While this is a good first round matchup, do I see CGC taking down B&M like Fairleigh Dickinson took down Purdue last year? Do I see a whole bracket busted this early? I think CGC will make B&M sweat a bit. They'll throw plenty of elbows in the paint to make B&M rue this matchup, but ultimately the Omnibus will roll out of Wetshaving Arena victorious. I know I certainly had a phenomenal shave this morning with the 'bus.

I opened my tub of Washington this morning and the scent is damn near gone. I haven't used this LG, but it has devolved into an almost unscented soap. That's too bad because this isn't worth having around as an unscented soap. The base is good but not Milksteak good. I might just have to carve out the soap and use the 3oz tub for some Stirling samples.

Welcome back to Wetshaving Arena for another first round matchup. The word 'blowout' immediately comes to mind when you look at the teams. Word coming out of the locker room is that Rod and Mandy aren't suiting up for this match up because of (checks notes) stomach pains from laughing so hard since the day the bracket was released. They are apparently more than happy to let their benchwarmers run the TSF folks up and down the court.

When you look at this matchup, it's hard to see a typical 3 v. 14 scenario. It's not like this 14 seed is some upstart from a league that features any number of University of Little Sisters of the Poor. Hell, this looks more like my DIII alma mater (Go Polar Bears!) getting ready to tip off against Duke. I think we are all wondering whether the Mercy Rule is an option here.

Now, I've got plenty of Stirling in my collection and, as you can see, I brought MOAR BOAR and a Stirling splash to the party. But today, I need to support the underdog. TSF has some interesting scents and makes a solid vegan base. They consider this scent to be their bay rum, but it really smells more Spiced-adjacent to me. Maybe using this scent gets TSF to 5 points today, which is where I have the over/under set. Who the hell knows?

I finally cracked open this sample of Varen I've had in the den for a bit. I think I was inspired by yesterday's Valiant Varen Flash Mob. Scent-wise, it didn't knock me on my ass. To my nose, the soap smelled very earthy. It was fine. But we all know how good the Sheep base is so this was a stellar Sunday morning shave.

Welcome back to Wetshaving Arena for another first round matchup that looks exciting on paper but might be another runaway by the higher seed. Will this look like last week's Tabassacre or this weekend's laugher where TSF only put up 7 points? Tune in for today's exciting action!

Today we're going to find out if Kearney, Nebraska is the new Dunk City. Considering Nebraska is typically known for corn (like a lot of corn), a college football program that's a shell of itself and 'rassling', u/rocketk455 is definitely fired up for this matchup. He told us when the bracket was announced, he binged Doritos and Mountain Dew for two weeks straight. But, for the last week, he has been on a cleanse of green smoothies filled with bananas and peanut butter and kale chips in anticipation of a new release and is raring to go. He's going up against a challenger that has decided to bring scantily clad cheerleaders to this matchup to distract everyone from what could be another blowout.

When you look deeper into this matchup, we've got SBS who has produced a number of sub exclusives and is a great presence around this sub. On the other side of the court is A&E who's claim to fame around here is...they make a lot of soaps?

On to the shave we go. I only have one tub from each of these competitors, but for the hyped up reasons above, there was only one choice here. Not to mention that SBS's base is a cut above A&E's K2E. This was a fantastic shave from a soap that I admittedly don't use enough. The MM24 just glided through the shave with ease and there was zero feedback from the SV splash/lotion.

Welcome back to Wetshaving Arena shaving fans for the 1st round matchup we've all been waiting for. Thus far, the first round has held very few surprises. Is this the matchup that's going to electrify the sub and come down to the wire? Will it be scents or bases that's going to push one of these teams to victory? Whose dreams of tournament glory will be dashed when the clock strikes midnight? Tune in today to find out.

Coming in as a 10 seed has to have Catie's Bubbles feeling a little chippy today. They've been a stalwart of the shaving scene creating great soaps at a great price point for a number of years. They've even been able to wow new recruits to the team with their Premium base. They may not be flashy, but there is no doubt they will do a far better job of repping their home state of New Jersey in this tournament than their flagship university has in any tournament (Has Rutgers actually won anything notable???). Spearhead was a bit surprised to find itself as the 7 seed. Coming into the tournament, word was they felt they should have had a higher seed due their putting out a couple of sub favorites. But all of the SSL and Black Watch fans weren't strong enough to push them higher up the bracket.

In breaking news, the National Wetshaving Association has sent Spearhead a notice alleging recruiting violations. The NWA is looking into the timing of Spearhead's recent 3 Scots limited release followed by the announcement of the price reduction on 20.1 base soaps. Were these ploys to propel Spearhead to the championship? Have no fear, like the NCAA, the NWA will take years to investigate this matter and then do absolutely nothing.

On to the shave and I decided to go with the underdog. Catie's Bubbles makes two of my favorite scents- Connecticut Shade (because god damn I love pipe tobacco) and Retreat (motherfucking sandalwood glory for the win)- and then there's Waterlyptus (iykyk). For me, Catie's Bubbles scents can be used more regularly than Spearhead's. And like the 3 seed, Stirling, I appreciate the value.

