it is more practical and boring, but it does the job.....

    #FOF

The whole combination of scents is very chemical, Brut Oceans is a better variant of the green Brut, still it has that cheap-o smell to it. No offence to Le Male, but it fits great with all the scents! Just an average smelling shave...

DAY 20 LATHER GAMES! WHO COPIED WHO!?!?!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Blackland Vector
    • Blade: Chinese(9)
    • Lather: Stirling - Mountain Man
    • Post Shave: Stirling - Mountain Man splash
    • Fragrance: Dior - Eau Savage

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Right, dupe day! I understand, that a lot of people enjoy many of the mainstream EdP like Creed Aventus etc. and when getting into the hobby would like to see if there is anything like that in soap format. But to me all these mainstream perfumes have always been boring in the sense that they are people pleasers, and lack character(for the most part). My choice of the day is Stirling Mountain Man, which is a dupe of Creed Silver Mountain Water. Now I have not smelled this one in real life ever, tried to find it in perfumeries, but alas Creed is not popular in Bulgaria, or they just don't stock it, really I've been to so many perfumeries, and asked "Do you have Creed this and this?!?!", they always stop me when they hear Creed, "Oh no, we don't stock Creed".

I have smelled a lot of perfumes(not that I can fully appreciate all of them), but still it's experience, and my opinion stands! The niche perfumes that you can get from B&M, HoM, SW etc. are tenfold better and original, and you won't encounter someone smelling of it every 20 metres. Btw, about to get some samples of Imaginary Authors, can't wait \^_\^

Maybe I just need to find soaps that are dupes of niche perfumes? Who knows, but I try and stay away from these type of scents, no offence to anyone who likes them, just for me it doesn't ring my bell.

    DAILY CHALLENGE

I was not a fan of this shave... Sock shave was better! Between those two sock shave at least provided me with a decent enough lather.. I usually hydrate my lather to the breaking point, thanks to u/sgrdddy's video on types of soaps, very informative!

So in honor of today's theme I made a video as a tribute to a YouTube shaver, cause his lather really is something else! Video with awesome lather!!!

u/Priusaurus didn't anyone tell you to never go for sloppy seconds, can't you find a girl of your own? Also why are you airing the dirty laundry of the last girl I slept with(now also you)? I mean yeah Sandy is a bit dry down there, but when you put the work in, you can get her going, first few times was a bit rough and course but when you get the use of things! I actually gave her a call after reading your post, she said you were even worse than I was.... Shame on you.... And don't act like your lather is well balanced, today's challenge was practically "A day in the life of a u/Prisaurus lather", you felt like at home with that pasty lather. You do so many interviews you forgot how to make decent lather! You caught me off-guard yesterday, but I'll get you back, you just wait!!!!

    #FOF

It's kind of the closest I could find in my arsenal in terms of scent compatibility, but I should say that Dior is a much better scent than Silver Mountain Water by Creed. I find this perfume of Creed to be offensively boring, Dior saved the day with adding a bit of life and colourfulness!

DAY 22 LATHER GAMES! IN SOVIET RUSSIA, LEG SKIPS YOU! P.S.- THIS IS A LEGENDARY POST

    • Prep: Water

    • Razor: Blackland Vector
    • Blade: Chinese (10)
    • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Fougere Nemeta

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

DAILY THEME, OR HOW MY LIFE WENT TO SHIT

I was quite stumped as to what to use on this day... I tried and searched for something and finally I admitted defeat and chose A&E - Strawberry fields. As soon as I picked up the soap, the earth rumbled, the skies were torn with lightning, and ominous music played in the distance. Immediately I got a call from my boss to tell me that I was officially fired, for being scum of the earth, after that my wife stormed into the room and told me she was leaving me and wanted a divorce, not long after that I got a call from my parents who said that they are disowning me, cause they raised me better than this. Mother was wailing on the other end of the phone, repeating "it can't be true, it can't be true", and my father was consoling her, saying "I'm sure he's just confused, it happens to everyone", then he asked me, was I really going to use it, and I confirmed I got the soap and aftershave, there was a silence, so eerie one could hear an ant fart. After what seemed like an eternity he just said "You're on your own son, I'm sorry, we didn't raise you like this". After that I got an eviction notice for the next day, and my car was nowhere in sight. Why? Cause it was towed.... I just went on a bench and sat down crying not knowing what to do.... As my tears started to drop on the hot summer pavement, the earth opened up and hellish demons grabbed my ankles and started pulling me to what seemed like hell, telling me "Oh you sinned hard, there's no getting out this.... you're ours to torture for eternity".... At this point I just started to repent to God, saying that if I could redo it, I would never touch A&E again, forsake it for the rest of my life and steer away everyone who I can, away from them. As I finished repenting, halfway pulled through the earth by the demons, the clouds opened and I saw GOD, he smiled at me and pulled me away from the demon spawns from hell. Continuing to smile, he reached out and gave me a soap saying: "We all make mistakes child, but if your heart is of pure shave then you get a second chance, try this instead!", and I was holding in my hand one of the most beautiful scents with strawberry I have ever smelled. I felt saved, everything was alright again!

