First time using Murphy & McNeil's AON base. I wasn't expecting much, but the G5C whipped it up into a nice lather and a great shave was had.

I have a like/hate relationship with bay rum. Sometimes it's ok and others it's terrible. This one from CF is very lightly scented and I can mostly only smell cloves. It's ok. At least it didn't burn.

This old Canard base is still awesome, but not quite as good as Darkwing. My face likes them both. This scent always puts a smile on my face face too. Nordost was the obvious pairing so now I'm smelling like orangey goodness all around. Also, Osma++ Of course I used it :) It's a crucial part of my everyday post shave routine.

Yesterday was oranges, today I'm going with lemons. This is one of my top single note scents and probably my favorite citrus scent overall. The aftershave is especially good. It smells exactly like cutting into a fresh, juicy lemon.

My favorite discontinued base has to be Declaration Grooming's Bison base. Newer base? That's tough because there are so many good ones, but I guess I'll go with MacDuff's. I'm impressed with the result every time I lather it.

I picked up this puck of Williams at a local Sav-On Drugs store. I've only used it a couple times as the lather you get from it isn't all that good. I started by soaking the whole thing in a sink full of hot water and proceeded to hand lather. I always face lather so I don't know if a hand lather qualifies as reverse, but I wasn't using my bowl because it still has remnants of a smush in it. The lather actually wasn't as bad as I remember, but still not great. Love the name of it though ;) The Brut splash also came from a drugstore and I believe you can get this frag at them as well, but mine came from the evil empire.

The Brewer, The Brewer, The Brewer. This IPA inspired scent is so good I had to rock the trickhole today. IPA also happens to be my preferred form of adult beverage so this is making me want to do some early imbibing lol. I shall save it for the weekend though.

I don't do shave videos and my favorite wEtTuBeR is u/VisceralWatch so I don't know how I can tell you he's better than himself. I do enjoy the rare watch of an HD Shaves vid, but I enjoy hanging out with him IRL even more as I have had the privilege to do several times. He's good people.

Ah my favorite scent theme. Unfortunately it's on a day where we only get to do one pass. The ATG only shave ended up better than expected though to be honest. I finished up with my favorite aftershave and a wonderful vetiver fragrance that's quite similar to Guerlain, but with better longevity. I can't seem to find it available anywhere so it must be discontinued sadly.

Try This Soap is one of my favorite scents of all time so I've been nursing this tub along. One of the best collabs ever if you ask me. The Zenith horse brush worked really well with the Bison base as it tends to with softer soaps.

This was a floral heavy shave for flower day. I just love the smell of the ubiquitous spring flower lily of the valley. Hence why I had to have a shave soap with the scent. DG Mayflower has been one of my favorite florals since it came out and makes the perfect bridge to JRfaT with its violet heavy greenness.

Yates makes my two favorite razors right now, one of which I'm using all month long. Great people, great company with great products. Plus I'm all for supporting small family-owned businesses that cater to us shaving maniacs. It's so wonderful that we have so many better options than what the billion dollar corporate conglomerates hawk to the masses.

So I was going to skip today because I didn't think I owned any creams and then came House of Mammoth (on their sponsor spotlight day no less) to the rescue! I don't know how I forgot about my sample from the meet up because I love this stuff. It performs great and the "vegetal fougere" scent is just awesome. I think people would really enjoy a full release of this. I know I would, but since that isn't happening as of yet I'm rationing this sample.

Ben and Vida are a great team that produce some fantastic scents and products. We are lucky to have them in the community.

Stirling's Bash was a special edition commissioned by some wetshaving group that I can't recall (EDIT: It was South Florida Wet Shavers). It's a dupe of Grand Soir by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Rod and Mandy were doling out samples at the Maggard meet up last year so that's where I procured them. It's a sweet ambery vanilla scent that is classy and sophisticated. The sweetness of Rogue's Derviche 2 goes quite nicely with it. I know it should be my day to shine with the daily challenge, but I just couldn't carve out any time to do one as of yet. Maybe I'll add it later.

Perfect timing for Roam Two in BaM's new vegan Omnibus base to arrive over the weekend. I found it to perform similarly to its tallow based counterpart, that is to say excellently. The scent is decidedly not the MF Roam of old. It seems to have the same core of herbal grassiness, but swapping the wood smoke for.....fruit? I don't quite understand why currant is here, but it's strong off the top. I'm not saying it's unpleasant, just different. With the splash I get more of the earthy soil and rich tobacco elements with the fruity currant and ginger taking a back seat. The EdT slightly changes things up again which to me is a good thing. This kind of brings everything together in a more balanced way and really evokes that dry-ish herbal scent of a windswept plain with some lingering tobacco in the breeze. It's a really nice scent that I'm excited to get to know more, but fork to my nose I think I prefer the soap scent of the original smoky one. Maybe because there's some sort of nostalgia tied into that one I don't know.

