Crowne & Crane has a very easy-to-lather base, and Deep Ellum is a fantastic scent. This along with Peppered Plum are must tries. The Deep Ellum opening reminds me a little of Nordost, but it continues into a woodsier place. Followed up with the earthy Druantia, where the orange and ginger tied the scents together. Finally, Monarch capped off the shave and I got compliments from the Mrs.

I wanted to shave with something not in the top bracket. This is the second time I have shaved with this set. It has a spice scent to it. Scent notes says gunpowder but my sus nose gets none of that. And the aftershave is very soothing. And I sure enjoy the spice scent. And the lather was very nice.

Second day with the pass around brush. I really enjoy the splay.

Really loving this Quarter Moon knot from TnS. Super soft with just the right amount of back bone. This is what I was hoping for when I tried a Tuxedo knot in the past, which may have been close in softness but had more flop than LeBron James.

Yesterday was a bit of a stunner but here we are. My “shave with the other guy” shave today leaves me only one option: Cerberus. Luckily my wife (who is not a fan) is at the office. Though I’ll probably still smell like this when she gets back from her happy hour.

Was thinking about brushes after u/jwoods23’s side by side yesterday. I think the V20 is becoming my favorite because it’s a hair softer with a tiny bit less backbone than my V18. Just feels a bit better. I never thought I’d get that picky about a brush but here we are.

I typically avoid dupes, for a range of reasons, but I'm thrilled that I scored a set of this r/wetshaving exclusive. I haven't tried Guerlain Jicky, but I love this AG 1889 interpretation. The texture is smooth and powdery, there's some lively citrus, the spices are exceptionally well-blended into the mix, and the expected animalic stank is almost undetectable to my nose in the soap. I'm guessing that for me, this is the kind of vintage fragrance that benefits from the complete lack of progression you get putting it in a shave soap. A suggestion of that rumored urinal cake vibe is present in the aftershave, but I don't mind it. Digging this all around.

Another lovely and smooth MM24 shave. I'm not sure that I've ever tried Samhain before but it's a really nice pumpkin-bourbon-sandalwood mix. Gotta give credit to Southern Witchcraft's Scent Production Division for their ability to take things like pumpkin and banana and do something interesting with them.

Yesterday's matchup non-selectee is today's choice, so DG Weinstrasse is up. I was very happy with my lather, but my shaving technique was off and I settled for DFS. I non-tricked Weinstrasse with Heather and Legend and thought they went well together. Happy shaving and have a wonderful day.

After yesterday’s lopsided win for Noble Otter, I had to bring out Declaration Grooming today. I really like this set. Each product seems to bring out differences in the fragrance. I think I get the most patchouli from the soap, but more citrus and rose from the splash and EdT. I rotated in a couple brushes. I haven’t used the copper one in a while. One thing I really like about it, is how it holds heat better. This would be a great brush when I ever get a scuttle. Very good shave today.

It’s spring in Ohio and I’m still freezing my balls off. It can’t be a middle-age thing. So let’s use a springtime fresh scent to warm things up.

I debated whether or not to take a vote on pushing this GEM blade any further beyond 44 shaves. I figured if I asked a stupid question, I’d get a stupid answer, so I’ll keep it going for awhile longer.

Here’s a late-night pro tip for all you noobs out there. Don’t buy a puck of soap at the grocery store when shopping with your spouse. It only leads to questions.
