I hope it will help make the last week of August go quickly. Using Mammoth soap and an MMOC is certainly not a punishment, but I would like to get back to being able to choose what I want to use after two months of pre-planned gear.

My wife took the kiddos this morning (oldest to school, youngest to run errands) so I got a nice quiet house to shave in peace this morning! Pushed things on my chin with an ATG pass after my first two. I didn’t get a super close shave but definitely working on my technique for this last part of the Month of Weckoning!

Brush before shave 25 and lathered after first pass.

Pretty good again today. Blade is feeling duller, but still shaving. I got a bit of irritation on my neck though. I spent a long time scrubbing my face and building the lather. I added lots of water and took close to 10 minutes working on it for the first pass. Very slow Friday afternoon shave, but was an enjoyable shave taking my time for both passes. Sonder has gotten me many compliments from my wife and daughter this month. They really like this one. Now some may question their judgement, as they both like Tabac, and my wife liked Midnight Stag when I sampled it.

More road shavin'. Nothing eventful about the shave itself, but we did have an unfortunate event nonetheless: the appearance of the dreaded ring of death. This is rather sad as it means my shaves with this gorgeous soap are now definitely and visibly limited, and I hate to see a good friend go. There have been some very nice people on here who offered to help me source a replacement tub, and I will need to take one lucky poster up on that offer very soon.

Besides that, nothing much to report. I suppose we're now officially less than 7 days away from the end of this marathon, so there's that. Counting down the days before I will have to farewell this beautiful set for a bit (or at the very least have it enter a less frequent rotation in the effort of preserving it). Starting to think about what my first shave in September will be. Some of you have been talking about that for a while now, but I've tried to stay away from it because I didn't want to get tempted. It'll be a tough choice for sure.

25 shaves done. It both feels much longer and much shorter than this, which is good, I guess. I’m very much looking forward to the Personna being done. Dammusi and Dundy could continue on, though. I won’t, but, I could.

We buried my wife’s grandpa today and he was a good guy. Hadn’t spoken to him in years as he has been mostly gone for a long time (he battled parkinsons, dementia, and had a stroke 2 years ago). Shaving tonight after the funeral made me think that I wished I’d gotten into this hobby a bit earlier and I could have asked about his shaving habits. He was stationed in Germany in the early 1950s in the military (not sure which branch) so I have to assume he was standard issued some Gillette kit for use over there. I honestly didn’t know he’d served until today. People have stories and even though we didn’t see them often I wish that I could have heard more of his. Every time I go to a funeral I’m reminded of the importance of treasuring the time you have with people while they’re still around. So – fine friends, treasure your people, whoever they may be.

AA Mileage: 110 miles. Got 8 today. Forced myself to go ride even though I’m exhausted. One more ride this weekend then hopefully every weekday next week to close out the month.
