Nothing new to say...literally. Using the same stuff everyday is nice in the sense that I don't have to seize up trying to decide what to use. I usually don't overthink my brush or razor choices and my post shave is pretty much the same all year long anyway. Where I freeze is trying to choose a soap. That is another indication that I should get rid of most of my soaps and just keep a few. I'll never use all of them anyway.

I don't have a lot to say today. During the first pass I thought I detected a little less sharpness in the blade. I slowed down to get a little more feel but this had the effect of giving me an even closer level of BBS . Today's edge photo indicates that I was just fooling myself. I was tempted not to make an edge photo, but I just had to know.

The most important part of my day, listening to the Lather Games Wrap-up Podcast will have to come later.

In the ongoing saga of Austere August, today's two-pass shave followed a similarly efficient pattern. This time, the shave took place during lunchtime, a departure from the usual routine. As u/j33pguy13 says, "Noon shaves hit different," echoing the unique experience of shaving at an unconventional hour.

The two passes executed with the Weck razor remained effective, delivering the desired results. My reliable Omega Pro48 brush continued to perform well, although it shed another hair or two during the process.

Much like the previous day, today's report is succinct. I faced the challenge head-on, completed the shave, and emerged victorious. As the ninth day concludes, I am reminded that consistency and determination are key in this #MonthOfWeckenoning. Until tomorrow, my journal, I shall continue to navigate this path with unwavering resolve.

Brush before shave #9

I went into the office for the first time since May today. I’ve been staying at home to help my wife who is unable to go back to work yet. I got a lot done there at least. Today’s shave started with a drier brush for loading. It needed several additions of water to go from pasty to a nice lather. Again no nicks or weepers, and not a lot of burning from the splash. The coolant in the splash feels wonderful after a day wearing pants and a long sleeve shirt at a warm office. I can smell the scent better tonight, but still not getting any of the nuances beyond lemon and vanilla/creme. I think by this many shaves last year with Alive, I was getting a bit of apple out of it. Maybe I’ll try a spray of the EdP later, and see if I can get something else. Still really like this set though, but I’m hoping my nose will get more distinct notes at some point.

Y’all I think I might’ve had a good shave today. No cuts, minimal alum or splash feedback, lather was good, actual smooth strokes on the XTG instead of skipping (I think I've finally got that angle right). I don’t know what to write here if I’m not complaining about this razor or the blades.

AA Mileage: 52 miles. Got 6 more today, went super slow. Started with a crazy headwind so I decided to just take it easy. Probably going to need to take a day or two off so I can try for 15 miles on Saturday, but I’ll decide that tomorrow.

Dundy was great again, breaking in beautifully. Raw Hoggin is a great challenge.

Dammusi, also great. Mammoth Mafia is a great challenge and I’ve been proud to bear the flair for the last year. It’s a real shame that quitting the weck will get me DQ’d from Mammoth, too. It is literally the only reason I’ve used the weck for all these 9 days.

Weck – sucks. Not fun, not good, not pleasant. That’s all.

Day 9 - Fairly solid shave this evening I think. I keep trying to evaluate how I feel about this Personna blade on a day by day basis and it just seems to change every day. It’s doing the job and giving a passable shave that sometimes turns out better than others. It’s just not the most comfortable blade I’ve ever used and I guess that’s just what’s bothering me at this point. This would’ve been one of those you pulled from a sample pack and gave it 1 shave only to toss it afterwards.
