I recently found out that finer grades of steel wool, which I'd previously
thought of as the extra-rough-destroy-everything annihilator,
can be used to polish glass and chrome. I probably won't try it, though.
I feel like I should disclaim that I do not, in fact, believe that
there are steel-wool-bearing sheep.
