    Happy hump day! While normally I'd be dreading Wednesdays, this one's actually kind of special since I finally get to take a few days off after it's all over. Heading down to the 'big smoke' tomorrow morning and likely spend the weekend there before going right back to hell on Monday.

    Kinda exciting but also dreading the eventual return to a mountain of unfinished work. But that's an issue for me a few days from now. Right this instant I'm just happy to be shaving with a great set of gear.

    It'll be interesting to take this set on the road with me. Normally I don't travel with a whole tub of soap and bottle of balm - I just use my supply of samples when I'm not at home. This'll be a bit different!

    Also, let me put you on something if you're still looking for a bowl: these French onion soup bowl/mug thingies are great. Yeah, they're not textured inside so you'll need a bit more effort to get a lather going, but they're nice and spacious and that handle is perfect for a solid hold. I got mine at an op-shop for $2, and there were like 3 more of the same set there to grab. Absolute bargain for how well it works. Just beware of the clanging of plastic on porcelain, I guess.

    Although the blade is not dragging, it's not really able to give me a close shave in 3 passes. I went back to tub lathering and moved the crescent moon of soap around. The lather consistency was well better that way.

    23 Days in. Another day, another shave. Zero issue shave today, the GEM is on complete autopilot. I really like this razor! I switched up the fragrance to Brass & Soul, and I find it compliments the Fu Dao scent amazingly. Have a great day everyone!

    Brush before shave 23

    Today is my last day of vacation. I should have taken the whole week off. The brush is loading quite well now, but while I can splay the knot, it takes effort and is very scritchy. Lather tonight was great. Shave was pretty good on the face, but it remains just ok again on the neck. I should have taken the kitchen scale up to my bathroom to keep track of the weight left. I’d estimate between 1 and 2 grams per shave. By the end of the month, I think I’ll be down to half or so left in the puck. I’ve been using a dash or 2 more splash than normal, so making a dent on the bottle.

    It’s Hump Day. It was a hot day here even though we just experienced a hurricane literally two days ago. Shave went well but my blade is starting to show signs of slowing down.     8 shaves left. Honestly it’s mostly autopilot at this point. I could push harder to learn some more passes, etc., but I’m going to ride out this awful blade and work on pushing my technique forward with a better blade. Good shave, though. Dundy and Dammusi are still excellent – pics of Dundy in the main SOTD photo.

    Busy and full but very good day today. Highlight was the local fire dept. setting up a ladder truck and hose to make a giant sprinkler at the local park. I was able to take a late lunch and join my family for it and was the only dad who was joining in with the kids (a few moms). Hesitated at first then thought, screw it – if other dads want to stand off to the side, I’m not going to say no to my kids so I don’t look silly. Was an absolute blast.
