The edge has hit its stride and – at peak smoothness now – is a joy to use. I like hollow grounds for their gentle touch, and I like heavy blades for their smoothness ATG. When a comparatively light blade like this one gives you a smooth fool's pass, you know the edge is on point.
I saw and photographed split tips in the brush a few days ago, but I can't find them anymore, and the brush seems in no hurry to start a mass splitting event. I'm starting to feel impatient.

Someone made a comment on W_E yesterday along the lines of "I always see people recommend Stirling but I never see anyone use it." That person has apparently never peeked under the covers over on this sub. Hell, I might end up doing a Stirling September for shits and giggle just out of spite to that person.

$BarnyardChallenge musical inspiration provided by Gruntruck, who were criminally underrated during the grunge era. They were from Seattle and revered by the other local bands of that time, but they never caught fire like the big names. One of their videos did make it on to a Beavis & Butthead episode, which gave them exposure. Two great albums in the early- to mid-90s and then a 2017 release after the death of lead singer Ben McMillan. I'm going back to their Push album for "Body Farm".
I think I'm going to sip some coffee and listen to this Gruntruck album. Try to enjoy your day and remember to be kind to one another.

Tried my hand at honing tonight. I started with 3 of my other vintage razors that needed a better edge. The two I honed before seem a bit better now. The third I think needs a whole new edge. The honing on the higher stones didn’t improve the edge very much. I’m going to go down to 1000 grit and work backups again. The Friodur honed up pretty well. I used 8000 and 12000 before stropping. Might not be as good as the edge it came with, but wasn’t bad at all. It shaved much better than the last few shaves for sure. It was probably the smoothest shave this month. I need more practice, but so far feel like I haven’t wrecked any of them.
Here’s the brush after 19 days. I got a great lather tonight. It still takes some effort to splay, but tonight had the best lather of the month.

Today I decided to have a bit of an experiment shave where I changed up my shaving angle (brought the spine away from my face) and pushed down more on the brush. The result was a thick but airy lather and a close shave with a slight increase in irritation. I think I prefer this angle because the irritation is so little but the closeness is very noticable. I won't be sticking to this lather method, I used to have a mister spray bottle that would make my lather perfect but my mom stole it so I've been trying to learn the manual way. I'm going to add the discord tag because I don't have much time before bed.