    DAILY CHALLENGE, YOU FUCKING READY?!?!?

Now, today we went to have an open concert at one of the most prestigious hotels in Bulgaria. While driving to get there I remembered I can multitask PRETTY WELL so I made a VIDEO while driving, to show u/Priusaurus to show how it's done, and for him to know, I'M COMING FOR YOU!!! That guy thinks he can one up me, I CAN TWO UP ANYONE AND EVERYONE!!!

Now the bad part is, that even I, as smart as I am neglected the fact that when you shave long hairs, you need something to rinse that razor... So I shaved a bit and waited patiently until I got to the hotel. I arrived quite early and a plan was already set in motion, since my arrival was a couple hours before the sound check and the concert, I had some time. I went inside and asked one of the bell boys where our changing rooms will be for the orchestra, and where the toilets are(first question was a trick one, cause I didn't need to know that until much later). And then I went to the toilet and I finished my shave. VIDEO OF SHAVING IN A TOILET (Edit: sorry for shaky camera)

You might ask yourself, "Y THO?", CAUSE I DON'T HALF ASS THINGS! So yeah, I can proudly say that I am the only person in Bulgaria, OR THE WORLD probably, that shaved their leg in the bathroom of one of the most prestigious hotels in Bulgaria!

    #FOF

I tried to find a suitable match and 1922 by J.M. Keune is probably the closest I'm gonna be able to get. The fig really elevates the strawberry from Fougere Nemeta and when combined produce a great sweet, but not diabetically sweet, aroma that makes you feel like you are in a fruit market and all the fruits are freshly picked! You can even hear all the vendors who are screaming from the top of their lungs how they can give you the best price!

DAY 22 LATHER GAMES! ENCHANTING? AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Wolfman WR 2 1.25
    • Blade: Gillette Minora (16)
    • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Fougere Gothique
    • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Fougere Gothique splash
    • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Fougere Gothique EdP

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

INTRORight, after yesterday I want to say sorry! I will not endanger anyone else for LG points! The Spite Shave wars with u/Priusaurus will have to be put on hold. Truce! Of course he has to be the smug one who waves his flag and gets the moral high ground... Figures... But as we said, none of that anymore!

    DAILY THEME

It was tough to pick out a winner, cause my most compliment getter, is a tie between Tobacconist and Fougere Gothique, I think I would have used Tobacconist, but this damn callender man.... I love both a lot and whenever I wear either of them get compliments for the scent I am wearing. More on this in the #FOF

    DAILY CHALLENGE

You want to laugh at my lather? Here! I hope that Mr. Lather brings a smile on your face!

    #FOF

It is not an accident that this is one of my favourite scents. Where do I even start. I bought the soap, it was a blind buy, a full tub blind buy. The first whiff I got off of it my face made a face, but with every second of prolonged exposure to this scent I grew fonder and fonder of it. At the end of the day I knew, I HAD TO GET THE FULL TRIFECTA!!!

All three products have different emphasis on what is the dominant note. The soap is the most mushroomiest, after that the aftershave really puts forward the ash and smoke scents and the EdP in the end is adding the leather, wood and oakmoss, and this ain't no ordinary oakmoss. It's a cave damp oakmoss!

Lots of people compare this scent to what a grave might smell like, I wouldn't say so. It evokes strong memories of when I was picking mushrooms with my parents in the woods. The mushroom part is quite present.

When combining the three products one after another you get something quite unique that is neither the soap, aftershave or EdP. It just mixes everything and becomes a reaaaaaally unique scent. Funny thing is, that the aftershave is stronger than the EdP, at least to my nose!

