I’ve had this Parker for a while and never actually tried shaving with it. Things were going mediocre, at best, and then I got to the mustache and things went even worse. Alum block was necessary for sure after this one.

I got this soap as a toss in on the bazaar. It’s not labeled and I never asked who this was made by. Consistency is very soft, almost like a cream which is most similar to Black Ship Grooming of the soaps I’ve used. Thing lathered up great, so maybe I should try and figure out who it’s by.

Lather: 13ml water

This soap is marketed as a late spring/early summer soap. Grassy and watery scent, like a lake or..cove in the late spring or early summer. Great base on this soap.

What was interesting is that the loaded brush weighed less than the damp. Must be the water leaving the brush and going onto the puck that outweighed however much soap I loaded. Busted out the syringe for measuring the water, and this soap could have taken on more if I felt like it but the lather was nice regardless.

Good old Barbasol. Used it for so long with a DE razor. Honestly this stuff isn’t so bad.

My ideal scent is something almondy with a little bit of citrus or lemon or something else just to brighten it up a bit. Almond Creme from Stirling and Cella red come pretty close. Still looking. Going to try and make a trip out to Maggards this summer to sniff out my favorite.

Don’t use this soap often for one reason or another. The scent lasts for hours and I can still catch a sniff of it late in the day. Definitely has a unique vanillaesque scent.

Stacked my pirate treasures on top of each other with my razor made of the most precious razor metal out there.

I wasn’t planning on participating in this year’s lather games as I have some inconvenient and lengthy international business travel that starts today. I started following the posts and shaving in July 1st and opted to just keep it going. Loaded up a bunch of samples and scooped out a few of my tubs to try and hit all the themes while I’m out and about. Timing will be interesting, I’ve got about 24h of airplanes and airports until I get to my final destination.

This soap has “spice” as one of the scents. Which one? Who knows, but spice is spice, count it!

This is my weirdest hobby in terms of mass market popularity. I’m into bbq if you consider that a hobby, recently purchased a standard Webber kettle bbq as smoking on the pellet was just set it and forget it, whereas charcoal cooking seems like a better and more useful skill to learn.

I don’t have a kitchen right now because I’m traveling for work all week. I’ve got all my soaps sitting on the counter so housekeeping must think I’m a bit weird, but probably not the weirdest thing they’ve ever seen. Since I don’t have a kitchen, I shaved where the coffee pot is, using my reflection in the glass from the hung picture over the coffee pot. All in all, not a great shave.

This soap smells almost exactly like Earl Grey tea, it’s pretty wild how close they came to it.

I’m honestly not sure what patchouli smells like. I’ve had a few soaps that feature it, but it’s always mixed with other things. I like the scent though so I guess I like it.

The name of this soap seems French to me, and I know the French are protesting regarding changes to their pension, among other things right now. Also, I’m flying through France on my way back to the states tomorrow. Take the Power Back by Rage Against the Machine is my song pick today. Good luck to the French.

This is a really mild razor and I’ve been shaving every day, so all in all not the end of the world having to shave against the grain on the first pass. Thanks for the free pass on the neck, that would have been brutal.

This soap has the perfect amount of cooling agent in it for me. I don’t think I could go much cooler than this.

My favorite YouTube sensation is Michael Freedberg, though I’m not sure if he’s posting anymore. I watched a ton of his stuff when I went down the wetshaving rabbit hole a few years ago. He’s got the one up on visceral watch because of the scarcity of videos.

I don’t have Osma and don’t know what it is, so I’m not sure why I would wish to have it besides to fit in with my internet stranger friends. I keep an alum stick and a styptic pencil on standby in the event I need it due to a rough shave or cuts. Generally speaking I don’t use these products as part of my normal routine.

This cream sample is a few years old now, and despite being stored in ziploc bags it is finally starting to dry out. Put a drop of water into the sample before storing to see if it can be revived.

This is a dupe but I don’t remember what of off the top of my head.

I usually hydrate my lather until the peaks cannot hold their form and immediately collapse and fall over on themselves, but not enough water so that peaks can’t form at all. It’s a nice, slick, cushiony balance that works for me.

Today, I had to bring my lather to the point where the peaks maintain their form and create mountainous peaks of lather on my face. This I consider to be pasty and not hydrated enough for my preference. Shave was still perfectly acceptable.

Had to shave with this soap two days in a row. For not pre planning anything this lather games I’ve still had a soap for most days. This has strawberry in it, and I’d say it’s more of the green part of the berry as opposed to a ripe strawberry smell. This is a great scent, great soap, great splash. SW is awesome stuff.

No challenge today, though these are starting to get really good.

This is the only soap I have a matching EdT for, so I get complimented on it the most. The soap, splash, and EdT all smell the same to me, and I love it! I think people probably like it for the same reason I do, it’s a really fresh, bright, scent that is full of life and joy. Three days in a row with this soap.

I’ve also been getting fabulous shaves with this razor. It’s really mild and with shaving every day this month it is doing a great job of keeping my face looking and feeling good.

Great lather today too, loaded heavy since I knew I was going to take a picture, and I face lather so much was still on the face.

Edit: also want to give a shout out to today’s sponsor. I have more full tube of NO than any other artisan. Great quality of products and all the scents are agreeable to me.

I got this smoosh in a trade for last year’s lather games for this day. I stored it in a ziploc bag with my other samples and busted it out today and smooshed it into a lid of a Stirling sample jar. It lost some of its moisture but I was surprised at how well it lasted in storage and that it still had scent, though I’m unsure how strong the scent is supposed to be. There’s still some left, maybe I’ll just put the lid back on the sample jar and wait for next year’s lather games and see how it survives another year.

I shave with different hands depending on what side of the face I’m shaving, so the shave itself was only a bit awkward. I did, however, opt to load my brush and face lather with my non dominant hand. Loading was comical.

11 shaves on this blade too, started to feel like it was starting to struggle on the chin but though today.

This sample has turned more into a thick paste now and I was able to rub it into my face easily enough to produce a nice face lather with the brush. Despite being a little dry it lathered up in a jiffy and still smelled really nice.

I was recently in India and asked around for a popular local shave product and this is what I was told. This was a gift set that included the 50g travel sizes of cream, balm, a disposable razor, a face wash, and a tote for the equivalent of $6.

For the bonus I tried using the disposable razor and immediately threw it in the trash and swapped to my Gamechanger, which is the least expensive of my current DE razors. That disposable was so bad I can’t even describe the feeling. Most of my synthetics are around the same price so I just picked the one with the cheapest handle (I think).
