I was a little apprehensive about AG 1889, based on Guerlain Jicky, since I haven't tried that classic. However, I love it's warm, ambery, vintage charms. Plus, the putty or clay-like Darkwing base is excellent.
My fragrance pairing presented a challenge. I don't think I have a vintage-styled perfume on hand that really captures the je ne sais quoi of Jicky, so I combined a spray of Telegrama and a few dabs of Bon Monsieur rollerball. The Telegrama gives me the warm vanilla and lavender while the Bon Monsieur paints in a bit of (herbal) green. Nice.
