For the judges. Soap has bear fat in it (see the no scrubs announcement, the yaqi can be seen in the pic.

But today is about u/onionmiasma and just as cowzilla3 had to share his day with priusaurus, so onion has to share with u/jeffm54321 who loves all things allium.

It's a bit mean on poor onion. He's allergic to alliums and so they go and make his day allium day. Fucking typical of the 'humour' in this place.

But if I'm going to play I'm going to play properly. Now in the UK we do things natural. The idea of a block of allium crystal is pretty out there but I have had a jar of onion granules become solid and I can see the advantage there i suppose.

Anyway, I looked at the alliums that I had available and realized that I could pay my respects by not choosing onion and instead went for garlic which has all the same medicine qualities.

I did a two pass shave with this bloody excellent soap ( thanks again u/grindermonk) and then rubbed garlic over my fave like im some sort of bruschetta. It stings and the smell is Discordant but hey I'm now one of the allium gang.

Well that was fucking stupid wasn't it.

I'm not playing to win because you know I don't have the requisite number of soaps, razors, brushes, vendors, or indeed the required amount of shit that needs to be given to win.

But when last years winner u/priusaurus is doing a lame pretend last minute shave, newly minted judge u/onionmiasma is replaying his greatest hits and at least half the shavers are 'using this that I bought for last time' then you know that I gotta do something.

Fucking scrubs all of them.

I don't have pharmacist soap because I'm not a scrub.

Yes I cellotaped a blade to the bottom of the brush. Yes I used the razor to spread shower cream on my face. Yes it cut at least one hair before the whole thing collapsed.

Boring judge bit: on theme because I got this shower stuff from a pharmacist for my boy and because product doesn't specify shaving product. Tags work because I restored this brush into a razor fixing what was clearly a mistake and also because the new razor is green and white And the new brush is mixed material of plastic and metal.

No failing to be clever as this day is all about doing things together and the no scrub soap is a collaboration between no scrub and red house farm, made especially for the LG 2024 no scrubs. What could possibly be more on theme?

To celebrate I thought a few facts would be useful:

After 9 days of the games we currently stand at 61 no scrubbed posts.

There has been 1 non LG SOTD post which achieved a no scrub, and on the least scrubbed day 1 non player was the only person who was not blind to the pointlessness of videos. (Sorry I couldn't resist).

I've been being kind too and only three players have been scrubbed. 1 is a judge, 1 a reigning photo champion and 1 is the scrubber himself.

When I first didn't play lather games challenges were hard, and so was I. Now maybe if I'd used the little blue pill I'd be still be hard (if symptoms last more than 4 hours see a doctor), but I didn't. Instead I stacked challenges with an old favourite alongside this boring one.

As some judge once said “enndeegee is playing his own game” or something like that because you know I don't really pay attention to the podcast when I'm running. (Humble brag I did 4 miles at a hair under 8 mins a mile for the first time in ages. Smug.) I am and I thought I'd do a kinda explanation of the game I'm playing over and above than the obvious - that I'm just here for the shits and giggles.

We all know that there is an element of the lather games that is pay to win. But to what extent is it really pay to play. How high could someone get without breaking the bank. And of course how often can I shill the no scrub soap that u/grindermonk made and which is absolutely epic.

So I looked at what I already owned 25ish soaps , similar number of user grade razors and 5 brushes. I looked at the calendar (on the 28th of may or so) and worked out what I could hit using the minimum number of brushes, soaps and razors in my collection. Where I could get away with a theme with a squint I'd chance it and hope the explanation was good enough. And the day I couldn't make it work I winged. (Badly it turns out ).

I'd then do each daily challenge to the best of my ability leaning into the shits and giggles and either fly high or flame out. Thanks u/djundjila for the Icarus tag. I should really flair it.

So my personal challenge: how high can I get with as small a den as possible? Can I get above halfway?

