Let my little brother watch me shave. He can remember lots of things I told him and asked about the hair type of my Brush. Let him try to figure out how to open the GEM, but he failed. The shave was not as comfortable as on day 11 and before, but the result was very good.

13-08 - Easy like Sunday shaving

Featuring the return of my frag in the photo. I do use it every time, I just find it doesn't fit in well in my photos due to its colour clashing with the purple. But hey, I'm running out of ideas.

Not much to say this time around. Lather might have been a teeny tiny bit too dry, meaning I had to re-apply some during a touch-up around my jawline. In my defence, it's Sunday - I got a bit lazy. That said, even an underhydrated Tusk lather is 100x better than some other lathers at their peak.

Hope y'all are enjoying your weekend! We have a public holiday here tomorrow, but lucky me gets to work through it anyway. Fun.

I'm surprised how conservative this 24mm badger has been compared to my previous runs with a 26mm B&W and a 26mm unbleached boar.

No perceptible difference in the blade from when I started this month. Every day is a new record for me at this point.

Brush before shave 13

I got in my shave a bit earlier today. I tried a more acute angle. It did feel like it glides better on my face, but the neck is still tricky. I have creases at the bottom of my neck that are parallel to my pass direction. I can’t stretch my skin enough to flatten those bits. I’ll work on different angles and try having the blade skewed so only 1 point on the edge passes over those parts at a time. The last few days I’ve spent a lot more time on the lathering. I think I’m getting to about 80-90% of the way to how my lather usually comes out when I bowl lather. I think I’ll find my daughter’s water sprayer. I might get better control adding water that way, compared to dipping the brush in the mug of water. Soap and splash are still great. Nothing new today in the scent post shave. I might go out to mow now while the coolant is still freezing my face.

Another confession. The HoM aftershave splash is hands down the best of any alcohol based splash I’ve ever used. Amplifies the scent strength perfectly. Leaves my skin feeling great. And the menthol kick is such a perfect little finish. End of day shave as I had zero time today with the kids to mow down the face. Feeling great now before bedtime. Have a good night everyone!

Another simple WTG/XTG passes tonight. I am required to shave during the week for work so sometimes I enjoy not shaving one day on the weekend but between Lather Games and AA I’ll be shaving two straight months! This wouldn’t be too bad if I wasn’t challenging myself with the Weck this month! But here we are slogging through August trying to keep up the motivation every day! Thankfully this setup is absolutely incredible and not tiring of it, just the actual act of shaving…

Got 3-4 cuts – a couple of em are super minor and will be gone in the morning, another on my ear wasn’t great and then one heavy hander slice on the left side required a bandaid. I’m beginning to be nervous that I’m going to end up with permanent scars for this stupid challenge I don’t even care about.

Blade is getting scrapier by the day. We’re not even halfway yet, I really don’t know how it’s going to hold out.

I was able to do a decent downward pass and then my hybrid across and against the grain pass was fine, aside from the few slices. I really think it has more to do with the blade than my technique at this point but I haven’t read enough SOTDs from Weck folks to know if it’s the same for all us Personna users. My chin is surprisingly getting easier. What was impossible to navigate day 1 has become not impossible, I suppose.

Dundy pics is still great. Notice the sick bandaid from where I stupidly pressure washed my arm the other week. Fun times.

Another bad lather day. Definitely didn’t load enough soap. Did WTG and ATG. The ATG went totally fine on the neck, on my cheeks it really sucked. I think it’s because the lather wasn’t slick enough for the lack of tautness I was able to get on my skin. Not great at the skin stretching thing. So I’ve got new things to practice for a while, but I think this style of razor is going to be ATG on the neck and XTG on the face after the month is over.

AA Mileage: 64 Miles. Took a day off from the bike to play some pickleball today. Think I way overdid the exercise in the heat this weekend. Really appreciating Sonder today, it’s like a sweet treat capstone on a day that was really hard work. This stuff legit smells like a lemon bar tastes in the best way.
