So a first for everything, LG and now AA, well ish anyway, I did partake in 'Fat February' which I used Mitchells for the entire month but the hardware was switched up daily. I didn't see anything so I'm not sure whether you're supposed to announce your intent but I'll try to go the extreme and use the same blade throughout as well, a bit of a cop out with GEM, but for my first year I thought I'd ease myself in. At least for these first two weeks it should be easy as I only have two sets in tow (this and GN Ernest), though I'll have to make sure the blade is protected for the return leg.

Also going to take part in the Raw Hoggin challenge, having picked up a brand new SOC Taj, here's the unboxing. I saw these in the early days of starting this 'hobby' and really fancied one, but just never got around to picking one up so this was a perfect excuse. I might change it up but I'll do a pre/post shave pic each day to see how the knot develops.

Day 2 of AA and RawHoggin, the brush was quite soft out of the box yesterday but it is taking a bit of effort to get a decent lather. At home this thing usually explodes fairly swiftly, I'm hoping it's part of the break in but it could be the water. I'll give it a bash tomorrow, perhaps bloom the soap, then failing thatI might try some bottled water and see how I get on.

Had to correct yesterday's every from the Sabre to the Predator, I had intended to use the sabre but switched it up last minute when I packed. Clearly I was tired yesterday morning.

Setup pic possibly to follow, we'll see whether I get a chance, it's a mad rush each morning to get the little one ready for the day of swimming and playing.

Day 3 of AA and #RawHoggin, still struggling with this lather. Bloomed whilst in the shower, gave plenty of slickness but no volume, luckily I find the Shield in the mid/mild range so the shave was possible. Bottled water tomorrow and we'll see how it plays, after that it's boiled/cooled water.

Day 4 of AA and #RawHoggin, significantly better lather today, though still not quite the norm. I stuck with the standard tap water but decided to try and use the brush like a normal person rather than abuse it like it's done something to insult me. Seemed to work well enough, I'll stick with this and see if it continues to improve. I've not experienced this sort of thing with a new boar previously so I assume it's something else, but I might be wrong.

Day 5 of AA and #RawHoggin, another improvement today, I still don't think it's the brush but the balance of water here, tomorrow should see it sorted.

What forgot to do was to take pics of the soap post use from day 1, I'm curious to see how much Soap I go through in the month so might start tracking that. Curious to see how it compares in terms of uses vs K2E.

Day 6 of AA and #RawHoggin, seeing some nice splits appearing, even softer now. Seems to be generating and releasing a lot better but I think that's mainly me dialing in the water. Never taken me this long to sort it out before, probably too much of a rush in the morning to get out swimming, or rather being nagged by the little one.

This shield razor is remarkably good considering it's price point being Ti, to be fair though I'm more looking forward to trying out the Atelier Vestige, I'm just hoping my turn on the passaround doesn't come around too quickly and I can finish off AA first.

Day 7 of AA and #RawHoggin.

Brush just gets better and better, it has a bit more backbone than my Galahad which is nice. I would like it to be a bit closer to my AP brush set with with a TGN knot, but you can't have it all.

Taking a leaf out of /u/gorgbob 's book (or rather accidental book), decided a quick run under the tap rather than soaking. Though it was already improving this seems to have sorted it, cracking lather. The brush was obviously holding a lot more than I thought and wasn't coming out with the squeeze/flick. Another plus point, I haven't had any hairs drop over the past couple so that seems to be easing off as well, Happy Days!

Good shave this morning, nice smooth finish. I liked this Shield razor as soon as it arrived but I haven't really given it all that much face time. I've tended to opt for the sabre, WR3 or MMOC (or is it OCMM), which to be fair is a disservice. It's a cracking little razor, forgiving yet efficient enough for my needs.

Last few days on holiday now before heading back to North Wales, have to make the most of it swimming with the little one.

Day 11 of AA and #RawHoggin.

