June 28, 2023 – US Old Spice

• Brush: r/wetshaving Zentih MOAR BOAR 31mm

• Lather: Zingair Man – Bon Monsieur
• Post Shave: Old Spice – Classic

I was going to write a bit about how I realized I actually hadn’t used US Old Spice in years after being in CVS and buying a bottle because it was on sale but… that’s pretty much the entire story. Still smells different (not bad) and still leaves my face feeling a bit dryer.

However, I almost didn’t splash any Old Spice on at all because the scent of Bon Monsieur, which I picked up as a sample at Maggards Meetup is so damn stellar. I really, really like this one despite not being the biggest fan of most fougeres. I’m not sure why this one works so well for me but I pick up the fir in it and that always wins me over so maybe that’s it. Just stellar.

First time using the Sego base as well and it lathered well, though I’m regretting using my MOAR Boar on it since it ate up like 1/4 of the sample and now i have less of a scent I really like.

This soap was a sort do PIF/trade with u/Unitedstatesghost. Some unwanted tubs of stuff I haven’t tried and in exchange I gave smushes to help fill in lather games calendar.

It was a good shave. But I had that experience after the first pass where moar boar just didn’t have any soap in it anymore. Was a 35 second load so I was stunned but… Nothing. So another 25 seconds and I finished the shave. One small nick that didn’t present until the after the rinse.

It’s LG PRACTICE time again so #fof and #roty. No photo contest today.

Side by side comparison of Gen 1 & 2 Guerillas. Interesting results! In using the Gen 2 on its own a couple of times, I would have sworn it was more efficient than the Gen 1, but using it side by side did not show that to be true.

I used the Gen 1 on the right side of my face, and Gen 2 on the left. The first pass is where I saw the biggest difference, with the Gen 1 leaving shorter stubble. Subsequent passes resulted in an identical shave.

Tomorrow I'll switch sides to take into account technique.

The winner for this shave - Gen 1. It fits my preference more, as I like mild, smooth feeling razors. Gen 2 is not aggressive, but it edges a little closer to a medium feel.
