Decided to precision lather today, because of the moving ring of death. The lather was too thin and the blade did also not feel at its best potential. Shave was rather okay. I miss my straight razors.

Would you look at that: we're in the single digits to go until the end of Austere August! It feels like yesterday that I was surprised about making it to Day 10, and now we're more than two thirds of the way through this 'challenging' gauntlet.

It's a bit too early for the big month in review, but on brief reflection I'm pretty happy with how I've been doing so far. Good shaves, great set. Really re-discovered my love for this Aristocrat Jr, too - a beautiful piece that delivers a dang smooth shave.

Anyway, I'm absolutely knackered. Big day today once again (sensing a pattern here?) and the celebratory drinky I poured myself on a whim is just making me sleepy.

Brush pre shave 22

It was a nice and slow shave on a day off from work. After spending yesterday walking all over Six Flags America in Maryland, I slept in a little today. I spent at least 20 minutes on the shave today. I got a good shave, but I think I need a sharper blade to cross into great territory. No significant irritation, but it wasn’t the closest shave. I tried different angles on my neck today. I had the blade skewed slightly on the passes and it didn’t grab or tug as much. The brush is still pretty stiff, but it is getting easier to build up a good amount of lather. I gave myself a dash more splash today. There was a bit of a green note today, not just the creamy(vanilla-ish) lemon/citrus I’ve been getting all along. Still liking this scent a lot.

We’re in the single digits, friends. We have got this!

I can’t believe the month it’s been, but, tonight as I shaved I considered whether it would be worth it to purchase a full Sextoblade to get the heavier weight, bigger scales (?) and the whole deal to pair with my kismet. Me! The guy who almost quit after 3 days. Here’s the lesson, and it’s what I knew at the start: learning new things is hard. That’s it. Nobody knows how until they do so just try new things.

Super deliberate, mindful shave today. Managed to have a decent shave in spite of the dying blade thanks to that and some good lather. If I keep up this deliberate approach I think I’ll get to the weekend ok. Next week is gonna be rough.

AA Mileage: 102 miles. Easy 5 miles today for some daily exercise. Broke 100 miles a solid week early compared to last month. Let’s see how far I can get.
