June 26, 2023 – No Mo FOMO

Day 2 using my new to me brush and it continues to impress. I went straight for face lathering, which I usually do with CF soaps. A 35 second load landed me enough lather for 2.5 passes and 2 passes on my upper chest with a ton left over. This brush is gonna make leg day so much easier. Still dialing in how to hydrate with it, mostly because of its size. I do want to see if I can make bowl lathering work because I like my scuttle but even if I can’t an every other day rotation with my badger would be awesome.

Let’s get to the end of the week and the start of lather games. Even my kids are asking when it starts.

Today is actually my anniversary but my wife decided to schedule a work trip...

I forgot that I have a very limited window for mentholated soaps—hot enough to want the cooling, but not so hot that the air conditioning is on—so I should be using Kryptonite as much possible. Excellent Mammoth Monday shave.

Tomorrow might be the day for this tub of soap.

I'm using this Gen 2 Guerilla on loan. I have a Gen 1 and the differences are interesting. On initial impression, the Gen 2 fixes two problems that the OG has; difficulty loading the blade, and efficiency. The Gen 2 is much easier to load, and gives me a closer shave albeit with more blade feel.

Also different is the overall finish. The newer version appears to be slightly darker, and it's possible that it was tumbled in order to improve the appearance. If only there was someone I could ask!

Both heads have machine marks all over the place, so if that's a deal breaker for you then give this razor a pass.

Pleased with this shave today. The ProPro is a great brush and has become my daily driver. It just lathers up so quickly and so well, make it easy on days I don’t want to wrestle the MOAR.

It’s more humid than a sweaty buttcrack here in Central Wisconsin today so I went with a nice cool shave. It hit the spot. Shave was ok, nicked myself several times because I’m use to the lite plate vs. the OG blackbird, but, it is what it is. Off to coach some T-Ball and Pitch Ball tonight so I’ll get nice and sweaty again and take my 3rd shower of the day before unwinding from a busy Monday tonight. Have a good one, y’all!

I'm going to call this my real first time with a slant, my actual first time was with a plastic slant which I handled abysmally. Not quite grasping at that point that exceedingly lightweight razors really just weren't my cup of tea.

This one however is heavy, I think it's been termed the 'Sledge Hammer', which I am happy to agree with. I had a bit of trouble finding the angle initially but once there it seemed to perform very well. Only hiccup was a bit of irritation on the ATG pass on the neck, but seeing as this a bit of a problem area at times I'm not not going to condemn it just yet. 

I'll see how it goes as I get used to it, but so far not bad at all.

Getting in some LG PRACTICE while breaking in some new hardware and software. I’ve been anxiously awaiting my Dammusi order and it arrives just in time for the first true lather with my new Chisel and Hound brush. I have to mention the girlfriend as she spoiled me on my 40th birthday and got me this brush after watching me forgo the Dammusi drop brush. I have to say I might like my “acer pearl” a bit better with its beautiful maple and resin. First time with a badger. I think it will be properly broken in by the end of LG. Still warming up the Dammusi off the puck but the splash and dry down is awesome. Is this where I put my #ROTY hashtag? Cheers! 🤙
