August 1, 2023 - The day we go to War

Day one of making bad decisions, but we're gonna make it through this! My shave this evening was actually fairly pleasant without being overwhelmed with the scent of this set. The one thing that was noticeable though was the boar stank. I'm actually shocked that when lathered all I could smell was the brush and not the soap. Lather was pretty pathetic with this new brush and just overall pasty. I probably could've tossed more water at it, but I'm doing my best to not slap War soap splatters everywhere while lathering.

So day 2 was pretty uneventful as far as the shave goes. The brush seemed to loosen up a tiny bit and not make me work as hard for a slick lather compared to the paste from yesterday. I do believe it only took that 1 shave for war to consume the pig stank. I didn't exactly inform my wife of the choice of software for the month, but she stopped me on the way through the house with a concerned look on her face. She's not happy at all for this scent and all I could tell her was I'm not happy with it either, but here we are. This is life for the next month.

Day 3 - Uneventful aside from finding a bump or something on my cheek and getting a little nick. Other than that War is still kinda meh, the brush is still feeling better and Personna blades still suck.

Day 4 - Actually a decent shave tonight overall. It's certainly not my best shave, but can guarantee it won't be my worst of the month. I was able to navigate my mapping a little bit better than I have in the previous few shaves, but I'd say that's likely due to slacking on my open blade usage prior to AA. Slowly getting to the point of being nose blind to the War and it's getting less and less offensive every shave. Unfortunately I'm sure the people around me likely wouldn't say the same, but it's making things tolerable at this point.

Day 5 - Just another day of Weckoning in the trenches of War. Nothing eventful aside from hitting the same raised spot on my face from a few days ago. Today was the second time my wife said something about the scent and we are only on day 5 and I had to remind her it's here until the end of the month and I PROMISE it's gone. I did offer to move my shaves to the guest bathroom and she said no so any suffering beyond this might be on her. So I think I'm just gonna add a counter for the number of days that I've been told I disappoint my spouse with my life choices this month.

Day 6 - I was honestly not looking forward to the shave this evening because it's just been a long day and I wasn't really feeling it. /u/putneycj tagged me in a post earlier about the potential of open blade closeness and I decided I was going to motivate myself tonight to chase that BBS finish with an ATG pass. Didn't quite get there on my neck because I've got some spots causing me issues that aren't shaving related, but everything else is absolutely spot on. Definitely the best shave I've had this week. Didn't hate the Personna as much as I have been, but perhaps that's just the nature of the blade sort of breaking in and losing that keen edge. Great shave overall!

Day 7 - I really got nothing after this shave. One week down thank goodness, but this month is certainly going to drag along like this. I forgot my daily progress picture for my brush album so that's cool. It'll bother me the rest of the month that I'm one image short. Blade still felt okay for the most part this evening, but didn't feel like chasing anything more than the required 2 passes tonight.

Day 9 - Fairly solid shave this evening I think. I keep trying to evaluate how I feel about this Personna blade on a day by day basis and it just seems to change every day. It’s doing the job and giving a passable shave that sometimes turns out better than others. It’s just not the most comfortable blade I’ve ever used and I guess that’s just what’s bothering me at this point. This would’ve been one of those you pulled from a sample pack and gave it 1 shave only to toss it afterwards.

Day 10 - The repetitiveness of this month is starting to set in at this point. We're only a third of the way thru and I've got nothing to complain about because I'm nose blind to War, the Weck is a solid shaver and the Personna is still making it. Maybe something fun and interesting will happen with my shave tomorrow.. Probably not though

Day 11 - Late night shave that I kinda had to force myself to do. This one was mostly okay, but I was in kind of a hurry to get it over with and laid the blade straight down and got a tiny nick. Nothing that wasn't easily fixed, but still annoying when it happens.

Day 13 - Very smooth and easy shave tonight for the most part. The only slight issue I'm having which is a carryover from last night and it's that the blade feels significantly rougher on one side of my face. It didn't start doing that until yesterday and I wanted to see if it happened again today and it did. I need to put marks or stop mid shave and flip it to see if it's me or this garbage Personna.

Day 14 - Every single day I've shaved I'm wondering how in the world this blade is supposed to make it to the end of the month. It's still giving decent results, but the process of getting there is just absolutely horrible. 0/10 would never recommend these to anyone, ever.
