Here is my unboxing video and my gear I will be using for August. It was surprisingly soft and comfortable on it's first use. I've only used HoM soap two times before and it lathers and performs like a dream. I am psyched to use this gear for a month straight. I actually love the WS-23 in this splash.

Edit: Forgot to add that I am doing the MRTNG's Ultra Nightmare Mode.

Brush seemed slightly softer today, but this Zenith brush is super soft out of the box. This brush is EATING soap. Even with reloading the brush I had a a pretty thin lather. However, I think that will slow down with use. This soap makes such a goodt lather even when not optimal.

Much needed shave after chopping trees and yard work. This brush is still mocking me. I keep needing to reload after the second pass, but the lather is always good. I can feel my face has been more sensitive and chewed up after these last couple days. Must continue hoggin' on.

Probably the roughest shave so far for AA. Hopefully my face acclimates to boar face lathering and a splash for a month straight. Splash burnt real good today. On a good note, I only had to load the brush once today. Lather got a little thin towards the end, but it did the trick.

The best shave yet with this gear so far. Brush is holding lather well, or at least enough for all passes. I think soaking the brush for about 10-12 minutes is the sweet spot. I tried u/tsrblke advice with a wetter brush and it seemed to help quite a bit. Made lather easier and felt better on the face.

Nothing remarkable today besides making a great lather. Normally I toss a blade after 5 uses, so as of now I am going into unmarked territory, but the blade still feels good.

In the spirit of AA, I am learning that I don’t need to use as much pressure as I have been. Less pressure with this soap and razor makes it feel like it’s skating on ice. I’m also starting to notice the amber and dried fruit more and less of the wood and tobacco of this soap. I really like it, even for August.

Progress with the brush seems to have plateaued, but I can tell the blade is starting to dull. The smoothness is noticeably absent.

My first AA has come and gone. Had to drop out of the Mafia, but still got familiar with the soap and it is great. Zenith brushes are awesome, but I may go for a lower loft and bigger knot next time. Realized I really like the M plate, smooth enough for every day, but not mild at all.