    DAY 24 LATHER GAMES! MR.NICESKY!(MR.NICEKEY)

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Soluna* #JETSETTER #UNICORN
    • Blade: Gillette Minora (17)
    • Lather: Pre de Provence - Nr. 63
    • Post Shave: Clubman Pinaud - Classic Aftershave Lotion
    • Fragrance: Bourjois - Masculin 2 Vetyver

*(ASTERIX)- The razor I think is marketed as travel and the Unicorn # is cause it is on loan from a friend of mine who is around 45 and has told me that this is a razor his grandpa used ever since he could remember himself. So my assumption is that it is before 1971.

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    DAILY THEME

This soap sample along with many other things was a PIF I won from u/BourbonInExile! To this day I am thankful, cause it was his PIF, that introduced me to GEM razors! And I couldn't be happier about that!!! I was always curious about PdP, but luckily enough was lucky to get to try it. It is a fancy and heavy scent, true baller type of scent, like super classy. Soap itself is decent!

The razor is something that baffles my mind. Now this is a real YMMV, but it is similar to the Blackbird in the sense that by feel on the skin it shaves super rough and awful, but does a very clean shave with zero to none irritation. I don't know how that happens, you just feel that you are scraping your skin, but at the end the Alum does not give any feedback and you are left with a BBS shave!

    DAILY CHALLENGE

    Oh boy....

First off, as always, a GREAT BIG THANK YOU, to the djudges( u/USS-SpongeBob, u/wallygator88, u/Djundjila, u/walden, u/DoctorRotor, u/J33pGuy13, u/VisceralWatch, u/merikus, and u/EldrormR ) for doing all of this and organising everything, I can't even imagine how hard it is! So yeah, gotta suck up to the djudges! Thank you for your patience and tolerance towards the mistakes of the participants! Joke aside, I really do appreciate your work!

    Now in NO PARTICULAR ORDER:

    • u/FMKJuli - Mentioned it earlier, will mention it again. Thank you for your help through your own experience!
    • u/J33pGuy13 - A friend with whom we competed together in the LG last year and made a great connection, awesome guy with great energy! His passion for crazy scented soaps or items in general is so contagious everyone joins in. He's done a lot for the sub. Also one tough SOB!
    • u/djanovshaving - Another friend part of the Bulgarian community that we created. Very happy he joined cause it's a lot more fun when a friend can join in, also I'm very happy to see how well people receive him!
    • u/souleater7173 - What he said today really touched me and made my day and week! Also mad props to the guy for sticking to something I cannot do myself, and I've tried.
    • u/OnionMiasma - Another friend that was made in the last LG and a great competitor, one who made the previous and current LG worth it!! Great guys, great posts!
    • u/Priusaurus - He's ok I guess.... But seriously, I don't think I would have pushed myself in general for the LG if it wasn't for him and the SPITE SHAVES that came out from the whole thing! He really stepped up his game since last year, and I'm very happy battling side by side! #Frenemies!!!
    • u/chronnoisseur42O - A very charismatic person, who was "blamed" for being too practical! I say BOOOO, the guys is great and you can clearly see how much he loves the hobby! I still think he should try and see how it goes with youtube. People say that Vis is dry, but hey, he's an allstar either way!!! Pure shaving content, I LOVE IT!!!
    • u/Crisp_Mango - This dude is crazy.... Every day a different song? And he always comes first here! Hope his wife has a different experience!
    • u/EldrormR - A true connoseur of GEM razors and a master at restoring them!!
    • u/raymoonie - My favourite SOTD photo guy, I like his photos best, always!

EDIT - u/USS-SpongeBob - Thank you for teaching me about soaps and fatty acids, really broadened my view in ingredients in general and what I buy or don't buy!!

    #FOF

Now having in mind the scent of PdP 63 I wanted to keep it simple and stylish, so aftershave was Pinaud Clubman Classic, which truly is a classic oldschool scent, that probably a lot of barbershops used(or smelled like). So I decided to use something simple to top it off which is Masculin 2 Vetyver. Honestly the name says it all, it's just BAM, Vetiver to your face, and it's fucking strong, but it pairs up well with the Pinaud Clubman, both very simple yet well made scents who give you a manly feeling!

