I'm pretty sure I changed my set up 4 or 5 times before ultimately deciding on this before jumping into the shower. I had Glacial Spearmint soap ready to roll this morning until I woke up to a 55 degree morning. I could have tried to hang with the cool kids in the Mammoth Mafia this month, but I have no desire to Nightmare Mode this month because life is too short for shitty shaves. I could have tried to test my sanity by going unscented for a whole month, but I'm not a masochist. I figured I would just roll with a new soap and a new boar and figure out how everything works together.

u/EldrormR is such a demanding guy with his challenge making us post unboxing pics so here they are. I ordered this Zenith right after Raw Hoggin' was announced, but I didn't get it until yesterday morning thanks to my local post office losing it for two weeks. It's bleached and it has no piggy stink, which does not make me sad, but I'm definitely going to be curious as to how quickly this breaks in v. MOAR BOAR. Here is how it looks after its inaugural shave which included two tub loads and face lathering.

My face feels good even though I couldn't get the lather where I wanted it. I smell good and I don't think I'm going to get sick of the smells this month. Sounds like a good start to August. Have a great day all

This set up is definitely going to work well for me this month. The brush was ready to splay a bit more this morning and I got a much better lather. Jeez, these bristles are pretty soft to start and I can only imagine what they are going to feel like in a week. Here's the post shave view of the brush.

Another morning of waking up to it being 55 degrees (F) outside means another morning vindicating my decision to not use a Glacial soap and splash for AA.

This Zenith is breaking in so easily. Here's how it looked before its morning dip in the mug and here's how it looked after getting its morning workout in the tub and on my face. This brush has shed all of one hair in the first 3 days and has absolutely zero pig stink. The only problem with this brush is that the handle is so shiny I have to be careful when I take SOTD pics so as not to reveal my post shower and shave self you fine folks.

I just need to get through today and then I'm on vacation. A couple of cups of mushroom coffee should fire me up for this day. Have a great day all!

The muscle memory has finally developed with this GEM making it a nice autopilot shave now. Another day of enjoying this set up. As far as the brush break in goes, here's preshave and here's postshave. I think I lost two bristles today.

On a different note, for you LG players relaxing your way through AA, yesterday I had the opportunity to meet the legendary stubble-guzzler himself, u/hugbckt. We met downtown to conclude a 'transaction'. There was an exchange of a 'product' that raised some eyebrows of passersby. As I opened the container and sniffed the 'product'...which is tester of a shave soap his friend is making...we discussed the meaning of life, this little community, what's happening in our community here in the Pine Tree state (which isn't awesome) and other topics. And it's clear he drinks other things than stubble. He's a good dude and y'all should meet him if you find yourself in search of lobster and Stephen King. Have a great day all!

Nothing better than starting a summer day on the beach with some sun, a long walk and some saltwater therapy and then coming home for a nice relaxing shave. The B16 is breaking in nicely as you can see from the pre- and post-shave pics. It's super soft and splaying nicely. We'll see how much soap this thing ends up eating at the end of the month.

Slowed this morning's shave down a bit since I missed a couple of spots on the jawline yesterday. Reducing the shaving speed provided the desired result. Of course, it helps that I'm on vacation this week and don't have other thoughts cluttering my mind that might drag my attention away from the shave.

The B16 break in continues to go nicely. I think I lost another bristle today. Pffft, whatever. Pre- and post-shave pics of the brush

After eating my weight in lobsters and charcuterie by the ocean yesterday, I was dragging ass this morning. I'm glad I didn't have to think about the shave this morning. One of the small benefits of AA. The boar continues to do a masterful job whipping up lather. Hair loss has been minimal and stink was non-existent from the jump. Pre and post shave pics of the pig.

There was no question this morning as to whether or not I had a well-hydrated lather as I spent a minute or two post shave wiping up lather globs around my bathroom and off my body. It was probably a good thing my wife didn't walk in there during my shave as she might have been a tad horrified. Brush pics here.

The blade seems to be holding up ok, but this is definitely the point where the turn to shittiness can happen at any shave. The brush of course continues its easy break in. This shave just continues to be great for this month. Easy breezy scent that's hard to get sick of. This GEM has risen to #2 (behind the MM24) in the den after 19 days of use and muscle memory development.

I'm easing into this Saturday after being out late seeing Sunny Day Real Estate last night. They have been a bucket list band for me since the 90s and last night's show was pure fucking magic. I mean I've seen hundreds of shows in my life and this was a top 5 musical experience. Next up on the Checking Off The Musical Bucket List- The Walkmen in October and Botch in December. Those will be different experiences for sure.

On day 22, this blade decided it had enough. Not a bad shave by any means, but since I'm not going Nightmare Mode I can happily change the blade out. This brush is just so easy to use these days. A couple of swirls is all it takes to get plenty of lather.

I've enjoyed this AA much more than last year, where my distaste for Firefighter grew with each passing day (I realize that is a minority opinion around here). This combo has been easy and enjoyable to use for sure and I have gotten great shaves.

The last pre and post shave pics of the brush

Turn out the lights, the party's over. Here we are, finally, at the end of August. Some of us are noseblind. Some of us are preparing to get down on our knees and cry tomorrow morning after using a fresh and sharp blade for the first time in a month. Most of us will be standing in our dens tomorrow morning wondering "What the fuck am I going to use after being told what to use by our Shaving Overlords for the last two months?" Yes, here we are, about to be cast out on our own until next June. All that time with all those choices. It's going to feel weird.

This was a smooth ride for AA. The Raw Hoggin' brush had an easy break-in. It's nice and soft and definitely not a soap eater. I probably knocked out an ounce of this soap over the last month. I took down half a bottle of splash and close to a quarter bottle of balm. The shaves were nice and smooth. I'm happy I didn't go Nightmare Mode and/or Unscented for the month so my sanity is intact.
