Today, disaster struck on this battlefield of shaving. It's as if I've become too comfortable with this #WAR, too familiar with my tools, and that familiarity bred carelessness. I let my guard down, and as a result, I paid the price, nicking myself three times. It's a harsh reminder that even in the midst of routine, we must remain vigilant, for complacency leads to mistakes.

Despite this setback, there were moments that shone through the darkness. I managed to achieve a close shave, a testament to the skills I've honed through these days of relentless shaving. The awkwardness I once felt when wielding my tools has begun to fade, replaced by a sense of familiarity and confidence.

In general, the day wasn't all bad. I navigated the challenges, emerging on the other side with a renewed determination. The battle continues, and sometimes, even in the face of disaster, we find the strength to rise again.

As the twelfth day comes to a close, I reflect on the ups and downs of this #MonthOfWeckenoning. It's a journey of growth, of learning from each experience, and of finding resilience even in the face of setbacks. Tomorrow, I'll step onto the battlefield once more, armed with the lessons of today, ready to face whatever trials lie ahead. Until then, my journal, I'll keep my focus sharp and my determination unwavering. Onward, through the storms and the victories.

A quick 2 pass speed shave after regrouting my shower floor before company arrives. One tiny weeper on my Adam's apple that stopped bleeding by the rinse. Finished the shave in about the same amount of time a 2 pass DE shave would have taken. That makes me happy.

I tried another slurry lather shave. 13 minutes. I loaded too heavily which required adjusting the lather hydration on both passes. Naturally, this made more of a mess which triggered my OCD and diverted my attention from shaving. Then I got carried away with enjoying shave-feel on the first pass. I was actually surprised at the 13 minute time. I expected to find that I had spent 20 minutes on a "quick" shave today.

~~Stockholm~~ Solingen syndrome is starting. I found myself thinking that I should just use 70th Anniversary until it is gone. And I think I'm Wecking my appreciation for my growing straight razor collection. Straight razors. Who needs them? You have to strop them, hone them, keep them from rusting. That's an awful lot of bother.

No SOTD pic. I had an idea for a simple composition, but ran out of energy yesterday. I have added a photo to the edge album, though. This is more of a status photo than one that shows something new. I think the edge feels slightly duller than when new, but the condition is pretty stable.

My youngest turns 4 on Tuesday (gasp) and her party is today. Risked a shave pre-party (starts in 45 minutes) and all in all it’s good. No razor burn or major blood that the styptic couldn’t stop. Just a few minor nicks, not bad.

Brush before shave 12

I reopened the weeper from yesterday. Otherwise, it would have been a decent shave. This month has been teaching me that neck beards are underrated. If I was just doing the sides of my face, this would be pretty good. I feel like I’m getting the skin on my neck as tight as I can, but it just grabs the blade sometimes. I’m stunned I haven’t cut up my neck much. The weeper was probably just a little bump I shaved off. I think a little flinch sideways when the blade gets stopped would be a disaster.

Brush doesn’t seem much different the last few days. Still pretty stiff and scrubby. This Semogue is going to take more time than the Moar Boar to break in fully. On the plus side, my lather was really good the last couple days. I do make more mess face lathering, but I’m getting more patient about building the lather. My Weck has decided to start losing the chrome plating. It has a bare spot that flaked off, and the area with the engraving of the name is starting to look a bit off. Hopefully it is brass under the chrome. It looks like it might be.

Super standard shave today. I think the XTG has finally caught up with the WTG in terms of technique. Gonna try my first deliberate ATG tomorrow and report back.

AA Mileage: 64 miles. Got 12 miles today. Was trying for more, but ended up super gassed after 6 miles and had to make the safe decision to turn around.