    DAILY CHALLENGE

Last year I did outdid myself! I shaved for the first time with my left hand(non dominant) and with a straight nonetheless, on top of that I did it blindfolded! Video here!

Sadly this year I tried to think of a way to top it, and I couldn't... So I just did the same thing but with the Blackland Vector, and waaaaay shorter. Video of blindfolded shave. (and ofcourse not long before the end the phone stopped recording...)

    #FOF

Now out of all the winter scents I've tried, this is probably the most gourmand one. I get lots of Chestnut and Walnut, which is crazy cause they aren't even in the description. But it does brink back child memories to me, which is great, cause I think that's what it's all about for Christmas Scented soaps, to remind you of those great memories!

Now as to what to combine it with, I chose something a bit more strange. I was thinking of using something pine forwarded but that was way to obvious. So I chose something that older people enjoy during the winter and Christmas time, a good ol single malt whiskey in the warm abode surrounded by the people they love! Yeah, children don't enjoy whiskey, but grown ups do, and for me Winter is probably the best time to have great whiskey! The EdP itself is amazing, I have not smelled anything like this on the market, it truly is amazing! And compared to the aftershave it has much more smokiness to it, like a smokey whiskey, but one of those REALLY smoked ones!! Great touch to the Winter Cabin by Macduff!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Eldrorm Industries MM24 #BRASSING
    • Blade: GEM PTFE(?)
    • Lather: Ingram - Cool Lather Shave Cream
    • Post Shave: Southern Witchcrafts - Tres Matres splash
    • Fragrance: Versace - Eros

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

My whole day went to shit, when I woke up and saw that u/OnionMiasma stole my idea to shave with motor oil... And before you say "Of course you'd say that". I have a video that proves that I've done it almost a year ago!

So yeah, I was stumped... I went through the whole day thinking "What should I use?!?!?", it rained a bit so I gathered some rain water, but then thought, that's boring... I thought cleaning agents, dust, dirt, rosin.... All were boring. So I scrubbed it up the best I can and used an Egyptian cream no one's ever heard of!

On top of it all Onion took a stab at me, for no reason.... At least u/Priusaurus was honest, I thought Onion was a companion in battle, but we now see his true colours.... This is for you Onion!!!

    DAILY CHALLENGE

    Video

Now since I constantly move from my home town to the capital I don't really have a shave den on something to that extent. But I do have a travelling shave den in a gorgeous leather bag which I keep all my most precious things! You can see in the video, hopefully it's not too boring like this SOTD, probably my worst since the start....

    #FOF

Honestly I'm so pissed I just threw some stuff together as best I could, my grand plan was foiled... Eros goes kind of well with Tres Matres, but I can't say it's a great match the vanilla kind of collides with the rosewood. Could be better, but it's ok.

DAY 27 LATHER GAMES! JUST ME AND MOTHER NATURE!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot
    • Razor: Blackland Vector
    • Blade: Chinese(12)
    • Lather: Summer Break Soaps - Homecoming
    • Post Shave: Clubman Pinaud - Lilac Vegetal After Shave Lotion
    • Fragrance: Black Mountain Shaving - Vernal Equinox
      PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

To start off things, one would think that when going to the mountains to such a beautiful place, one would not forget to make an awesome picture. Yep, well I'm stupid, might have been the 2 hours of sleep I had been since the previous night...
Anyways. Lavender day. It is a scent that comes up in a lot of fougeres etc. but somehow lavender on it's own never really took a special place in my heart. I mean I like it when it's in cleaning products and essential oils, but in a soap, pure lavender scent. Naaaah... Sorry peeps.

    DAILY CHALLENGE

I was so happy when I read about the shave outside daily challenge, cause I had been waiting for it for some time, and coincidentally it aligned with a free day(so to say), so I got the chance to go to the mountains above Sofia, the Vitosha mountains in a special spot I found and shave there and afterwards relax.

    VIdeo of shaving outside

I was thinking of making this a loud spite shave, but I heard from the podcast that u/merikus enjoyed someone shaving outside and he explained it was a really calming experience. So I decided that since I am surrounded by nature I should remain calm and not meme it up. It was serene and just like a meditation. I was the first time in a long time that the temperature had cooled down and there was wind blowing, while a gentle sun was tickling my face. Just bliss!! Thank you for this challenge!

As far as Spite Shaves go, NO ONE SAID I CAN'T DO IT HERE IN WRITING!

