Lavender. I like a good lavender scent, but it's not one of my most favorite notes. There's a, well, I'm not quite sure how to describe it... a lot of lavender smells almost astringent to me, on its own, or at least in some where it's by far the most prominent. I'm not always in love when a perfumer turns it up (and thanks to u/curbside_champ for the video).
But I do enjoy lavender in many scents! Homecoming is one example of this. While lavender is by far the primary note here, there's a few others blended in, and it's a nice scent to shave with. It's a very good soap, also, and today's shave was excellent. The splash to follow, Lavanille, is a little less lavender forward, as vanilla is I think also a primary note, and the whole Mousse de Saxe accord is also quite prominent. But there's no mistaking the lavender, and this, despite the alcohol, burned quite a bit less than the Barrister and Mann Eigengrau splash did a couple days ago.
Shaving with my right hand may have helped here, too.
Finally, to continue the pattern of reduction, I picked a perfume which includes lavender, but where it is a minor note in the symphony: la Fougère Parfaite. Here I have to really work to find the lavender, and the overall composition is appreciated without being able to pick out each piece.
