Autumn in my neck of the woods means hunting season, and though I’m not a hunter myself (not a tradition in my family), many of my friends growing up marked their calendar for the start of “deer season.” Folks save up their vacation time, stock up on bright orange garb, fill up their giant Stanley with coffee (or, not-so-covertly, something with brandy in it) and prepare to freeze their patushkas off. u/Grindermonk’s wonderfully woodsy deer-tallow soap captures that spirit; I lathered it up with a turned-antler handle FTC brush and layered with additional woodsy scents.

Speaking of spirits, check out this spooooooooky jack-o'-lantern. You might be thinking, “Hey, that’s an apple! Where the pumpkins at, bruh?” You’ve clearly forgotten that this tradition started with gnarled root vegetables “such as a mangelwurzel, rutabaga or turnip”, so we might as well add a round colorful fruit to the mix.
