June 29, 2024 – Sandalwood Saturday
- Brush: Aurora Grooming LG24 Synthetic ("Lux Emerald Green")
- Razor: "Screwy" (GEM Damaskeene)
- Blade: Personna GEM (6)
- Lather: Captain's Choice - Sandalwood
- Post Shave: Castle Forbes - Cedarwood and Sandalwood Aftershave Balm
- Fragrance: Geo. F. Trumper - Eucris EdP
Sandalwood is everywhere, but it's also very rare.
I could get tired of this scent, but today it was a nice change. Captain's Choice Sandalwood has a gentle fragrance but smells authentic (at least to me). I'd never tried anything from Castle Forbes. The sample was pricey (8 bucks from Maggard's), but it has a robust woody scent and the balm has no alcohol or menthol. Very soothing. Geo. F. Trumper Eucris EdP has a sandalwood note mixed in with many others, and is a bit overpowering. It's a barbershop scent from a bygone era (Zingari Man's The Gent smells somewhat similar).
Daily Challenge
ROTY feels already decided, doesn't it? bmac is the consensus favorite to win. Personally I'm rooting for MudAccording. Like many others though, I'd be happy to see bacconchop come away with the title.
Brush Strokes today features a beautiful illustration from a seventeenth-century Persian manuscript entitled Khamsa (Quintet) by Nizami (d.1209); Bahram Gur and the Princess in the Sandalwood Pavilion.
