My office moved to another city during my summer break, and my commute went from three minutes to one hour each way 🤮. This means that my morning shaves have now become very (too?) early morning shaves. I'll have to get used to going to bed earlier to start enjoying them again.

Grand shave this morning, I was hoping to be able to try out the new bridle strop plate for the supex, but sadly it arrived damaged. On the plus side the store is sending me out a new one tomorrow and doesn't want the other one back. I do like good customer service!

Straight shave twenty-eight and it was probably my best one yet. Two full passes (WTG and XTG) with an additional partial ATG pass on my cheeks and it was delightfully uneventful. I ended up with a great shave and zero nicks or irritation which I believe is a first when going any direction other than just WTG.

Yesterday, after the first pass, I was convinced that my beard felt less close than normal. But, after the third pass, I had a terrific BBS result. Today I vowed to do my normal 2-pass shave to see if shave quality had dipped below excellent. I was a bit stunned by how good the result was. Extremely close to yesterday's 3-pass shave.

I'm equally stunned by today's microscope image.

Wow was it a hot one today. At 5PM it was 98F here. Our community pool closes after Labor Day, so it was the perfect time after work to take my daughter to the pool. It was great. After an hour in the pool, came home and shaved before I was fully dried off. Great shave to cap off the evening. Lather was very good. I’m seeing more of the logo peaking through, but not going to kill the tub this month. It may take a few more shaves than August. I’m guessing I will have around 75-80 shaves total on this tub of Sonder by the time it is emptied. The splash still has at least two thirds left too. I’m guessing I average under .5ml per application.

3 to go. Basically a bloodless shave tonight. I think about the early shaves that sliced and diced me (and I have the scars to prove it) and how far I've come. It's been a month full of solid learning.

I do wonder how anyone ever learns this aside from hobby-ists; like, who sticks with slicing themselves up unless they have peer pressure pushing them?

Super easy shave tonight and made some really good progress in the intentional usage department. I might actually empty this one out! Also decided to change over to a Naniwa 12k to finish out the month as I bought that stone and hardly used it. Actually a very, very comfortable edge on that first shave and I’m sure it’ll only get better.
