Sonder is one of my favorite summer scents, so I am being optimistic this morning. It is 30 degrees right now. So my hope is the Sonder may force some warm weather? Probably not. I like Stirling but there is something about the Mammoth. And the splash has that great menthol feeling. When I get outside I may not agree. But feels great in here.

Welcome back to Wetshaving Arena. At this point in March, we have to give a shoutout to the cleaning crew here for their boundless energy after sweeping up countless crushed Doritos, mopping up far too many spilled Mountain Dews and keeping this place from generally smelling like feet. We're getting closer to crowning a champion, with the winner of today's match up getting the opportunity to take on 'The Otter Slayer', Barrister & Mann. House of Mammoth is going to have to dig deep in this round after squeaking by Spearhead. Will the Mammoth Mafia be able to make enough deals that potential Stirling users can't refuse to propel them to the championship? Can Stirling's iconic green tubs withstand the onslaught of the Mammoth? Stay tuned!

I had to go with Stirling this morning. It takes up a not insignificant amount of shelf space in the den. Of course, I also got a well-timed delivery of this Bay Rum puck (along with some AS samples and a Bay Rum shampoo bar) yesterday. It was almost like the Universe, or maybe it was Rod, sent me a sign to "Use the Stirling". As much as I love HoM, the power of the Mighty Green Tubs propelled me.

Coffee is going to need to propel me through this day that is stacked to the rafters with meetings. Funzies! Try to enjoy your day and remember to be kind to one another.

So it should be stated up front, I am not a member of Mammoth Mafia. Am I a Mammoth stan? Yes, but I cannot be accused of betraying anyone here. This was a hard choice. My first soap vs. My first fragrance experience. I remember having only 1 tub and having to burn through a Stirling sample before I could switch, and wondering if that was even possible. So were better than others, I started with Almond Creme, got a loaner lotion tub from my wife so I could use barbershop, then on to Pumpkin Spice (the “eh it’s ok” of that group.) In then end 3 things won out:

1. Dance with the one who brought you
2. Wanna see at least one more upset
3. I finally killed that sample of Christmas Eve

Mammoth will always occupy the most of my den, and I’ll probably order Everett 20 seconds after it drops, but today went to the green monster who gave us moar boar. If we keep begging maybe we’ll get our Moos dupe too.

Edited: Also I sorta regret running one blade for all of #MMarch24. This one is over it has some rust and it's just sorta meh. But only 4 more shaves.

I recommend Stirling often and use a Stirling shaving product a couple times a week (along with the bar soap in the shower), but I've gotta give this one to the Mammoth. Ben's fragrance game is MVP for me in this matchup; I reach for his originals more often. Voices continues to climb up my favorites list. I originally skipped the fragrance, but now I'm thinking about picking up a bottle...

As a nod to Stirling, I used the Zenith r/wetshaving Moar Boar, which just wouldn't have happened without Rod's assistance. Thanks again!

First time trying Sacred Scarab. It's musky, animalic, fruity, floral, and powdery take on Kyphi (I'm used to the Olympic Orchids version). Sacred Scarab is expertly blended, but I'm not sure that the various elements of that blend are for me. Makes me want to smell blue lotus in isolation.

Both companies represented today are incredible and pillars of this little hobby that we have here. While I didn’t have a hard time choosing, not choosing one of these brands sucks. I have to give my vote to Ben at HoM not just for my flair but for the things he does with his fragrances. I recently got a sample of his newest scent Everett and the feeling that it brings out in me is something I can’t ignore. As with all of his scents, he has a way with evoking memories and emotions with his scents.

This wasn’t an easy choice for me. If I count the pucks in my den, Stirling wins 4 to 1 (with one more on the way) over HoM. Plus Stirling is (at least bracket-wise) the underdog here, though in the wider world, Stirling is obviously the much bigger dog, so one could certainly argue that bracket seed aside, HoM is still the underdog. But none of that ended up mattering because I just went with my gut. Despite owning more Stirling, I feel more of a connection to HoM, so my gut said place my vote there.

On an unrelated note, I just realized yesterday that I ordered the wrong GEM blades and have been using the Personna Uncoated Stainless Steel blades rather than the PTFE coated ones all this time. I have some PTFE ones on the way so that I can compare, but I have honestly gotten some great shaves out of these blades. Today was the 20th use of this particular blade and it’s still going strong, so I am pretty curious to see how they compare when the new ones arrive.

Shortly after arriving in my wife's hometown, we gathered up our kids, a bunch of nieces and nephews, and a few of my wife's friends and did an overnight beachside camping trip. I had every intention of shaving while camping but life got in the way, so here we are at the 23rd hour squeezing in a shave before the new shave day starts.

The new GEM blade was a bit noisy but was as smooth as butter. Having almost two day's growth I was targeting DFS, but the blade was so efficient that I ended up with BBS without trying.

I'm a huge HoM fanboy, but most of my wife's favorite shave scents are from Stirling, so I broke the tie by selecting the underdog. No loser in today's battle. Happy shaving and have a wonderful day.
