Excellent one this morning, noticeable difference with the 2nd refresh, once again could have stopped after one pass. Still loving the Beloved, though I'm eyeing up some of the others in my storage.

Low effort photos recently, it's been a bit of a struggle to put some time into it with the inlaws here and prep for the little ones birthday. The Mrs wanted to go all out so we've been getting stuff prepped for the last week. Fingers crossed for the last week of AA I'll be able to put a bit more time into it!

22 consecutive uses, and I'm still not tired of this software. This is surprising considering the last three years I ran AA, I am fairly certain I was whining about monotony already. I've had this tub since 2021, and while the Mammoth started peaking out a couple of days ago, there is still plenty of soap left.

The knot has finally loosened up a bit. The initial backbone really ate a hole in the middle of my tub, even when consciously trying to pick up from the edges. I've made minor changes to my process for it, but it's fine. It's fine. I know some folks love it. I don't hate it, but I'm not there yet. I do love this (p)handle, though.

The razor is still chugging along. The 17 is one of my favorites, so this really hasnt felt like much of a chore. My stropping count has increased, but there no reason to assume I won't be able to finish the month. I am curious to see this edge under the scope compared to when it was fresh when this is all over. It will get touched up, at least, but I'm genuinely curious how badly it will actually need it.

Straight shave twenty-two, and while I’m not ready to declare complete victory, this is getting to the point where I am regularly getting predictively good shaves. Still not quite to the point that this is the tool that I would pick up before a date night or interview, but I can at least glimpse that on the horizon now.

Photo with the aftershave bottle twisted a bit so you can see the level to see how much I lost yesterday. The last vertical pic I had was a couple of days ago and had the level just below the top of the label, so it looks like I dumped about an inch down the drain when the restrictor fell out yesterday. The restrictor is not cracked or anything, but it is super loose and useless now. I’m not quite sure what was holding it in before, but whatever friction was there before is gone now. No idea how or why. If I hold it down with my finger, it still works, but I’m going to need to tape it down or something because there’s no way that I will remember to do that after a period of not using it.

There’s a few scents in my collection that I think I wouldn’t get tired of using. Sonder is on the list of course, and I’d add Barrbarr, Alive, Shire 2, Rawr, 42, Cheshire, Y/R/P, Thè Noir et Vanille, Roam 2, Black Watch, 3 Scots, Bell Ringer, Prom King, and Roman Spice. A lucky 15 listed there, and while there are other scents I really like too. Oh wait Baker Street plus Lavender & Bergamot. Well, I guess there are more, but that’s a great line up for me. I think if I include samples, I can go at least 5 months without repeating a soap. That is both the hardest and best parts of Austere August. Difficulty, no variety for a whole month when there is an abundance of choice, but great that I don’t have to choose too. I only have 1 shave planned for September so far, so I will have to deal with the hassle of choosing each day.

Shave was again very good today. Lathering is getting easier now, but it still takes longer for me to dial it in compared to bowl lathering. Not much irritation, and have an insurmountable lead with 18 bloodless shaves to 4 with blood. Unless I miss counted. It might be 17-5.
