Today I celebrated the fifth day of Lather Games by going to New York City and seeing Broadway’s smash hit shaving-themed musical Sweeney Todd. I wish I could say it was strictly for the Games and that Josh Groban (the titular Todd) lathered me up after the performance, but alas this was a present for my wife so the opportunities for Lather Games related shenanigans had to pass unfulfilled. I was really hopeful that the merch stand would have a brush or really any shaving stuff, but sadly it did not. I was tempted to try and find the merchandise manager and recommend u/J33pGuy13 and u/merikus in case they were looking to have some custom Sweeney Todd Zenith brushes made but didn’t have the time. The show was great even for someone like myself who is not all that enamored of musical theatre, although truthfully the Demon Barber of Fleet Street’s lather could use more water.
Now that we’re home it was time for my annual shave with my wife’s crap that she gets from Target. I must say it was slightly better than year’s past since she now uses this cream stuff instead of true canned goop like she used to. I probably could have used a brush to help whip this stuff up, but decided to use it like 99% of the people that buy it do and just kinda smear it over my face with wet hands. EOS is a step above said canned goop; the scent is vaguely soapy but not very strong and the cream does provide some protection. The worst part is using her dull-ass Venus cartridge. I bought her a Leaf razor last Christmas that currently sits in the shower sad and unused. So I did one quick WTG pass so I could log this shave and finished off with some lotion, also from Target. Sweeney Todd would surely shed a single tear and then slit my throat if he knew I had followed his story with such a garbage shave. I did follow the shave up with a spritz of Seville, a barbershop scent I’m sure Mr. Todd would approve of.
And for the Daily Challenge, I’ve been into wood inspired scents recently so my ideal fragrance would be like the rich wood of Tom Ford’s Bois Marocain but with a creamy sandalwood base like Barrister and Mann’s sandalwood.
