I didn’t do the first day but thought about it all day so decided it was a sign to start today. So even though I haven’t prepared at all and will not be able to do all the days, I’m gonna play anyway. So today, I went with Trade Winds. Because it has a boat. I couldn’t find any Old Spice dupes even though I know I have several. Hopefully this will do. I’ve kind of missed this place so it is nice to be back. Now let me look at the calendar and get myself prepared

This may be my first time using Convergence. I can’t smell anything right now and don’t remember what it is supposed smell like, but it is bison tallow, so checks the box for today. Declaration always lathers so well.

And I used what is probably my next to last time for my last square bottle of Reserve Cool. I also only have one non-square bottle left, which makes me anxious

I thought I didn’t have anything for today and then I saw some other people using Cella so I joined the group. Now I just have to figure i out what I can use for Vetiver. This is what I get for waiting so long.

My favorite discontinued base is Barrister and Mann Reserve. It is fussy and needs lots of water but I will take it over anything before or since. And the aftershaves going away makes me heartbroken.

An honorable mention is whatever the West of Olympia base was that was used for the seven deadly sins. I’m still waiting for the rest of the sins :)

An easy and basic shave today. Nothing special

I use this soap once a year, not because I don’t love it but because I love it so much. Easily one of my top 5 favorites and it is so easy to lather and smells like chocolate. Whenever I use this I go with an unscented aftershave and I can smell it all day. This tub is probably 5-6 years old and hasn’t lost any of that glorious scent (if anyone has some they want to unload, hit me up). I will probably cry a little when I empty this but at this rate I may have another 20 years.

I know today’s theme is drink inspired and I definitely think this is more coffee than tobacco. I always feel like this probably even tastes good, even though I haven’t tried it. So if Garrett happens to be reading this, if you ever decide to make a return to soap making, do this one!!

I was resigned to just not have anything to use today and then remembered I had this sample from MLS in a stash of stuff I hoard because it isn’t available anymore. I’m not sure it has a lot of scent left because it is pretty old but it still lathered up pretty quickly. There are so many good products that aren’t around anymore. MLS always had cool products and stuff that was just a little different than everything else.

Maggard’s starter kit, like so many reading this, was my entry point into wet shaving. And I still use all of that stuff pretty regularly, 7 years later. As a matter of fact, I intended to use London Barbershop today, which was my first soap, but there wasn’t enough left to lather. My orders have been fairly reasonable, except some of those Black Friday buys. Those get a little out of hand.

I’ve done back and forth on this soap and thought for a while it was pretty terrible smelling but today actually thought it smelled pretty good. I’ll try to quiz later but just looking at it, I’m not going to do very well

I totally switched gears and had intended to go with YRP today. But this one fit the song better. I get this stuck in my head far too often.

Snuff is such a fantastic song and Corey’s acoustic versions are so good. Perfect for shaving or just life.

I don’t know what spring smells like where you live, but here in Central Kentucky (and Eastern KY) it smells like allergies. And London Razors perfectly captures that beautiful scent that makes me sneeze. All kidding aside, this stuff is great. It is made by SBS and it is a thirsty, thirsty soap but damn, it is good. Smells fantastic and like everything you imagine spring to be around here.

• Post Shave: Barrister and Man - Reserve Spice This is the only shaving cream I had. It is pretty lackluster and just smells like chemicals but I’m sure it was free as part of some trial so the value is close to the cost

Executive Man was the second soap I purchased when I started and it is still one of my favorites. It has to be the longest lasting scent of any of the Stirling products and that is definitely a good thing.

It has been hot lately so this felt pretty good today. I don’t typically care a lot for these soaps and can’t lather them for shit. And today was no exception. But the cooling was nice.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. Today’s shave was this Arko stick. I don’t remember buying it but I’m sure it is older than me. I topped it off with some proraso red aftershave. I’m not sure how long Proraso has been around but it smells old

This stuff is so damn good. I have quite a few tobacco scented soaps and this is the cream (non-dairy, of course) of the crop. It just smells “manly”. Whatever that means. I think it smells a little like my grandfather, who worked as a night watchman at a tobacco warehouse for some years in the early 80s and I would go to work with him sometimes and sleep on this old ratty leather couch. But everything smelled like tobacco at the end of the night. But not in a bad way. It is a scent I very much enjoy and makes me a little nostalgic.

I went with another of the West Of Olympia selections for RIP day. Today I chose one of their one-off offerings. I think this was made for a shave meet up for a PNW group. He nailed the scent and I think this may be the first soap to use the base they went on to use for the deadly sins soaps. My memory isn’t great so feel free to correct me if that isn’t the case. It definitely is a different base than Tobacco and Coffee or Greyscale. It is a pretty phenomenal soap and u/OlympiaWest used to be pretty active around here.

I had nothing for today. And I’m scrolling through and see the post from u/rocketk455 and the defense of Picture Day and figured why the hell not. It smells like clay or dirt to me. But I have a terrible sense of smell. But it smells more fern-y that it does barbershop-y to me
