I’m trying to find the right blade/use combo for this razor. It’s just too mild I think – I can’t get those tough hairs on my neck and when I try too hard, I just get irritation. Fortunately the SOS spray should prevent me from getting any redness. Today’s theme was a good excuse to use the Bay Rum soap as I haven’t really used it much. The GBS puck soaps aren’t my favorite but it is the only bay rum or nautical theme I have. I’ll use the Aqua fragrance to stay on theme; I hope it pairs all right with Black Watch.

I really like using For Chicago and it fit today’s theme well. Italian Barber describes it as “masculine floral” with jasmine and gardenia. Fitting - I just yesterday bought two jasmine plants at a local nursery to plant outside with my wife (like, she and I will do it together - she isn’t buried outside my house by where I’ll plant the jasmine).

Anyway, it’s a fragrance I like a lot more than I thought I would. She bought it for me a few months ago and I e come to really love it, especially when I have to be in meetings or around people professionally and don’t want to have a strong smell about me. It smells very much like I think an old barbershop would; it reminds me of what I remember dads using when I was a kid (not in a weird way like I went around smelling my friends’ dads. Just like what I remember adult men smelling like). It’s more of a “work” smell; not so much a “date night” fragrance. And I think it’s the only mentholated aftershave I have, so that’s a nice refreshing treat when I use it.

To go for the color challenge, I matched the blue in the label with my WCS razor by attaching WCS’ huge blue 175BL handle. I like a heavy razor but this one is a little unwieldy for me. I used a blue Yaqi synthetic brush as well, and I hardly ever use that brush so this was an excuse to use it. The blue Aqua Man cologne completes the challenge for me (I know it’s called Man Aqua but I like to think it’s the cologne Aquaman would use).

I’m writing this instead of paying attention to my virtual staff meeting this morning so I’ll add the photo later. Anyway, great shave today. Very little feedback from the alum and the SOS spray will take care of any potential redness or irritation. It’s amazing stuff, dudes. (And that’s a gender-neutral use of “dudes”).

I used the Proraso cream thinking it was the only cream I had, then realized after the Cremo i’ve been using as appreciate is also a cream. So I kind of used two. I tried the Lord platinum blade for the first time too. I’m not sure yet what I think. It felt like it was tugging a lot, but I got a really nice smooth shave and don’t seem to have any cuts or irritation. i’m trying to Passo aftershave for the first time too. We’ll see how my wife feels about it.

I know I won’t win the heart of anyone on this sub using PAA, but this is the only dupe lather I own. I got it before u/tsrblke told me the company is basically co-managed by Thanos and Darth Sidious and I feel like it would be pretty wasteful to throw out or stop using a product I already own. It’s a dupe of a Tim Ford - I think it’s called Asian Plum or something like that. Anyway, you’ll all be happy to hear I did get some irritation on my neck and it is unpleasant (I’m not sure I love the Vokshod blade - does everyone else love these? And what’s up with the great shave I got with the Lord Platinum yesterday? Is that a good blade?).

Ariana & Evans seems to be made in the Union state of Connecticut. And I really dig the smell of Pistachio.

I took out a small chunk of my finger the other day when I was placing my Lupo into my razor stand and accidentally knocked the finger against this WCS razor in the next slot over. It didn’t hurt at all but suddenly it was bleeding a lot. So I changed the blade. Got another surprisingly good shave using the WCS and a Lord Platinum. I haven’t heard a lot about this blade but I got a tuck in a sample pack and will probably want to get some more.

The AP brush with Gelousy knot was a Father’s Day gift and I’m really enjoying it.

First shave with the SuperSlant and it was great. I’ll need to use it a few more times to form a good opinion but I got a great shave today and it handles those tough spots on my neck beautifully without redness or irritation like I get from milder razors. I went with the L2++ plate to start - I would have gone with the L2++OC or the L3 but neither were available. I may try one of those in the future. I love the thing so far. It was a Father’s Day gift from my amazing wife and daughter but the top cap didn’t come until yesterday.
