Final shave for MM24 March. I had major thrill for AyLM when I started. The labels seemed cool, the scents seemed interesting and it was so expensive that it had to be good right? I probably added various sets to my Maggard cart a half dozen times but never pulled the trigger, except for a few samples. Once I tried the samples I quickly realized that it was just soap and my thrill ended. I was happy to try another one of their scents this morning from the traveling sample cache. Matteo 9:11 has an herbal scent to me, nice but nothing out of this world. The name and the frankincense and myrrh scent notes make me think this is a Christmas soap of some sort? Anyway it performed fine and I had a nice MM24 shave.

Was only one obvious choice today. I know u/mammothben didn’t intend to create an Easter scent here but I suppose it was inevitable. Thought about this last night at the Easter Vigil.* Ben’s stated inspiration was coming out of the covid lock downs. Many thematic parallels here to the start of the Vigil taking place in the dark for the first ~1/3, emerging into the light after the Gloria. Add in the spring and rebirth elements in Alive and you get the idea. A wonderful scent and perfect for the day.

Letting u/j33pguy13’s brush dry out so I can send it to the next person. The wonderful thing about these pass around is I can learn what I like. I’m not sure I could have articulated what gel is prior to this, but now I know it’s more like what my v18 is and why I prefer the v20 (but only by a bit).

*Amazingly both kids did fine. Youngest fell asleep towards the end. And there was an incident outside where I tried to get him off my shoulders and he knocked someone in the face.

The month of MM24 shaves is over. Blade is going into the blade safe now. Last few shaves were feeling tuggy, and had louder toast buttering sounds. It still shaves, but I’ve gotten all I want out of it. Went out to a restaurant in 200+ year old Inn for Easter brunch. It is one we often go to for special occasions. It is a neat old building and most of the original rooms and additions are now dining rooms. Each room is decorated in a different theme too, horse racing, Revolutionary War, carriages and sleighs, and can’t remember the rest. We had a nice late brunch. Hope everyone else had a great day. Back to work tomorrow after a whole week off. Probably won’t shave in the morning, but might give myself an extra spritz of Le Male in the morning.

Last shave of MMarch24 and I decided to ride the victorious pachyderm out of the arena. I’ve loved every shave with this awesome little Frankenrazor. After a month of using it, a perfect shave is almost effortless. Certainly a lot of the credit goes to the razor, but it did emphasize the value in sticking with a single razor for a while so you can really get to know it. That said, as much as I love this razor, I’m looking forward to spending a little more time with my other razors and trying out that weird square handled razor with the magnets.

The little B2 was great tonight. Last time I was a little underwhelmed with it, but tonight it was great, so I guess the jury is still out, but I’m more optimistic now than after the last time I used it.

Shire smells fantastic. And even better, it got the thumbs up from my wife. I need to order the fragrance so I can smell like this for longer.