    SPITE SHAVE

    Spite Video

u/OnionMiasma YO WHERE YOU AT YOU TWO TIMING STEALING BASTARD! You haven't even shaved!!! I gotchu today brother, you're probably gonna shave in your backyard like a scrub! Guess what I BOUGHT A FUCKING MOUNTAIN BROTHER! WHERE'S YOUR MOUNTAIN?!?!?! HUH? HUH??

You shouldn't have messed with me yesterday man! You'll regret it!

You can't outdo me man! You just brought the heat on yourself!!! Three more days, I'll destroy you brother.

You'll beg the Gods for forgiveness, for fucking with me!

All them fumes from yesterday, must've screwed with your head!

    I ain't done with you!!

    #FOF

Now today was a fucked up day. You know why, cause I never tried Lilac Vegetal and that shit smells like the water from a vase that has had roses in it for 3 weeks. RANK... Straight up swamp smell. I thought the Lilac would compliment the Lavender.... Disregarded that stuff and chose something that would go wonderfully with the mountains during the summer! Vernal equinox is a delightful caption of what I just described, it even has Lavender in the middle notes! If you want a classy woody smell, with a fair amount if citrus influence I suggest this one. It's a good one! The blackcurrant in it is a banger!!

DAY 28 LATHER GAMES! I'M GONNA FRUG IT UP!

    • Prep: Water
    • Brush: Studio Pro SB020(that what it says on the packaging) #RUNT #SMOLL
    • Razor: Some Chinese No Name Brand AliExpress razor
    • Blade: Gillette Minora(18)
    • Lather: Viking - Shaving Cream Sensitive
    • Post Shave: Balea Men - Ultra Sensitive After Shave Balsam
    • Fragrance: Shirley May - Just Black

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Now I could have went the route where I use stuff that was gifted to me, cause then it's 0$ and that's the cheapest, but that's not the idea, that stuff is for scrubs! All these products were bought at FULL PRICE, nothing was reduced!

Short summary of prices total and per g/ml:

    • Brushhh: Studio Pro SB020 - 1.13$
    • Razorrr: AliExpress Razor - 2.33$(that's what I got it for)
    • Bladeee: Gillette Minora 0.56$ per pack of 10
    • Latherrr: Viking - Shaving Cream Sensitive 1.13$ per 100 ml, 0.0113 per 1 ml
    • Post shaveee: Balea Men - Ultra Sensitive After Shave Balsam 1.69$ for 100ml, 0.016$ per 1 ml
    • Fragranceee: Shirley May - Just Black 3.38$, 0.0338 per 1 ml

So total cost of gear is 6.84$! THAT'S CHEAP!!!!

Now we're gonna take out of the equation the hardware, brush+razor to see how much the consumables cost per shave.

The pack of Minoras is 0.56$ per pack, which makes one blade 0.056$, I haven't seen how many shaves I can get, but currently I'm around 20, let's say 20 shaves per blade, which means one shave of the blade costs 0.0028$.

Assuming I use my usual 1 gram per shave of all the products it comes down to(plus the blade) 0.0639$ per shave.

When all is said and done:

    TOTAL GEAR COST - 6.84$

    PRICE PER SHAVE - 0.0639$

    SHAVE

I was so ready to moan here about the shave, and was ecstatic actually, sadly it did not turn out like that(almost).....

    • Cream: It was almost like water, but it did the job done, Proraso is much better and Arko is way beyond that! Should have gone for Arko now that I think about it...
    • Razr: I really wanted to hate this razor cause of how cheap and awful it looked, but God damn it... It shaved me REALLY WELL. Did it feel nice on the skin? NO! Did it take me a great deal of concentration? YES! Was it easy? NO. But at the end of the day, did it irritate my skin? Absolutely not.... One of the better shaves I've had this LG, proves to you everything comes down to technique!
    • Post Shav: This is probably the closest I've come to finding an unscented balm, but there was a faint tingle in the nose of chemicals. Did not hydrate skin well enough..... BALEA MEN, YOU SOME SCRUBS, MAKE A GOOD BALM!!!
    • Brushj: Now if you wanna find a good scrubber for oily pans and similar stuff, THIS BRUSH IS FOR YOU, THE ALL NEW FACE REMOVER 5000!!! Folks, take a few strokes and magically see how your face disappears.... Seriously I don't think I've ever seen a boar brush with such metal like structure bristles, but hey, it's 1.13$!!!

