  • Brush: My bare hands

  • Blade: Personna Lab Blue
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann – Lime
  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann – Lime
  • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann – Eclipse

Amended Post

Today was a day I’m not proud of and I am willing to admit it. I’ve taken to putting the “Golden Rule” tagline at the end of my posts and I didn’t follow my own advice this morning and acted in an uncivil manner.

Am I a hypocrite? Yep. But I admit it and I’m sorry that I am.

Here is the post I had in my heart to do today (striking out some stuff as a reminder of what I did say and bolding my amended comments) and the shave I did do since Mrs_Donut and I went out this evening and she likes it when I clean up and smell nice.

Use of Theme: Juneteenth

I’ll admit to being prejudiced when I was younger, but I’ve since learned and experience life. One thing I learned was that my direct ancestors fought in both the American Revolution and for the Union Army in the Civil War. While there likely is not much physical evidence of the former, I have touched the ground they fought on and have seen their names on monuments at Gettysburg. To ignore the importance of what they did goes against why we recognize today—the right of freedom and equality. Yet I am “othered” for my beliefs.

I suppose it would’t be right to continue this post, but that would not be in the spirit of camraderie that we foster with our hobby and the Lather Games. In that spirit, I will continue.

The now-home state of Barrister and Mann was also home of New York's 20th, 26th, and 31st regiments of the United States Colored Troops in which over 4,000 black men served. There are several notable members including the 26th Infantry’s Noah Elliott who would become the first black doctor in Athens, Ohio. But I digress…

I rubbed some made-in-the-abolitionist-state-of-New York Barrister & Mann Lime on my face with my bare hands. How could I use a brush? ~~China enslaves its people.~~ Still, do they not deserve to earn a living by making shaving products that we buy?

~~I rinsed the soap off my face with my bare hands. How could I keep it on? I don’t know where all the ingredients are sourced?~~

How could I choose even a razor made in my own abolitionist state? I can’t possibly know where those raw materials were sourced. Yet I chose the Timeless Aluminum made in North Royalton. Ohio by the Timura brothers, two of whom I have met personally and they are stand-up folks.

How could I choose a razor blade made in the United States? I don’t know where those raw materials are sourced, either. Yet 21st century Americans produced those blades with pride.

I followed up with a splash of Lime aftershave which is a close second to Seaforth! Sea Spice Lime as my favorite lime scent. Keeping with the Barrister and Mann theme, the fragrant finish comes from Eclipse, which turns out to be a nice complement to the lime despite the two having no notes in common.

Daily Challenge: Meme Day

I had a whole album to meme Bacconchop and his desire to buy a Declaration Grooming brush, but I’m leaving that behind as long as we are all still shackled by incivility and hypocrisy. Technically, I still posted a meme for the challenge.

So, I had a lousy start to the day. I’ll probably have other lousy days (I hope you all will forgive me when I do.) but I will try to remain civil.

Please be kind to one another. Please remind me when I’m not.