I've not done the maths till now but by my reckoning if it all goes in my favour (and it hasn't) I could (won't) hit

It was a cold and wet June morning. The rain spat like u/semaj3000 at Donny based Wednesday fans and out on the street the bin lorry was reversing. I'd forgotten to put the grey bin out again. It was this case. It'd been 13 days and I was still no closer to cracking the case than u/cowzilla3 was finishing the great spice off.

I stared at my reflection, skin pallid, eyelids droopy, lather dripping. I looked like u/j33pguy13 but handsome. If I didn't work it out soon I'd never find out the truth, and without the truth I'd be nothing but a scrub.

As I shaved I went over the facts.

I’d uncovered the so called batman Brady, the mountain man to Los Dupe’s Aventus, the prom king to his Le Male, but the man himself remained tantalisingly out of reach.

And what's worse was batman Brady was clearly worried about being sent to the great copyright infringement office in the sky and so after one single comment had said less than alg82’s points tally.

I had almost nothing. The well was drier than u/jeffm54321’s face after Osma, but I couldn't give up. The days theme relied on it.

I replayed the conversation in my head. over and over.

Time to lay out the facts.

I have a confession to make.

Its something a bit embarrassing and I've been a bit ashamed to talk about it on the sub. It's hard to admit but I've been visiting since other subs. In incognito mode. I've found myself staring at the ceiling wondering how the lather got their and wondering if there's another way. I've been worrying about your judgemental attitude and well I just can't do it anymore.

I'm u/enndeegee and I'm dry-curious

I'm not dry dry, at least I don't think I am, but I do think that you know, every now and then going dry is the right thing for me. Or at least I think it's an attractive proposition.

So today with the appropriate daily challenge, I figure why not satisfy my urges. Soap because it's my first time and I want to go easy. Smart for the razor setting.

I know that's not going fully dry but baby steps.

Rub soap on face (twice because you fuck up the video), then a one pass shave like youve never had a one pass shave before. After the first little irritating bite it was the smoothest shave known to man. ^1

So I've been around the sub for nigh on 6 years and in that time I've gone from lurker, to shit poster, to artisan soap, razor and brush maker. I've also taken on the honour of curating the lather games ~~shit list~~ no scrubs list. Not that anyone asked me to do that last one.

But there comes a time in every artisan's life when they decide that though they got into it the love they had is dead, the margins are tough and the competition is tougher.

1. Who wants a no scrub brush when you can go to dogwood or aurora?,
2. Who needs my custom razor when you can just get a wolfman or a Karve or even go on eBay and pick up a 1912?
3. Why get the no scrub soap when you can go to red house farm directly?

I mean who even needs the ~~shit list~~ no scrub list?

Ok so that last one has an answer and the year without a list was the reason I started back up last year, so I do believe a list is needed. But it's not going to be me next year

No scrub industries is officially no more. This year's list will complete, and soaps will be sent out but then that will be that. These fall under fulfilling commitments in terms of business closure and so the no scrub soap is truly a soap from a dead brand. RIP No scrub industries. You wont be missed.

I hope someone wants to curate next year's list though.

Let's face it mocking wicked edge is like shooting fish in a barrel. It's easy and simple because there's nothing worse than someone with a little knowledge. We’re superior yadda yadda yadda. But a lot of us went there and then found our way here because its not a bad intro place its just not a community in the same way wetshaving is.

I stopped subbing there a year or so ago so my only knowledge is from the vocal mod on discord, who seems to have sorted out a sub exclusive (or not I can't tell), the fact that something about that sub led to the ‘drama’ (yawn) earlier in the year and that two people who I know as valued members here are also mods (which I didn't know until recently). I went and looked yesterday and it's basically still the same place, except for u/mrtangerinesky who was trying to troll (badly). So yeah it's not as good as here but nowhere is, and it keeps feeding us new members so why don't we good naturedly humour them instead of mocking them

The OG poster (whose post I can’t find), may have gone down a blind alley with his special bowl that built super physics defying dense lather because you know his application of the principle was nutty. But the idea behind it is sound: If you can remove excess air you can get a thicker, and hypothetically denser, slicker, better lather.

