I twisted the cap off this Maggard’s Orange Chill soap and I was immediately greeted by a burst of zesty orange, simple and refreshing. Using my favorite synthetic brush, I load up the soap and the lather builds quickly, transforming into a rich, creamy concoction that looks and smells like a citrus cloud. As I apply the lather, the cooling menthol gives me a little zing to wake me up and bright orange is marvelous. It’s like what I envision stepping into an orange grove on a freezing morning would be like. The combination of orange and menthol keeps my skin feeling cool and refreshed, making this shave a true sensory delight. The 3D Printed Razor actually does a pretty damn good job giving me a close and comfortable shave.
I finish off the shave using Black Tie Affair, which smells like a creamsicle. Perfect for a hot summer day. I kind of wish the splash was mentholated to really give me a zing (and match the soap), but alas, it’s not. The smell does take me back to my childhood, eating creamsicle after creamsicle all summer long.
And to complete this orange experience, I used House of Mammoth’s Everett fragrance. I’m immediately greeted by a whiff of orange, the sweetness of marshmallow, and rays of sun coming off on my pulse points where I sprayed the fragrance. An absolutely delight of a fragrance and perfect shave for a warm summer day.
Challenge: I’m not sure I have just one, huge, stupid order from Maggard’s. Most of the orders I’ve placed with them have been one or two items at a time (shout-out to us for keeping USPS in business) and even then, my orders mostly been reasonable things. I am fairly new to the hobbyist aspect of wetshaving though, so maybe that will change as I go down this rabbit hole I keep hearing about.
