Brush before shave 13

I got in my shave a bit earlier today. I tried a more acute angle. It did feel like it glides better on my face, but the neck is still tricky. I have creases at the bottom of my neck that are parallel to my pass direction. I can’t stretch my skin enough to flatten those bits. I’ll work on different angles and try having the blade skewed so only 1 point on the edge passes over those parts at a time. The last few days I’ve spent a lot more time on the lathering. I think I’m getting to about 80-90% of the way to how my lather usually comes out when I bowl lather. I think I’ll find my daughter’s water sprayer. I might get better control adding water that way, compared to dipping the brush in the mug of water. Soap and splash are still great. Nothing new today in the scent post shave. I might go out to mow now while the coolant is still freezing my face.

I went for a luxury shave today. Took a full 20 minutes. Two, thick, super-hydrated lathers, extra time enjoying the brush while lathering, and a slow, light, very low angle razor while shaving. Love the result. Really enjoyed the experience.

Again, no SOTD photo today, and no edge photo either. Two lazy to do the former, and no need for the latter. The edge remains in status quo condition.

Today, the battle took a different turn. It felt as if I've become a prisoner of this relentless #WAR, the razor and soap now my captors. But I won't let them break me. I won't surrender to the sting of defeat. Despite the challenges, I stand strong, resolute in my determination to conquer this trial.

As the razor met my skin, I faced the harsh reality of my situation. The blade, once a trusted ally, now seemed to test my limits, inflicting a small cut, a reminder of the struggle. The soap, laden with the scent of #WAR, a constant reminder of the fight I'm in.

But I won't back down. The warrior within me remains steadfast. I maneuvered through the shave with a fierce resolve, refusing to let the difficulties of this day consume me. It may have been a struggle, but I faced it head-on, determined to emerge with my spirit unbroken.

I was unreasonably worried about my luggage getting delayed and breaking by AA streak.

The Kismet is still going strong, but I think I'll flip it tomorrow (when I'll have had 19 shaves with this toe, and 18 with the current heel as toe) to see whether I can feel a difference.

Thankfully this setup is absolutely incredible and not tiring of it, just the actual act of shaving…

August 13, 2023 – Lucky 13

Got 3-4 cuts – a couple of em are super minor and will be gone in the morning, another on my ear wasn’t great and then one heavy hander slice on the left side required a bandaid. I’m beginning to be nervous that I’m going to end up with permanent scars for this stupid challenge I don’t even care about.

Blade is getting scrapier by the day. We’re not even halfway yet, I really don’t know how it’s going to hold out.

I was able to do a decent downward pass and then my hybrid across and against the grain pass was fine, aside from the few slices. I really think it has more to do with the blade than my technique at this point but I haven’t read enough SOTDs from Weck folks to know if it’s the same for all us Personna users. My chin is surprisingly getting easier. What was impossible to navigate day 1 has become not impossible, I suppose.

Dundy pics is still great. Notice the sick bandaid from where I stupidly pressure washed my arm the other week. Fun times.

Another bad lather day. Definitely didn’t load enough soap. Did WTG and ATG. The ATG went totally fine on the neck, on my cheeks it really sucked. I think it’s because the lather wasn’t slick enough for the lack of tautness I was able to get on my skin. Not great at the skin stretching thing. So I’ve got new things to practice for a while, but I think this style of razor is going to be ATG on the neck and XTG on the face after the month is over.

AA Mileage: 64 Miles. Took a day off from the bike to play some pickleball today. Think I way overdid the exercise in the heat this weekend. Really appreciating Sonder today, it’s like a sweet treat capstone on a day that was really hard work. This stuff legit smells like a lemon bar tastes in the best way.

Day 13 - Very smooth and easy shave tonight for the most part. The only slight issue I'm having which is a carryover from last night and it's that the blade feels significantly rougher on one side of my face. It didn't start doing that until yesterday and I wanted to see if it happened again today and it did. I need to put marks or stop mid shave and flip it to see if it's me or this garbage Personna.