I think that this experiment proves one thing, that really probably the most important thing is the razor you're using and HOW you're using it, everything else can be average at best, doesn't mean it should!

I do not feel great about SAVING MONEYI WANT MY EXPENSIVE STUFF BACK!!!!

This is my first perfume ever that I used, ever since I was 15, and to this day I sometimes use it, albeit all the other awesome EdT I have.

Before getting all the fancy shmancy stuff I have now, this used to eat up all the compliments, it just really clicked with my skin. It's a simple retro fragrance heavy on the woods with good depth and decent longevity! Really is an old-school aroma, one that you would associate your father with or grandfather with, depending on your age. It is warm and embracing! After 6-7 hours it's just a skin scent, but when someone gets close to you, they can really appreciate how it has developed, and for all intent and purposes that's what we're going for, that close range appreciation!

P.S.- You know what grinds my gears!?!? That I had a razor for 0.33$ from AliExpress but threw it out during the move last year, cause I was like "WHEN AM I GONNA USE THIS!!??!?!?!?"..... And you could bend the head with your hands no problem, it was truly a genius razor, and it was 0.33$!

DAY 29 LATHER GAMES! WHO'S GONNA WIN IT!?!??!

    • Blade: Chinese(13)

    PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

    DAILY THEME

Now we all know that sandalwood is one of the most overused fragrance in men's cosmetics and is probably the most popular(or mainstream) scent for men. It is considered a woody fragrance. When I first came into contact with this scent I got a lot of sweetness and spices from it, with time I started to appreciate the woody part of it and the smoothness that it carries. Compared to other woody scents like cedar and other similar coniferous types, Sandalwood is a lot more mellow and brighter, you don't get that piercing aroma you get from coniferous types.

As with many things, a lot of the products that carry the scent of Sandalwood do not actually use authentic sandalwood oil. There are over 19 species of Sandalwood in the world. As some have already said today, the best quality Sandalwood is made in India. The thing that characterizes Sandalwood is Santalol.

Here are three examples of different types of Sandalwood:

    • Santalum Album(East Indian Sandalwood) from India - 51 - 80% Santalol
    • Santalum austrocaledonicum(Pacific(yellow) Sandalwood) from New Caledonia - 51 - 65% Santalol
    • Santalum spicatum(West Australian Sandalwood) - 25 - 45% Santalol

Here is a quote from a study made based upon products in Poland, Germany and England:

"Good-quality sandalwood oils derived from the Santalum album plant at a price equal to or greater than the chromatographically tested items amounted to a negligible percentage of products sold online. Without knowing the botanical name of the essential oil plant and the price range of unadulterated sandalwood oil, the likelihood of buying a reliable product is low on all of the analyzed websites, with the lowest probability being observed on Polish sites."

DAILY CHALLENGE! WHO GONNA WIN IT!!??

This year has been quite different than last year's edition, a lot of people have stepped up their game! For first place, I have no idea who it will be, but if I had to guess, and as much as it makes me salty I'd probably say u/Priusaurus. Dude was too consistent, and those interviews he made pre-LG... And they were good, not just interviews, that's dedication... HE ALSO BIRTHED A NEW SOAP(well not him, but you get it). Also reading through the comments I see that I probably only helped him with the Spite Shaves, but I won those at least! Again this is a guess, cause there are maaaany factors at hand.

What I will do is mention the people(in no particular oder) that will be in the top 6(was gonna be top 5, but gotta include myself). This also overlaps with my favourite posts/posters of the month:

    • u/chronnoisseur42O - You are so consistent that it's crazy, GRANITE! Great videos, great write-ups, great photos! He has it all! True wetshaving at it's best!! I still think you should make a channel!
    • u/OnionMiasma - You are no lion, just a two timing SOB who stole my idea, but you went above and beyond with it. The gasoline as an aftershave, which I truly applaud! And the many shaves trip, sending personal memes to everyone and many many more! Truly crazy and deserving! We were side by side last year as rookies, and we are side by side here again!
    • u/RedMosquitoMM - What can I say that hasn't already been said on day 2? You are more than consistent and have a silver tongue like no one else here! I don't think you went out like last year, but still damn good! I am thankful that I got to know you a bit better this year and share some moments with you!
    • u/Priusaurus - BROTHER!!! I really had fun with you this year and am stunned at the level of dedication you brought to the games from Day1! I enjoyed all of your posts, your energy and level of ingenuity! I still have to buy a damn ocean to get square with you....
    • u/MrTangerinesky - Dumb fuck!
    • u/ginopono - While I have not interacted with your posts, I did thoroughly enjoy them! Similarly to chronnoisseur you are very, very solid and consistent with great pictures and just the right amount of length to your post. Also you have a very good style of writing which I also enjoyed!