Decent shave and still loving the scent. Brush is excellent, whipping up a good lather, decent density and good enough backbone plus it looks nice. This seems to have broken in really quickly, much quicker than my TGN knot did.

Getting all packed up now ready for the off tomorrow, shave kit will be the final thing to be packed. Last full day of sun, sea and drinks!

Not particularly long journey time but it felt like it, delay in Turkey followed by the flight then a further couple in Border Control then the boring drive across North Wales in the dark. Luckily though all the bags came through in one piece so the challenge can continue for myself.

So this was a bleary eyed, swift shave, before going back to chill out before it's back to the work grind tomorrow. Still a decent finish but I expect better tomorrow!

Grand old shave in familiar water, nice smooth shave for an excellent finish. Brush is brilliant, not sure how much break-in there is left in it to be honest but the game will continue.

Excellent shave this morning, brilliant lather, still carried on with wetting the brush rather than soaking and still seems to work a treat, this brush is excellent.

I fear there may be a couple of hard weeks ahead though, they've been a while in transit but I'm expecting Woodshop, Shire 2, Shiloh, The Master and Lothur The Three Amigos along with a whole host of Summer Break samples. The lather games and homecoming are to blame for the Summer Break splurge…it's going to be tough, wish me luck!

Pleasant and uneventful shave but happily I got an elusive complement from the Mrs after yesterday's, definitely a good choice for the month.

In other news, the new brush handle and samples arrived from SBS, picked up all of the ones I was missing (Val, Bell, Rope, Prom & Cannon). There's at least two possibly three in there that will likely convert into a full set so now I can't wait until September just to give them a bash! Though now I've come to it, I think the lather games may have induced a love-hate relationship. I loved it as it was a good laugh, my wife hates it because there's yet another artisan on my radar with even more deliveries incoming…I'll live with it.

Decent shave this morning, a little tingle on application of the AS but nothing dramatic!

That's it now though, I need, not want, need this AA to end. Happy camper after yesterday's mail drop saw my LG winnings of the MOAR Boar rock up. It really is a weighty beast and now I can't wait to break in another boar and destroy some of my stockpile. Thank you again to /u/Ironbeard_SYS

It's definitely taking a bit more effort to get the same finish, a few more touch ups than I would usually do. Still no irritation but definitely lost some smoothness. The star is the brush though, wish I'd got one of these sooner.

Decent shave, I'll be able to push through on this blade but I think around shave 22 I would have changed it out. To be fair though it's traveled from a different country in a makeshift sheath and been dropped a couple of times, so it has fared well.

Decent enough this morning, both myself and the family are still enjoying the scent on this, it's still not the Mrs' absolute favourite but it's up there so I'll definitely be replacing this one when it bites the dust.

We're on the final straight, my mind is already turning to what I'm going to use on Friday. Think it might have to be the Tradere SB plate, see whether I've wasted my money over the OC I already have. But the software, that's where I'm spoilt for choice, decisions decisions.

Good enough, slight tingle on the splash but still nothing dramatic. If pushed at least I know with the meagre 200 blades in stock I have enough to last me for the next decade and a half.

And that's all folks, the end of AA and the final day of RawHoggin. It wasn't difficult to use the same software for the full period, I do really like this stuff. The hardware was another story, with the Tradere SB and the MOAR Boar showing up on my doorstep has been nagging on my mind.

I won't be taking a blade this long again though, the last few days weren't 100% comfortable. I think I said it before but around day 23 is probably the max for me with this razor.

I do have a slight problem though, there's something that appears to have developed in my Soap tub that I've never seen before. Despite hours of googling it continues to baffle.

The brush though, this was the star. A little bit of a wobble on the first few days whilst I struggled to get a decent lather, but after the first week it was absolutely plain sailing. It has developed fantastically well (though there doesn't seem to be a massive visual difference but it's definitely there) and will continue to see regular use in my rotation.

Happy shaves everyone, I won't be participating in sample September, or at least not entirely. I've got a few SBS samples to trial but other than that the full sets are calling!
