Jun. 27, 2024 Information Overload
Brush: Semogue 2020 Best Badger
Razor: Fatip Piccolo
Blade: Dorco Titan [1]
Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Autumn Ash - Soap
Post Shave:* Bartigan & Stark - Campione - Aftershave

It feels good to use products actually intended for use in shaving!

Experimenting with different blades to find a replacement for the Rapira Swedish Super Steel blades that worked perfectly in this razor is proving difficult; the Dorco Titan cut well, but are definitely a lot less smooth than the Rapira. One benefit at least should be that they won't make a terrible mess in the razor like the Rapira do. My guess is that the Rapira Swedish Super Steel are actually semi-stainless, lacking the necessary percentage of chromium to qualify as "stainless".

Still, a close shave and reasonably comfortable; just not as good as I would normally get with this razor. My neck in particular.

Oh and I realized that I didn't even talk about the soap at all. Yes, this discerning nose can definitely pick out the maple, spice, smoke, amber, cedar, oud, rain, plum, blackberry, ash, birch tar, pumpkin, coffee, dirt, and mildew notes; it's totally not like it is with wine where I wonder what on earth they are talking about. Actually no, I have never even come across birch tar (what even is that?), oud, or amber and stuck my nose to it so I have no idea what they smell like; but most of those other things I know and yeah maybe. But mostly it smells like autumn.

Campione only has 14 scent notes rather than 15, and somehow not a single one of them are the same between the two soaps:

Top: bergamot, clementine, dried fruit

Middle: tobacco, frankincense, jasmine, coconut, almond, hay

Base: amber, vanilla, musk, cognac, sandalwood

Yet, they don't clash somehow.
