    Sometimes you've got to go back to basics or time travel to the before-times of wetshaving. The tub of Proraso called out to me this morning and I answered it. The shave was perfectly fine. I even started debating whether I wanted to go old school for AA and do an Italian August with Proraso, MOAR BOAR and either the GC or Valynor razor. I might just be the glutton for punishment around here to pull that off and it's a safer experiment than, say, an ice kamisori. Check back with me on August 1.

    I'm shamelessly using u/djundjila's setup from here. It is remarkable how each of the notes play off one another. I really enjoyed this scent journey and will definitely revisit it.

    I started with an unintentional slurry lather. I hydrated the brush the way I would for Omnibus, but then realized I was dealing with Excelsior. The lather for the second pass was better, but the mix up didn't affect the shave either way.

    I used B&M yesterday so thought I would roll with the otter this morning. The cannon smoke was especially noticeable this morning. The lather was right on this morning. I am not real imaginative but I finished it off with some Clubman.

    Disappointing loss yesterday for the otter. But he played hard. B&M is going to be hard to beat and I’m torn whether HoM or Stirling is most likely to take down our sub king.

    This brush continues to be interesting to me. I’ll defer to its owner and our sub Brush expert but it strikes me as having tips that are more medium gelly than not. I did do a face lather today and it holds water like crazy. I didn’t really have to go back to my sink to get a crazy slick lather. I did have to go back to the tub as my initial load just didn’t work.

    #MMarch24 rolls on entering the final countdown phase. This blade is getting beyond where I like it but with only 5 shaves left I’ll keep on keeping on.

    Precision Load; Face Lather; WTG/ATG/Cleanup Passes; BBS Result; 24th Consecutive / 298th Overall SOTD Post

    The GEM blade was extremely inefficient today, but a significant number of cleanup strokes salvaged a BBS. If this was a DE, I'd have given myself a severe case of razor burn, but surprisingly I escaped irritation-free. I really want to see how far I can push this blade, but I'm about to start a week-long vacation (to visit my wife's hometown). To be safe I plan on using a new GEM blade on vacation, but I plan on revisiting this blade once I return home. Happy shaving and have a wonderful day.
