2024-06-02 Ahoy, Lather Games!

"When I was a boy, The Dead Sea was only sick." - George Burns

So, I assemble a disparate collection of interpretations of scents related to, inspired by and bound to the sea.

Setting out upon the wine dark sea to traverse such vast waters where the earth shares it's curve I am going with the:

"...or something with nautically-themed branding / marketing.

Note: this means the soap brand or soap concept must be nautically themed in some way. It does not mean "scent must be from the Aquatic fragrance family."

The Software:

For today's shave I pull out Zingari Man's Navigator with it's mermaid figure head adorned ship on the cap, scent notes of Amber, salt water, musk, and fruits, and a name that shows the course it plots.

To accompany this voyage for post shave I am making use of LBCC's Historical's 1889 Superior Bay Rum, a nice recreation of a vintage Bay Rum recipe applied to an updated base. This particular bay rum is strengthened with orange amongst it's notes.

Lastly I finish with Old Spice in a Proctor and Gamble Eau de Cologne format.

Figureheads are sometimes only a head though often depict a whole figure, and though often depicting a female can also be any number of other things like dragons, warriors, or grotesque beasts. In times past they could be protective as a magic charm or an appeal to a divinity such as a goddess for protection. At other times they serve almost as a herald for owner and the owner's personality. Other schemes see the figureheads taking on a role of warning, or being there to intimidate potential foes.

Some examples that are not so pretty as a mermaid include:

(An appeal to personality) King George III appeared as figurehead on the ship the Royal Sovereign in an attempt to show the royal as leader of the fleet.

(Attempt to intimidate) The privateer The Terrible had a skeleton, and the French corsair the Revenant fittingly represented a corpse.