    For Feats of Fragrance(drumroll):

    • u/RedMosquitoMM - Yeah no surprise there. Man is a beast when it comes to fragrances. With his help(if he decides to) I will try and become better at describing and appreciating the subtle nuances of different fragrances so I can be better next year!

    Photo Contest:

For Rookie of the Year, couple of people(also this year PALES in comparison to last year, I hope next year people will step up their game):

    • u/djanovshaving - Gotta give you a shout-out my man! You came and you killed it, what makes me happy is how well people accepted you and enjoyed your posts!
    • u/tsrblke - One of the few Rookies that tried and put effort into their posts!
    • u/Crossan1983 - One of the early birds I always saw when opening the daily theme who was consistent in his write-ups!
    • Honorable mention to u/souleater7173 I applaud his consistency for daily fitness while participating in the LG!

    Man is my post long....

    #FOF

I ain't gonna win anything from this whole thing, but yeah gonna give a few lines. It is a cheap fragrance that doesn't last long, you don't get the cheap vibes from it, but it could be much better, it fits the theme and that's it more or less.

DAY 30 LATHER GAMES! AU REVOIR!!

    • Brush: DS Cosmetics 30mm Tuxedo Knot (China)
    • Razor: Blackland Vector (U.S.A.)
    • Blade: Chinese(14) (China)
    • Lather: Chiseled Face - Midnight Stag (U.S.A.)
    • Post Shave: Chiseled Face - Midnight Stag Splash (U.S.A.)
    • Fragrance: Chiseled Face - Midnight Stag EdP (U.S.A.)

PIC OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN (THIS TIME IT'S IMPORTANT)

I am a Bulgarian and live in Bulgaria!(important for Daily Challenge)

Right, last day of the LG, everyone is teary eyed and sentimental, but I ain't done yet. Not until I press the "comment" button! I have one last day and I am going out with a BANG!

As for the Daily theme I am THE ONLY ONE ( u/ChangoBat doesn't count, cause WCW) to incorporate THE STAG into a normal day theme! Granted it is easy for me to use THE STAG, cause I am not from the U.S.A., but plenty of other people also are, I AIN'T SEEN ANY OF THEM USE IT!!!! CAUSE THEY'RE SCRUBS!!!! u/cosmobarber would be sad at the lack of Stag this year, but I hope at least my post would make him happy, the last frontier!

Fun fact: This is also my AA setup, minus the Vector, I will do Sub-Cero Fili for AA, but for certain reasons I did not use it today and you will soon find out!

MY GOING OUT WITH A BANG

I was wondering, what can I do to stand out, to finish on a bang, and it finally clicked, some of you might have noticed in the SOTD picture!

Today I went to my local police station and talked with the nice police officers on duty. The conversation went something like this(keep in mind police here is different than police in the U.S.A.):

    • MrTangerineSky: Good day officer!
    • Officer: Hello Sir! How can I help you?
    • MrTangerineSky: Well I have a strange request for you....
    • Officer: Go on....
    • MrTangerineSky: Can I shave in the back of your squad car?
    • Officer:.....
    • MrTangerineSky:....
    • Officer: Are you trying to get into trouble?
    • MrTangerineSky: Well no, it's just for this shaving competition(tried to explain a bit detail of what's going on, he wasn't having any of it).
    • Officer: Boy, you better get out of here before we whoop your ass....
    • MrTangerineSKy: ok, ok, ok, can I at least go there on the other side of the street and shave while I film it?
    • Officer: Yeah no problem, you can go there but you can't film, now BEAT IT!

So that's exactly what I did, I got a lot of laughs, giggles and shaking of heads from the officers while they watched from the sides. I also managed to sneak a picture from the corner, as you can see the cop cars clearly!

You might think what gave me the strength to do this well it's simple, continue reading below.
