Hello everyone, and Happpy AA! First off, I would like to shout out /u/FastBreakSloths . Welcome to the community finally and very happy to see you jumping in deep. Good luck!

First impressions of this setup: "Crap guys". I definitely should not have shaved as close as I did yesterday. I am far and away from a good shave as it stands. This HAS to improve as the month goes on, right? This is my first time with a lofty boar and I've got mixed first impressions. Very mop like as if I am slapping my face with wet straw, but also still surprisingly soft. Excited to see how this develops! I had to keep going back to load more soap, which I'm not too surprised by, but its also a little tough at the same time because I'm still a noob to the AYLM base. Once the ratio started getting proper it was pretty nice! Just hoping that I'll have enough soap to make it through the month. And also hoping this blade holds up especially since I'll have to travel with it later on this month. Very excited for this, good luck to each and everyone of you participating!
P.S. Definitely watch the video in the album with sound and maybe headphones.

Day 2! Honestly, not that much better than yesterday. Learning a new base with a soap eater isn't too fun, lol. I also know I'm trying to treat this brush like I treat my short lofted scrubby boar boi, and It's not doing me any favors. Will definitely focus on a lighter touch with this one going forward, but I miss having a nice firm splay already. That being said, I have already noticed this knot opening up a bit more than yesterday, so I've got that going for me, which is nice!

Day 3 and I was finally able to achieve a lather closer to what I am more familiar with. Really focused on how much pressure I am using with the brush and it has really helped out. Still not all the way there yet, but definitely better than the first two days! I'm pleasantly surprised at how quickly this brush is developing, already noticing split tips.

Day 10, still not it. Still not a good lather with no consistency in how its coming about. Had a solid over a minute brush pressure load, but once it hits the face it just dies immediately. Have to constantly go back to load to get anything build up on my face at all. The blade has definitely slowed down as well, so that is fun too.

Day 12, Heaviest most hydrated initial load I have done to date, just fizzles out once it hits my face. 2nd load brought it back some and 3rd load made it "normal". I'm losing my mind. At least this knot is kinda nice.

Day 19: Last shave of the month from my current location, so had to do it early so I could pack up my AA setup to take with me. Will be somewhere with soft water for the rest of the month, so i'm interested to see how this can affect the lather. Change in photo backgrounds incoming. Blade actually felt pretty smooth for this shave, kinda cool to see how far it can stretch.

Day 26: It was a good blade day AND a good lather day! I was actually able to enjoy the scent during the shave rather than have "man this shave sucks" in my head the whole time. On another good note, i was able to learn that I am at the very least NOT deathly allergic to wasp stings. Silver linings and all that.

Day 31: Done. Finally done. What a Rollercoaster of a month to say the least. To say the most, well. Started off bad, continued bad, saw glimpses of light, felt really good, went bad again, but I finished on a high!
This final shave, I loaded the snot out of this soap with the tub full of water, and finally achieved a pretty decent lather. Used about half of what is left in it; who knew that's all it was going to take to get a good lather out of it! I sure didn't, and I'm glad I didn't because there is no way this tub would have made it to the end. It's probably got a few good shaves left in it total, but I am so happy to be moving on from it for now. Scrapped the blade already too. I learned that I can push the blade out this far and probably even further if needed, but now feel very blessed to not have to do that on the regular. Went into ultra nightmare mode not thinking I would be able to make it, but I'm super satisfied that I was able to see it through to the end, with having to move my AA den a couple states away while in the middle of it nonetheless!
Rawhoggin, not much to say there. I wasn't too nervous about actually breaking it in on my face for the whole month as I have broken in a couple boars before, but never without any extra procedures. It wasnt that bad! And now I have a great new style of boar knot added to rotation.
All in all, I would AA again. Probably not UNM, but it's good to know that I can do it. If need be.
