  • Brush: Omega 10098 Boar
  • Razor: Aylsworth Razors - Drakkant
  • Blade: Treet Carbon Steel
  • Lather: Ariana & Evans – Barbiere Sofisticato
  • Post Shave: Epsilon – Blue Mediterranean
  • Fragrance: Azzaro – Chrome

Barbiere Sofisticato impressed me from the moment I unscrewed the top of this sample. They claim the scent is like walking into an old-world barbershop and who am I to argue? I imagine a place where the air is thick and everyone knows each other. The type of place where old-timers would gather and there was a true sense of community. Aromas of fine leather, woods, bergamot, and a hint of powdery sweetness would fill the room. It’s masculine, refined, and delightfully nostalgic. The lather was rich, creamy, and super slick. I have no complaints at all with this soap. As the razor effortlessly glid across my face, I couldn't help but imagine I’m being taken back to a time when grooming was an art form and barbers also doubled as surgeons, and every stroke of the blade was a testament to precision and care. This is not just a shave; it’s a ritual. an homage to the traditions of old.

For my splash, I reach for the Epsilon’s Blue Mediterranean Splash. This aftershave splash gave a chilling blast of menthol on this warm summer day. It’s supposed to be an exact reproduction of Floid Blue, which is a classic in barbershops. The initial zing is a reminder of its potency, waking up the senses and invigorating the soul. It’s a truly lovely refreshing contrast to the rich, warm lather of the soap, adding a touch of zest to the classic barbershop theme of the day.

To finish, I sprayed a couple spritzes of Azzaro Chrome. This fragrance is light and invigorating. With its crisp notes intertwined with nuances of bergamot, oakmoss, citrus and aquatic freshness, it adds a final layer of complexity to the barbershop theme of the day. It’s clean and vibrant, and ties the scents of today together wonderfully.

And there we have it, folks. I’m felling and smelling wonderful - like the epitome of barbershop Sofisticato.

Challenge: I didn’t do so hot. 3/32. I need practice.