Wetshaving Arena is packed to the rafters today for what should be another action packed second round match up. After the barnburner that was B&M v. SW, will Declaration Grooming v. Noble Otter live up to the hype and come down to the wire? Some think it might. Vegas, on the other hand, has the Otter as a 12 point favorite. What do the oddsmakers see that the regular shavers don't?

Today will be the first true test for either team. In Round 1, Noble Otter was responsible for a day that will live in infamy in the wetshaving world when they pulled the Tabassacre. Some old farts might even call it the Tabacalypse. Regardless, Noble Otter put on a clinic against Tabac. Word has it the Tabac players thought they were showing up for a shuffleboard tournament, but were happy they were done in time to catch the Early Bird Special. Declaration Grooming had a slighly tighter 19 point victory over The Man from Z. Reports of DG actually having to break a sweat to pull out the win were apparently overblown as the postgame locker room smelled only of Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli. Onto the shave we go!

Cerberus got the call up from the den this morning. Milksteak just works much better for me than the NO base. But with the splash, I'm giving my tip of the hat to NO for their hard work and contributions to the community. This is going to be a fun matchup all through the day.

Wetshaving Arena is rockin' this morning with fans already enjoying the action between Stirling and Summer Break Soaps. Both teams are coming off first round romps. Stirling laid a thorough asswhooping on Talent Soap Factory. Asked after the game about how he felt about running up the score, Rod looked the reporter dead in the eyes and responded with, "Look at me! Does this body look like it was made for running?? Now hand me an Ethiopian Blend and piss off little man" On the other side of the court we have Summer Break Soaps who had an easier than expected first round rout of A&E. Summer Break Soap players were caught on a hot mic during the game saying, "Oh look at that score A&E! Ohhhh, that must really burn your...face!!" before bursting into laughter. Will anyone break a sweat today? Who will take the first flop for cheap points? The fans eagerly await!

On to the shave we go and it was an easy choice for me. It had to be Stirling. The number of green tubs I have in the den continues to grow. MOAR BOAR wouldn't be in my den if it weren't for Rod's work with the sub to get these over the border. Oh yea, and I dig their coffee. The scent choice was a tough one, but I ultimately landed on Spice because it's easily one of my favorites. This GEM blade continues to chug along for another stellar shave in the month of March.

Welcome back to Wetshaving Arena wetshaving fans. March Madness has lived up to it's name in both the basketball tournament and here on the sub. But, we're going to ignore Yale taking down an SEC team or Grand Canyon taking down a WCC stalwart and focus on Spearhead taking on House of Mammoth for the right to challenge Stirling in the semifinals.

Spearhead fans are feeling full of themselves and have shown up here to "Spear the Mammoth" wearing nothing but animal skins and smelling like dirt. Or maybe dirt with a heavy dose of SSL or 3 Scots. Unfortunately, that side of the arena looks and smells like a Grateful Dead show. On the other side of the arena are the happily showered and nattily dressed House of Mammoth supporters. u/mammothben has assured his fans that if he wins, he has the sprinklers over the Spearhead side set to douse the unwashed masses with his award winning fragrances while giving them his best Jerry Garcia middle finger.

It's time to give a Tusk To the Nuts to the Spear the Mammoth crew. Let's get ready to ruuuuuuuuuuumbllllleeeee!

Onto the shave and this was a no-brainer for me. Look, if I schlepped a HoM soap to Miami with me for last weekend's shave, do you think I wasn't going to use it in my home den? The only question for me was which scent. It's snowing here today so Hygge would have been appropriate. But, I'm ready for spring (or Mud Season as we call it here in Maine), so Alive got the call. It did not disappoint. The blade, on the other hand, was a bit of disappointment. It felt a bit tuggy. We'll see if a little hand stropping brings it back tomorrow or it gets binned after the shave.

This funky/fruity scent was perfect for the day after dealing with an ice storm. I probably should have brought this set to Miami with me last week since this was made for the South Florida Wet Shavers I do believe. This blade might be toast but the Glissant base still held up to it and I had a lovely shave.

Sometimes you've got to go back to basics or time travel to the before-times of wetshaving. The tub of Proraso called out to me this morning and I answered it. The shave was perfectly fine. I even started debating whether I wanted to go old school for AA and do an Italian August with Proraso, MOAR BOAR and either the GC or Valynor razor. I might just be the glutton for punishment around here to pull that off and it's a safer experiment than, say, an ice kamisori. Check back with me on August 1.

At this point in March, we have to give a shoutout to the cleaning crew here for their boundless energy after sweeping up countless crushed Doritos, mopping up far too many spilled Mountain Dews and keeping this place from generally smelling like feet. We're getting closer to crowning a champion, with the winner of today's match up getting the opportunity to take on 'The Otter Slayer', Barrister & Mann. House of Mammoth is going to have to dig deep in this round after squeaking by Spearhead. I think we should all be sleeping in today after the March Madness Championship. I'm up early for a yoga teaching Saturday and The Sheeeeep was calling out to me. Getting close to time to put this away but the weather isn't warm enough yet. This blade is continuing to hold up, but I'm going to call it good after tomorrow's shave.