EDIT: Oh, and the Everyday Razor is far too mild for my preference. Even the scalloped "Wild" side. I have no idea who would ever think this is "wild". It's more mild than a Gillette Tech. The solid bar "Mild" side is useless.

Today I'm using literally my only option to hit the theme. I was going to throw this tub on the PIF table at the Maggard meet up, but I decided to keep it because it's pretty well used and the base is really really good. I'm glad I made that decision, Great shave today and these scents go together excellently!

Nothing screams autumn to me more than these three scents. Stirling is a fantastic soap too. I don't get the occasional chuds that crap on it just because of the price. Darkfall on a 90 degree day is a bit rough, but I'll roll with it.

I knew there was at reason I grabbed this sample (along with some others) from Ron at the Maggard meet up. Obviously it's inspired by the frozen treat we all know and love. To my nose it smells like cotton candy, the sweetest thing imaginable, with a hint of orange. I followed it up with another dessert inspired scent, Voices. Sweet mango with sticky rice and boy is this stuff potent. I'll be getting whiffs of it until I go to bed tonight. Have a wonderful Sunday all!

I got this generous sample (among many others over the past few years) from venerable Lather Games judge the one, the only u/frankieIVfingers. To me it smells like Blugere minus the blueberry, that is to say a really nice fougere. Frankie also PIF'd me this whole brand new bottle of Proraso Red splash so I thought it was fitting to use that today as well. He's just an all around cool and generous guy. This frag sample was also given to me gratis from u/Tonality. It is quite enjoyable as well. Not full bottle worthy for me, but I will definitely use up the sample.

For the challenge I think I'm going to nominate Stirling Soap Co. for the next exclusive as long as it's not an Irisch Moos dupe because that smells like toilet bowl cleaner to me ;) Stirling hasn't done a r/Wetshaving exclusive software set, but it seems to be a good fit since he does participate here and did a huge solid with importing the MOAR BOAR brushes. ~~Runner up would be Talent Soap Factory since it seems to be gaining popularity here, but since the maker barely knows we exist (and artisan interaction is something we value pretty highly on the sub) I don't know if it would make sense.~~ EDIT: How could I overlook Spearhead? Forget the TSF stuff. The next one has to be Spearhead or Stirling. Ironbeard is a homegrown Reddit artisan who got his start here testing bases and whatnot. Hawns makes all of his scents and both have a huge following on our sub and both interact with us and even do PIFs here. Can't go wrong!

I donned my Santa hat and had an excellent shave today with the winter 2021 seasonal scent Memories by Soap Commander. Followed up with the festive 'Tis the Season splash and I'm ready for some midsummer holiday spirit.

So yeah. Wildcard Wednesday. I only shave with soap and since Sudsy Soapery is a rarely used brand here (let alone a Jesus themed one from them), I'm betting that I'll be the only person to use it today or at the very least the first one. Don't worry, I already checked ;)

If I ever get around to cleaning my brushes (or before I sell one) I will soak it in a diluted vinegar solution with a drop of dish soap for about an hour then proceed to do a dish soap lather. Good as new!

Bon Monsieur is one of those top shelf soaps that I could settle in and use for an extended period of time. Both the base and the scent are just fantastic. As you can see on the sales page, it includes notes of lavender, bergamot, fir balsam, geranium, oakmoss, carnation, lily of the valley, cedar, patchouli, sandalwood, and musk. 11 notes! Some people have likened it to Drakkar Noir, but I think it's deeper and more complex with less of a sweet "mall cologne" vibe.

For the challenge, loading, lathering, and shaving with my left hand was certainly awkward, but not really all that difficult. Pretty decent finish since I haven't done this since the last Lather Games off hand challenge.

This was my first time using this soap which was kinda making me hungry as I was sniffing it out of the tub. The scent is pancakes with maple syrup and bacon. Yum. Once lathered though it fell flat and smelled like wet cardboard with a bit of bacon grease and syrup spilled on it. Perhaps reminiscent of the wrapper from the the bacon, egg, and cheese McGriddle^(TM) sandwich you just had for breakfast. Splashing on some straight menthol splash and barbershop scented EdP after made for an oddly scented shave, but I guess it wouldn't be LG without a few of those. TGIF! Have a great start to the weekend all.
