I'm looking forward to a month long run with this stuff. I'm very comfortable using a Weck and the brush has over 100 uses so it's really broken in. I chose the same soap that I used last year. I love the mutton tallow base and even though this one is unscented, I get almost zero animal smell from it. The little smell there is is inoffensive. I'm starting on the 85th use of the blade. I'm confident it will still last the entire month.

Such a nice shave today. This soap base is so kind to my skin. It isn't harsh at all and doesn't dry my skin out badly like some other soaps. I could so easily use Sheep as my one and only. The unscented route definitely has an appeal to it. Most of the balms I use are unscented.

Another really enjoyable shave with some mutton tallow. This soap punches way beyond its price point for me. I am on of the fortunate souls that isn't bothered by lanolin. Throw in mutton tallow and I'm all set.

One thing I haven't mentioned yet this month is the quality of the Stirling balm. It's very effective on my skin. It's definitely a rebuy. I haven't used it much before this month because I tend to use one u scented balm at a time until it's killed then move on to another one. I'm on the verge of killing a bottle of ZM balm, but I wanted to use the Stirling balm with the Stirling soap.

Another nice shave with some mutton tallow. I used this tub last year for Austere August and its showing signs of use, but these big 5.8 ounce pours last forever. There is zero chance of killing this tub in a month. This blade is well used, but I'm confident it's going to last the entire month.

Today is the birthday of a very special friend. Happy Birthday S!! She is going on vacation with her extended family and I'm taking care of her menagerie of pets. I hope I don't fuck up.

Starting off the week right with another good shave with this stuff. The Sextoblade is my most used razor. And I have a lot of razors to choose from. It took me several shaves to get the hang of it, but now it's second nature. I've got over 500 shaves with it so I guess I better be comfortable with it. And the brush has over 100 shaves on it. I suppose I could/should have picked some stuff that I don't have much experience with to use this month. Maybe I'll do that next year.

Nothing new to say...literally. Using the same stuff everyday is nice in the sense that I don't have to seize up trying to decide what to use. I usually don't overthink my brush or razor choices and my post shave is pretty much the same all year long anyway. Where I freeze is trying to choose a soap. That is another indication that I should get rid of most of my soaps and just keep a few. I'll never use all of them anyway.

Finishing out the work week with a nice shave. I'm spending zero time thinking about what to use. And the more I use the mutton tallow the more I like it if that's possible. Right now I can honestly state that mutton tallow is my favorite base. That opinion could change if a I used another base for days on end, but I have liked mutton tallow from the first use.

Twelve days in and settling in for the rest of the month. I can't overstate how good mutton tallow is on my skin. The blade will probably hold up for the rest of the month, but the Lucky Tiger is just about gone. I'll likely have to break open my backup bottle.

I was getting bored with this stuff about a week ago, but I'm back to really enjoying using it. The mutton tallow is getting it done in high fashion for me. I can see me someday getting rid of all/most of my scented soaps and just using unscented bases. It really simplifies things.

I can't possibly overstate how well this mutton tallow base works for me. It doesn't dry my skin nearly like a lot of soaps do.

This bottle of Lucky Tiger likely won't make it to the end of the month. But I always have a backup bottle on standby.

I started taking cold showers a couple of weeks ago. It's not an uncommon practice I've come to realize and after listening to a podcast that talked a bit about the benefits of cold plunges and cold showers I thought I would give it a try. I have to say that I really hate it every time in the initial moments, like...really really hate it. But after a minute or two I get a little accustomed to it. The hype about the after effects is real. I never thought my mood would benefit from a cold shower. Maybe I'm fooling myself. Maybe I'm just so fucking glad to be out of that frigid experience. I'm not sure either way, but I'm going to stick with it for now.
