A third of the way there! Getting really comfortable with my WTG/XTG passes, I need to start working the ATG more but right now enjoying not cutting myself!

I think I’m getting a little nose blind to Sonder, I use this very regularly but having a hard time picking it out during the day now. Still a fantastic scent but not getting it as much as normal.

Another beautiful shave. This Weck can provide BBS results at impossibly low angles. The width of the spine allows this. I've never used one, but I would think that a frameback straight razor has a blade thickness that is only a little wider than the Kismet blade. So I think one could get edge and bevel geometries that are similar to the Kismet, but the spine width on the Weck might be its real feature.

This is the first day that I'm not providing an update to the edge album. I can't find any significant change from yesterday, so my comments (in the album) from yesterday's image apply to today.

The only thing new that I can offer for today is another SOTD photo attempt.

Well, ain't this a day for the books, folks. Today marks the 39th anniversary of that legendary flick, Red Dawn, hitting the screens. Ain't it funny how life imitates art? Here I am, battling it out in this #MonthOfWeckenoning, just like those Wolverines fought against the odds in that movie.

Today's two-pass shave had that same gritty determination. We might not be fighting invading forces, but this #WAR against whiskers is no small feat. As I ran that Weck razor across my face, I couldn't help but imagine myself standing side by side with Jed, Matt, and the rest of the Wolverines, taking on the challenges that come our way.

The trusty Omega Pro48 brush stood strong like a battle-hardened comrade, ready to face the rigors of this daily battle. The lather, a familiar scent of #WAR, served as a reminder of the mission we're on, a mission that requires us to persevere through thick and thin.

Today's report might not be filled with grand revelations, but it's a testament to the resilience, the spirit, and the camaraderie that keeps us going. I came, I shaved, and I conquered, just like a true Wolverine.

As the tenth day of Austere August comes to a close, I can't help but feel a connection to those legendary rebels on the big screen. We might not have Soviet tanks rolling through our streets, but we've got our own battles to fight, and we're doing it with the same determination and grit. The Tenth Day Of Weckoning is upon us

Almost a third through the Weckoning and I'm reading fewer stories of struggle. Granted, 7 soft hearted individuals have up after the first day, but since then, only one more person gave up. So I'm guessing, the Weckoning is working it's magic and participants are becoming more at ease with this razor?

Had another great shave today. I've never used a Kismet blade this many times before (16 as of this shave) and I'm waiting for some deterioration, bit I can't feel any yet. I'm thinking I'll flip the blade soon, to see whether i can feel a difference between the end that's been the toe all this time and the presumably fresher current heel.

Brush before shave 10

10 shaves down with the Weck. It is just the 12th straight/shavette shave I’ve done. No faults again, but still not a comfortable shave. When I bring out the safety razor again next month, they will feel easy. I’m getting more consistent with the face lathering though. I’m starting to get more than just the citrus and benzoin. I am starting to pick up something I’d just call green, fresh cut plants. Once the citrus fades, maybe I’ll get a bit of the sandalwood, but fresh after the shave and splash, the vanilla notes of the benzoin are covering it up I think.

I am wondering how well the blade will last. Now it is wider than a GEM blade, so the edge does less overall travel on the face. Maybe it will still feel ok when I have 3x the shaves on it.

August 10, 2023 – It’s becoming a pattern

Pretty much exact same shave as yesterday. Not quite DFS to the touch but it looks DFS to the eye. If this is the rest of the month I’ll be happy. Everything started to click when I started taking the time to deliberately go WTG then XTG instead of just top to bottom on one pass and bottom to top on the other. Gonna have to start trying some ATG at some point for the practice, but I’ll save that for another week probably.

AA Mileage: 52 miles. Took a break from riding today, gave the dog two extra walks to make up for it. Tomorrow is likely the same plan.

Cut free 2 passes tonight. Both times I’ve wanted to quit the next shave has been a fairly big improvement. I don’t know what I did different to make this better, a lighter touch, perhaps? In any event, no new cuts or really anything bad. This could have been a morning shave and I could have gone to work not looking like I’d gotten in a fight with Edward Scissorshands.

I did slice the tip of my left wring finger which is very annoying as I try and type this. Carelessness will be the death of me.

Dundy (pics) was great again – this knot is just a really excellent boar. Not much more to say there or about Dammusi for tonight – it was excellent. The splash really stung (I didn’t bleed but that doesn’t mean it was a perfectly smooth shave) but the cooldown right now with the complexity of the scent wafting up is really nice.

Anyway, it’s been a long day and a long week. Off tomorrow so I’ll get to “sleep in” until 7 or 7:30. Should be lit. Have a good night all.
