    Chilled shave and comfortable shave.

    I decided to divert a little from my normal stropping tools for this AA, usually I would use either of my hanging strops (Roughout or Notovan) but I decided to opt for my Supex 77. The Mrs bought this one for me some time ago, but I didn't use it all that much. Though for this AA it has been incredibly useful for daily use so far. I don't have a static place to place my strop for use, so I pack it away each time. This though, it's been incredibly convenient, and honestly just as good (though I am missing the linen a little).

    I feel like the official soundtrack of AA '24 for me should be Pink Floyd's Animals album. I've got Sheep. I've got Pigs. My Dogs are roaming around the house wondering what the hell I'm doing behind the closed bathroom door each morning.

    This brush continues to break in nicely. Before and after pics here. Tips are beginning to split on me and I am liking the way this brush splays. For a soft boar, I also really like the lather quality I'm getting here v. my Semogue 1800. I've been able to get a beautiful sheen from the Sheep. All told, I think I've lost 2 hairs since Thursday so that's good as well.

    Day four with the straight and apparently this is the day that over confidence makes its appearance. I managed to prick the flap on my left ear not once but twice with the point of the razor. I’ve been trying to be super careful to avoid that and today it finally happened. Shaving my chin is starting to be a little bit more natural and I ended up with my smoothest shave yet today. And I did remember to strop before the shave.

    The scrubby boar delivered great lather for the first pass today, but it’s still a hungry little lather hog, so I had to reload for the second pass.

    Ugh, forgot to take a dry brush picture again. Maybe get one tonight, but to my eye not much happening yet. Some split ends, but it mostly looks pretty new. Lather was better today. I usually shave at night and shower in the morning, but on the weekends try to shave earlier. I soaked the brush for about 5 minutes while showering. Normally, I shower after the shave. I like to rinse off the soap in the shower. Today the brush got more of a soak. It was a little softer, but picked up the soap better. Shave will again win no awards for closeness, but less stinging from the splash.

    On a sad note, yesterday our 20 year old cat crossed the rainbow bridge to be with her brother and sister. For the first time in 20 years, we have no cats.

    The 507N is treating me well so far. The tips have a long ways to go before they can be considered broken in, but so far, the scritchiness is very tolerable. I'm very happy with both its backbone and splay, and hoping that as the tips break in, the backbone and splay remain unchanged.

    Probably the roughest shave so far for AA. Hopefully my face acclimates to boar face lathering and a splash for a month straight. Splash burnt real good today. On a good note, I only had to load the brush once today. Lather got a little thin towards the end, but it did the trick.

    Getting better with figuring out how this razor fits my face. Also realized it’s good enough after 2 passes on my chin I don’t need the 3. So less nicks. Sometimes it’s just a razor form factor behaves just different enough you have to learn it.

    Brush is getting better. Still some scritch but not much and I had enough for 2 passes after my minute load. Hydrating that much soap is hard so I may go back to reloading between passes.

    For my photo today Y’all are weighing your soap. So I tried it. Don’t really understand it.

    Quick shave. All went well. I am applying the splash with my face pretty wet and that has helped tremendously with the WS-23 burn. Loaded longer today but still had juuuuuust enough for a 2nd pass.

    Day 4: I spent the day in the high country and got home later than anticipated and ended up rushing this shave, which resulted in a few weepers and some irritation, but that's my fault. Hopefully tomorrow's shave is better. I'm moving into unchartered territory for me: 4 straight days of 2-pass WTG / ATG shaves. I'm going to do one more shave like that tomorrow, and then simulate a "weekend shave" with two days of WTG / XTG to give my face a break.

    Tonight was the best of the 4 until right at the end when I cut myself right on the chin - literally the last little teensy bit I needed to shave. Also the part where I shaved over a previous cut and it started bleeding again, which sucked. Otherwise, it was the best of my shaves so far, which isn't to say it was good, but, it was better than the others. My concern this month is, as with the weck, going to be scarring. I have a few different cuts that I'm really hoping decide to heal well and not scar. The smart move would be to stop now, cut my losses, and let my face heal. But who among us is smart?

    The brush - album keeps breaking in and one of the dreaded black hairs even fell out so there's a win.

    Would I say I'm looking forward to tomorrow's shave? No. Am I optimistic I can keep improving? Mildly. And I guess that'll have to be enough for tomorrow.

    Last night in Boston, one more half day our touring around, over to Cambridge for the Natural History Museum before heading back home on Amtrak.

    Great shave tonight as I’ve come to know the last three nights. Might want to slow down on subsequent shaves to see if I can be efficient enough with the CB plate to just do a 2 pass shave with results. Still amazed this plate leaves me with no irritation around my Adam’s apple. Also. I could be a bit more frugal with my Orbit application, especially near me eyes. Varen is still slick as shit, once I get home I’m going to weigh again to see grams per shave.
