First day of the LG. A day of respite before the judging storm begins.

My goal for the LG is to be on theme and have a small blurb everyday.

I've had this soap sitting in my next to use pile and decided to pick it out for today. I don't know much about the soap maker except that I vaguely remember reading that this brand was out of Brazil? Base is quite slick and nice and the scent is a pleasant mix of what I think is iris, violets and a fruity element, likely the plum note.

It's a rainy grey day and I was debating pairing this with something dank and green to play with the other notes. I ended up picking Caron's Lavender+Vanilla+Musk combo with Pour Un Homme and Aphrodite's sweet fruity rosy floral combo to play with the fruity floral notes. The aftershave is quite strong and I can just feel it radiating from my face like a cloud of rose fruit.

Label quality is absolute shit and not even waterproof, all the ink is starting to wash of it, so that is going to be interesting.

Super busy day today, since we had good weather. Lots of home and outdoor chores.

There's only one Bay Rum that I really like. I haven't tried it in the Omnibus base, but B&M's Bayrum in the Excelsior base has a really bright punch ty sweet warm citrus (sometimes it almost feels like it has a metallic tang), with a nice balance of warmth from the Bay, spices and whatever sweet resinuous element is in it.

I was initially thinking of using Caties Bubbles Reflections as a complement, but I forgot and ended up seeing Stirling's Bonaparte and decided to use it. Some folks say that it smells like their meemaw's toe jam, but I beg to differ. It has a wonderful astringent greenness and spice, that I like a lot.

88 Chestnut Street nicely softened everything out, with the neroli dominant citrus.

Glad that u/Priusaurus still has the thrill. Day 1 post was fun to read.

Forgot I had alum, until I saw the challenge today.

This GD AFter the Fire is the one with Duck Fat, back from the day when there was drama over duck fat in soap bases. I forget what the actual drama was.

I really like the scent in this base. It's a beautiful smokey green scent, with resinous tocuhes. I got a sample of this scent from the new base and sadly the scent in the new base is nowhere close to this, just sniffing without lathering.

I decided that I wanted to use 88 Chestnut Street again as my fragrance, because it was so hot and humid today. The only nice bridge in my aftershave was Colonia Balsamica, which to me has darker, perhaps slighly herbal green touch .

Decided to dig up T&S Sasparilla for today. It smells like how most T&S Soaps smell - muddled and like hippy patchouli, with a little bit of Sasparilla thrown in. Overally pretty nice.

Wanted to amp it up with that infamous 7x and finished it off with some warm citrus from Cologne Russe.

The heat and humidity have been through the roof

We had a super hot and humid day, so using Proraso Sensitive (I think it's sensitive, didn't smell too much like the Green) was nice. Paired it with my trusty Nivea balm and Dior Vetiver

Fun pairings.

I tried to use T&S Sasparilla for KISS and that idea backfired. So it will be used again today.

How could I not use 7x for my aftershave??

Decided to go with Weinstrasse for that lovely white grape top note. I can say this pairing did not work, but I do enjoy the fragrance on it's own.

Favourite youtuber atm is Zen Shaves. Haven't seen anythnig in a while from him and have been wondering what's going on.

Got all my Vetiver in, from none other than the current king of wetshaving vetiver - CB

Revolutions is a robust blend of vetiver and cedarwood, might also be something else in there. Pairing it with Pine Barrens and Encre Noir Sport was the way to go today

Slammed all day today and just got around to shaving.

I've totally forgotten about how nice Convergence. There's a smooth leather note that I picked on, while shaving with the nicest hnt of sweetness. WEnt with A&E Corinthian Leather which is a really nasty punchy leather and this great patchouli scent for bed time.

I don't think I have a crazy big order from Maggards, but over the years, Maggards has definitely put a big dent in the pocket.

I need to kill this tub of soon.

I don't know ho much I like the Peach and Cognac scent. I liked it a lot initially but I feel like as I've done through the tub, the peach note has lost it's appeal. Perhaps it's the changing seasons, where I'm craving a juicy peach with some tartness and a little watery note.

The other pairings were just enjoyable. D&G L'Imperatrice No 9 is a nice fizzy scent that has a lot of lovely fruity notes in it.