This is the point where a true lather games champion, or at least pretender to the throne would go all science and hypothesise and synthesise and eulogise. But I’m not a science believer, I’m all about the vibes. A bowl didn't work because it physically can't compress the lather in the way originally suggested, but there are tools and equipment that can do that, and fortunately the little syringe thing that comes with the kid’s calpol would do that. It looks like this. Big amount of lather goes in the top, plunger goes down and air goes squish

So I lathered up and then added some soap into the syringe and squeezed it onto my face. Did it take longer than Ben’s plate lathering? Yes. Was the lather objectively better than Ben’s plate lather? Yes. Was the lather subjectively better than Ben’s plate lather? Yes. Did it take less time than GUTL? Yes. Was the effort more rewarding than GUTL? Yes Was the lather objectively better than that created by GUTL? Yes. Was the future of wetshaving set back 3 years by small minded u/mammothben and his wetshaving enablers who brigaded a wicked_edge post? Yes.

Its also clear that none of the judges are bakers because if they were they wouldn't have come with what is literally a lame daily challenge.

For mayana who wont look at the pictures I post no matter what I do: the idiot judges asked us to use a razor on food to carve said food. The pictures show my (nice shiny new) bread lame and then it being used to carve/score patterns into douch and then the final result after baking.

For the kindness of yesterday. I really enjoyed all of the limericks, but feels it a bit weird to award any no scrubs yesterday. If I had have done hugbuckt deserves one for his beautiful song (seriously worth a listen) as well as anyone who mocked me as if you don't I'll become an egotistical maniac and flounce out of the sub over a perceived slight

I dont know who gave me this soap. I got it in a r/wetshaving secret santa and not one where Santa reviealed themselves. Now its been a couple of years so its entirely possible that the Santa isnt playing the games, but equally its entirely possible that Santa is playing. In fact its probably that Santa didnt reveal themselves for a good reason, and we all know that there are other unrevealed pseudonyms and alt's on the sub and in the games. Could it be that u/antiGUTLLeage guy who has just posted an announcement? And if so who is their non-alt and are they playing or just a judge?

Oh well . I've been busy and not looked at the sub most of the day so I get some fun scrubbing tomorrow. 

I had planned on shaving with no scrub soap but instead I'm trying out something stupid. The most common soap I own. I should get DQd surely. I mean the other post means I will anyway I guess.

On theme because no scrub soap has no monetary value as it cannot be sold, my hand is free and the Wilko sword is a cheap 5 quid demon razor.

It was a horrible 1 pass shave after my run. But the run itself was interesting. I came across a weird usb stick and decided to bring it home to see what was in it.

There was one folder called DO NOT OPEN opened it, and there was a single word doc. It was called 197$ffpu*3.docx so I figured there was no virus.

Gentlesirs I hit the jackpot. I found out what Los Dupe has been up to these games and I have to apologize for seeking him out. If I had known he was on the side of the justife I never would've got involved.

INDICTMENT

• The Defendant, REDACTED was the 9th Champion of the Lather Games and a candidate for re-championment in 2024.

• In order to do this the defendant resorted to a plethora of different methods to retain advantage over the pack. This included using multiple brushes, soaps, razors in order to meet the criteria for the games.

• Despite having a range of brushes the defendant chose to use their hands on wildcard wednesday therefore bringing their hands into their shave den as brushes

• Established Lather Games case law has shown that hands cannot be procured and that ownership of a hand is not a requirement to shave. A hand brush is therefore intentionally and not inadvertently owned.

• Despite using his hands as a brush and his knowledge of the book of case law the defendant chose to use a brush, instead of his hands which he had already submitted as a ‘brush’ that he owns

• This was done to gain advantage in the 2024 Lather Games, by seeking to illegally procure points that he is not eligible for. This includes .5 special theme points, and between 1 and 5 bonus points depending on the severity of his crime
