  • Brush: Semogue 2000 Hereditas
  • Razor: Gillette triangle slot, fat handle Tech
  • Blade: Gillette Rubie (31)
  • Lather: Wholly Kaw - Denarius
  • Post shave: Wholly Kaw - Denarius
  • Fragrance: Storybook Soapworks - Shaken

What has got me the most compliments? Well, I don't think anyone's ever complimented what they can smell of whatever lather I used. But I have heard a compliment after using just Denarius balm (no perfume on top). It is a pretty strongly scented balm. And I happen to have the matching soap, which I will use along with the balm. Very few other post shave scents get comments of any kind.

But Shaken also gets a lot of compliments. Between these two scents, I don't have all three products, so I cannot use a trifecta of a compliment-garnering scent, but these two are definitely at the top of my den, at least as judged by other people (those who let me know about it, anyway).

Both of these are kind of rich scents: Denarius is "leather, vanilla, clary sage, geranium, patchouli, ionone woods, anise," and is "our interpretation of Mousse de Saxe." That bit right there, I suspect, is what makes it appealing. It's why I bought it. Mousse de Saxe is a very appealing accord.

Shaken is "gin, tobacco, carnation, gunpowder, paper money, sandalwood and musk." An homage to Ian Fleming's James Bond, I can only imagine it really does embody the character. Doesn't everyone love Bond?
