  • Prep: PAA - Chocolate Cube
  • Bowl: Naked Armor - Silver Fox Scuttle
  • Brush: Shavemaster - V200 Badger
  • Razor: Above The Tie SS - Windsor R Plate
  • Blade: Crown - Super Stainless
  • Lather: Blue Devil Shave Co. - Tropical Colada
  • Post Shave: Central Texas Soaps - Cowboy Spice

Another check on my Lather Games calendar. I used a soap from a defunct company, a brush from a defunct company, a razor from a defunct company (hopefully revived soon by Blackland!) and an aftershave from a defunct company. Pretty much on theme! It was a nice shave. The soap is pretty old and really had no scent left. It lathered OK. The ATT razor did not disappoint even with the unknown Crown blade.

A Costly Noob Mistake

I just wanted to share my experience with the young uns so maybe they could avoid the same mistakes I made. I was about a month into my wet shaving journey when I got a little cocky. I had been using my trusty Merkur Progress (recommended by someone online as a good starter razor possibly on Sharpologist). I was doing fairly well with only minor blood shed. I decided I can handle more. I liked the idea of using a vintage razor, and found a Gillette slim adjustable online. The day I received it I cleaned and prepared for my shave. I decided to use a Shark blade which I had never used before, Mistake # 1. Then I proceeded to make a poor lather with a new soap I will not mention the name, Mistake # 2. I started to shave and immediately noticed how rough it was. I thought “Wow, this blade is horrible!" I pushed through it but by the end of the 1st pass it was something out of the the song Bad Badly Leroy Brown, my face "looked like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7IiaqFIDmI It was not until I was cleaning my razor when I noticed Mistake # 3, I didn't tighten the bottom of the razor all the way down. This was why the shave was so bad. So don't be cocky, respect the blade! Or you might end up like this  https://media.tenor.com/QjOH0aM9t-4AAAAM/sunday-happy.gif
