A complete 3 pass shave all around. The XTG pass on my neck was the most awkward due to the angle I needed to hold the razor, but it worked out. Completely irritation, nick, and weeper free.

After a request by u/FMKJuli (the "M" stands for "Doubting Thomas 😉), I've filmed my shave today.

u/sgrdddy's slurry lather (but about a dozen swirl, not a mind-boggling single swirl), two passes with the Weck, splash and frag in 5 minutes. Good shave, not quite BBS, but almost, no irritation, no blood, and most importantly: no hurrying.

Today marked the seventeenth day of this enduring #WAR, and as I faced the mirror, there was a sense of familiarity in the routine. With the razor in hand, I navigated the familiar path, the blade meeting my skin with practiced precision. But today was different, a realization unfolding with each stroke - morning shaves seem to go smoother than those in the mid-afternoon.

The scent of the soap, that lingering aroma of #WAR, was still there, but somehow less overwhelming. It's as if we've grown accustomed to each other, as if the soap itself is showing signs of relenting, just a bit. And as the lather formed, a reflection in the frothy concoction, a reminder that there's an end in sight, that the bottom of the tub is slowly revealing itself.

As the razor glided across my skin, I found myself contemplating the journey so far. The battles, the resilience, the small victories - they've shaped me in ways I couldn't have foreseen. And now, with the seventeenth day behind me, the finish line feels a little closer, a little more attainable.

As the day comes to a close, I'll take this newfound insight with me. Morning shaves hold a promise of smoother paths, and the scent of the soap, once overpowering, now seems to bear witness to the journey we've shared. With each day, I inch closer to that final victory, to the day when this #WAR will be but a memory. Until tomorrow, my journal, I'll continue to navigate this path with determination, guided by the lessons of each day. Onward, through the evolving landscape of this journey.

Every shave gets a little better. The hair shaper feels comfortable in my hand and my technique continues to improve daily. Interestingly, I’m so focused on technique and not slicing myself opened with this hair shaper, I haven’t been thinking too much about the lack of scents in the shave. Got probably my closest shave this morning I’ve had all month! Squeaked out a real ATG pass on my chin and got a really nice shave! There was a tiny amount of blood but nothing that lasted beyond the balm! 2 more weeks of this and I’m sure I’ll keep on getting better and better shaves!

I'm posting this in the early afternoon, but I had a very packed schedule this morning. Because of this, I thought a u/sgrdddy slurry shave was in order. Normally, my 2-pass shaving pattern includes chasing BBS by varying the direction of razor travel in areas that are difficult; primarily the neck, chin and beneath the corners of my mouth. For a change, I wondered how much my shaving time would improve if I used a slurry lather and just did not chase BBS in those areas.

I put the phone in stopwatch mode, opened the soap, got the brush wet under the tap, then pressed the Start button. I pressed the Stop button at 6:29 after putting the top back on the EdP.

No nicks or irritation and, as expected, the shave is not BBS in the areas that I mentioned. I am a bit surprised at how good it is overall. I thought I'd be rating it as Average (which equates to DFS), but it is really better than that, hence the Good rating.

I noted that u/djundjila did a 2-pass slurry lather today, timed it, and made a video (show-off!). It took him 5 minutes and within that time he's showing soap, splash and aftershave to the camera. Like u/djundjila, I did not rush and you might wonder why we emphasize this. Pick up a Weck with a blade in it and contemplate your results if you rush moving it around your mouth, ears, Adam's apple, and so on. Hopefully, you get the point.

No microscope pic today. I did inspect the edge. It just soldiers on ...

Brush before shave 17

Wow! I finally got a pretty good shave. No nicks (not for a while really), but very little irritation on the neck. I ‘d say the neck was ok, but my face shave was great. Smoothest I’ve been all month. Lathering has definitely gotten to where I like it. No reloading even a little, and could have pushed for a third pass with what was still in the brush. Still not getting any new scents from Sonder, just been able to get the citrus, benzoin, and after a while the sandalwood. Maybe some summer allergies are messing with my sense of smell.

Morning shaves happened once and then I immediately didn’t have time to shave this morning. Back to night shaves it is.

Absolute fucking auto pilot shave this evening. I’m fucking exhausted after the first two days back in school. Proud that I can autopilot the X/ATG second pass without hurting myself at this point.

AA Mileage: 78 miles. Skipped yesterday, work was too exhausting. Made myself get 6 miles today. It sucked a lot but I’m glad I did it.
