Unboxing

So first shave with the new brush, very decent lather for a brush so stiff, lots of hairs falling out day 1 and noticed a lot of black hairs in the brush. Excited to keep going this month. Shoutout to u/EldrormR with the #RawHoggin

Bit of a nicky shave, tried to get my shave done too fast and that’s not what you do with this razor. Bright side is this balm feels like liquid alum and I guess it works like it too. So far so good on the #RawHoggin front, getting softer splays a bit more.

Day 3 still #RawHoggin loaded less soap today, pasty lather but not too bad, brush now splays much nicer and is a little less scritchy. At least I didn’t receive a visit from my friend Nick unlike yesterday. Animal smell is fading slightly

The brush now splays like a gymnast and the scritch feels great. Losing about a hair per shave so way down from the start. Brush is turning better by the shave

Happy sunday y’all,

Still #RawHoggin forgot to soak my brush today, so just ran some hot water under the sink and did it like I do with a synth. Bit scritchier, but I feel like I get more control by being able to add water. Overall great shave

Brush is coming along nicely, excited to see it at it’s full potential, probably 20-30% there.

The AS is getting a little annoying because it’s just so…astringent? It really does feel like liquid alum. I’ll finish it up and give myself an excuse to buy something else on black friday.

Brush hairs are splitting nicely, decided to do a 1 pass ATG shave today because I didn’t have a lot of stubble. Worked out very well. Blade is still doing what it’s meant to so feeling confident I can go for all August with it.

Brush is coming in really nicely, getting much softer and there is no more animal smell at all. Kinda miss it now that it’s gone, wish some artisan made a wet boar scented soap…I’d buy it.

Getting into a good rythm of a 1 pass shave, need to do a 3 pass shave soon just to see how much of a lather thief this little guy is.

I have to say if my brush stalled at this point I’d be happy with it, soft after a rinse under the sink, great lather and doesn’t steal. I only did 1 pass but relathered twice more to see how it holds up and it makes excellent lather even ok the third pass. Will try my semongue with just a rinse after AA because too much water in the brush might be the reason it steals so much lather.

Blade still holding up great, probably in it’s peak 30 shaves with it seems very realistic.

Lathers are getting better and better, blade is still in it’s prime but let’s call it late prime. 9 more shaves won’t be an issue I don’t think.

The AS getting lighter and lighter in my hand makes me happy.

Not really much to say, brush is pretty much broken in, maybe slight improvements over time but pretty much there.

Blade is nearing the end of it’s usable life, probably gonna veer closer to DFS shaves soon to avoid pain.

I wish I weighed the MWF tub before this because I swear the amount of soap has not changed at all. I’ve gotten like 60 shaves out of this soap abd it looks 75% full.

1 pass shave like I’ve been doing all month pretty much, decided to test how many times I could relather with the soap on my brush. 6 full lathers and the last one looked like the second one on my SOC. September 1st gonna use my SOC with only just running some water quickly on it and not soaking

So with only 1 shave remaining maybe a mini recap of my experience.

This brush is an excellent option and great value at roughly 7.5 euros. The handle is….what it is with an ugly cast line through the logo and a really ugly stamp at the bottom of the brush. It still has a little charm with the mirrored “finish” - it stopped shedding right around a week or 2 in - 2 weeks for the animal smell to be gone - and maybe 2 weeks until it was a pleasure to use

It worked fantastic for me with just running it under the tap and flicking it once or twice, and roughly 5 seconds of loading from the tub got me many passes of great lather. My experience is that it only stole lather if I soaked it.

It’s the right amount of scrubby for me which is probably on the “grittier”

31 uses for this blade and it held really well, maybe could go for another 10. Really showed me that a blade can go for way longer than I would think.

Guess it would be a good time to ask what MRTNG is or stands for because I just beat this mode!
