MARCH MADNESS!!! LFG!

Kicking the month off with an easy decision for me.

It's not easy being a Chicago fan. You have things like this. And things like this..

Also this.

And this.

Even when things are looking up, things like this happen.

We have to deal with a stubbornly high crime rate that won't go down and that we get beat over the head with all the time in the media. There's our traffic - we're the best at traffic.

But it's still a great place to live and work. And it gave birth to one of the top artisans in Wetshaving. So I hope our beloved Chicago Grooming Co. is able to pull it off against Big Soap himself.

But even if she doesn't, I had a great shave today. And that really makes this whole thing worthwhile.

This wasn't an easy choice, but ultimately my love for Pomona (and this brush) came out on top.

Hey, Courtney and Phteven, I hear all the cool kids are doing sub-exclusives. What about a limited-run sub-exclusive of Pomona? If it helps, I'm willing to fire up my Microsoft Paint to make a custom label.

I probably shouldn't be trusted with the artwork though, because I got the idea of using AI to make it, but then I started having it make pictures of famous people shaving. Betty White is probably the most unsettling.

I remembered that this set is super stronk. In fact, I feel like I avoid using it as much as I would otherwise because of that fact. But the Zingari balm is among the best, and the soap is no slouch either.

The strength isn't as bad as I remembered, though I did take care to spray and walk through the extrait rather than spray it right on. I do remember smelling it in my office and car for days afterwards the last time I directly applied it.

If y'all don't have Alive, you're missing out. It's the best spring scent, and it's not even close.

Though, Heather is good too. And it's on sale currently.

Thought I'd kill a sample today, turns out that he sent enough for two or three shaves. So now I'm stuck with some soap in my lather bowl. But it was a pretty good soap, and smelled a lot like SSL without the lime. So figured this frag was a natural flanker.

Last use of the B9A+ before I get it cleaned up and sent back to its rightful owner. I don't want him going all Qui Gon Jinn on me.

Wait... that might be the wrong Liam Neeson character.

Anyway... I've not been shy that this is my favorite set. I think I have a handful of shaves left in this tub - it's disappearing at an alarming rate. Fun fact - if you sort by "best selling" at Maggards, this is their best selling HoM soap. I would have expected it to be either Hygge or Indigo, but I was wrong.

This was a hard one for me: * Tubs killed: 1 DG, 1 NO * Scents in my top 10: 1 DG (Albizia), 1 NO (Rawr) * I find performance to be the about the same. * I like branding on the NO better, but the printed tape on the sides of the DG tubs is cool. * In the end, I wanted to wear this frag, and all of my DG soaps are strong and would overpower it. Plus, I like the Otter better than... whatever is on the DG label

Turn n' Shave on loan from u/J33pguy13. This brush is great. The handle is super comfortable, and the brush is just about perfect to me. Little-to-no scritch, lots of backbone but will splay nicely when pushed. Reminds me a lot of u/infernalinternal's B9A+, actually. Note: I totally boomered this post and posted it in yesterday's SOTD thread. Sorry if people got tagged twice.

I had a perfectly enjoyable shave teed up. Rope Swing, plus a Stirling balm and EdT to round out the shave. I even posted it to Discord before I intended to go shave.

Then I flipped through the thread before I went off to shave, and decided to join my Remote Learning brothers.

Why? I have no idea.

The soap is... fine. It smells like Fritos. Whatever.

The splash is nice. SBS splashes are good, and the scent is nice.

God damn this frag is terrible. It doesn't smell like nacho cheese to me. It might have some Mountain Dew-adjacent notes, but mostly I smell vomit. People get all worked up about Secretions Magnifiques, but I'd personally take blood and semen over vomit.

I honestly might need to go shower. It smells so bad.

Or.... maybe I just cover it up.
