.#Challenge Really who can miss a base with all the options nowadays, not me. I got a little bored of chasing soap bases when I fell into the hole of buying absolutely any new base that came out, like an addict, now I buy every new scent that comes out so no complaints. Choosing the finest soap base can be challenging, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of MacDuff's soaps.

I went shopping at a couple of supermarkets today and noticed a decrease in shaving products (excluding cans) since the last time I went into this section. I only bought Wilkinson's soap out of curiosity, I've never tried it.

Curiosity has been paid, I didn't enjoy the shave, the lather was airy and stinky, and I don't know how to describe the scent, could be watery Arko. The Gillette is too mild and the blade is dull. The best thing is that I didn't have to face lather with this soap and the bald-syndrome-boar-brush, the bowl had the privilege.

.#FOF The soap had an awkward scent not to say stinky, it was annihilated by the childhood memory of a barbershop's scent.

.#FOF Today Tropical Ipa from Zingari, added more tropical fruits from the after shave, and rounded with the Baldessarini's sea WetTubing, those I saw have retired and I have got bored of seeing men shaving, it's like when I saw kids watching someone playing videogames, I prefer to play myself.

Today election was Catie's 322 soap, but I couldn't decide if it smelled more like vetiver or patchouli so I opted for DG Dirtyver. It's on my top tier of vetiver scented soaps, I can't recommend it enough to all vetiver lovers.

The Wade&Butcher arrived in a "decent" shape for a late 1800's straight razor, but the scales needed a little hydration and polishing, I couldn't save the pivot pins when I had to disassemble the blade to clean the rust in the tail and pivot area. I had to replace it with a new one, the scale wedge pivot is the original.

The blade was a little bent I needed to correct the geometry to beign able to hone it and clean some ugly rust holes on the edge.

.#FOF Not too much creativity today, begin and finish with Dirtyver, but in the interlude Aion Vetiver introduced some air in the composition with a less vetiver oriented scent, in this the vetiver is more of a vessel for the others scents than the main note, it remains me to Pannacrema Vetiver PURE2O soap, with a colonia scent.

I almost forgot today's #CHALLENGE write-up. In one word, NEVER. I never shaved against the grain so I just did first my second pass only that's across the grain and ended the shave. I may not win the points, but I saved the face.

.#FOF Today's election was for the colour, but it worked scent-wise too. Sasquets supported the Trouble notes giving the soil some animalistic vibe, the Sung's soapy fougere added complexity and variety to the whole picture.

.#FOF Lea has a mentholated scent with traces of sandalwood, the tradi -one of the best sandalwood out there- goes in the same line but with better sandalwood and more complexity, Alvarez Colonia pairs well with the after, with a more prominent cedar note but with sandalwood too.

I usually prefer original scents on soaps but this time I bought Voodoo because my son gave me D&G K and I wanted the full kit.

I've enjoyed my first shave with the Weck, I don't understand why shavers are so scared of this thing. It's like shaving with a shavette, that said, I've only used a shavette once and a Feather a couple of times. I've used weck original blades from a 5 blades package marked at 50¢.

The EJ was the first razor I bought when I began wet shaving in 2015. Chesire was purchased in 2016 along with Hallows from BaM, in what was my first order from Will.

From how to putty a wall to razor skating on pasty lather, wiping the blade between passes. Here's how it should be, not like the above.

I wonder why judges try to make our lives miserable by ruining shaves, we aren't on Austere August yet!

The soap I had planned for today was Moroccan Sands, one of the best Oud's out there, from Nanny Silly, but a brief search gave me the pleasant surprise that she has returned last year and she's selling her soaps on Ebay, facebook & ATG forum. I will stock some.

The replacement is from a Spanish soap maker, which is no longer in business. Great soap and scent. For the brush, I used another one of my top brushes, from a maker that gone out of business too.

.#challenge I have never cut myself badly while shaving nor have any notable accidents but a couple of years ago if I recall well, while I was honing a straight razor it slipped from my hands, hitting the table and falling to the ground with the luck (because it didn't break) that it landed on my ankle before, leaving a memory of my clumsiness.

Today I climbed the mountain to the cave called "Cova de l'Aigua", inside which there is a small torrent of water, I filled the bowl with cool water, took off my boots and sat on the edge of the cave's stairs while looking at the horizon I whipped up an impressive lather.

I made two passing, with the grain and across the grain. The razor slid as if across buttered toast, cutting through the beard like barbed wire without mercy.

I stuck my head into the torrent of water in the cave, poured the aftershave over my face and then the cologne generously all over my torso.

It was an awesome manly shave on the wild that left my face softer and shinier than my legs after the leg-shaving day.

In reality, everything was in my head, neither work nor my knee allowed me to climb the mountain, but I could climb the ladder to the garage and dream about what the perfect shave would have been like.

I even chose the best soap for the shave, from the artisan description: "...Perfect for those days when you have to spend your days behind a desk, but would rather be out enjoying nature."

Here is the kitchen shave, I have shortened it so you don't get bored watching my back while I shave, at least you can hear the sound of the blade cutting the beard, the birds and the fridge's "murmur" (which I overlooked until I reviewed the video).

The razor in the photo does not correspond to the one I shaved with. This morning I sharpened both razors and I planned to shave with the Leresche and leave the Boker for tomorrow, but I had them both in my pants pocket (don't do this) and in the end, I shaved with the first one that came out of it.

.#FOF Today I wasn't sure what to combine with "Voices", and in the end, I chose randomly. Ozonica has an artificial scent that I don't really like and Jermyn smells good but it has nothing to do with Voices. I don't think I will repeat the combination, I have to look for better options.

Last minute shave had to improvise. The first thing I found in the refrigerator, was cottage cheese, why not! I mixed it with honey for the sticky factor.

I glued the blade to the coffee stick with two components fast glue.

No four-legged animal suffered any harm or torture during the recording of this video.

There was a lot of tension in the shaving, recording with one hand and shaving with the other, I was on the verge of giving up a couple of times, letting go of the phone and finishing the shave with two hands but I continued until the end. I survived the experience (turn sound on).

I didn't record it completely because at the beginning of the second pass, I forgot to put the phone in video recording and I took a photo instead.You miss the part where I scream and whimper.

.#FOF Eclipse is an incredible scent, it's so well blended I can pick some notes of tobacco, leather, civet, musk, and the wood notes of cedar & sandalwood, it's a wild fragrance. Kannakis is a patchouli bomb in a green forest. I followed it with the beautiful aroma of Midnight Stag, leather, oil, smoke, gasoline... Lather games cannot be closed better.
