    The Ern's edge is holding up well, my technique is improving greatly, and the B36 is breaking in nicely. That said, I already miss variety in my setup.

    Week 2 in the books. Up to 25 shaves on this edge today. Took me 4 passes, but I think that was due to a slacked third pass more than the edge fatiguing. Still no irritation, complaints, or concerns with the Friodur.

    It’s 6th Grade Day and we welcome all the new students to the building. A relatively uncomplicated day for me with a solitary 6th grader coming into our unit. But the other six kiddos come back tomorrow and it’s back to full throttle.

    It might be safe to say that I’m no longer a Novice straight shaver and well into Advanced Beginner and I’m happy to keep learning.

    Straight shave fourteen and it was the smoothest yet. Two pass WTG and ATG which is exactly what I do with a DE, and for the first time with a straight the results were comparable to a good DE shave (minus a few points for cutting myself a few times). I can definitely say it’s starting to feel more comfortable now, though that comfort is probably leading to overconfidence (see the cuts mentioned above).

    Surprisingly I’m not getting tired of the monotony of AA. Rather, I’m still enjoying this setup (both software and hardware) each day.

    First day of school for the boys here and they both seemed excited to go back and see their friends. I’m excited to have a quiet home office again…

    Well, I guess all this stropping business is highly overrated. Here is the microscope photo of the razor's edge after 14 days without stropping. You can look at the album to compare today's edge to photos of the same area in the past. My shaves have been as consistently good as this edge since day one. I did not expect this at all.

    Did a soap weigh in after lathering. Averaging 2g a shave but I also rinse so it’s most likely less. Tomorrow I will weight before and after before I rinse to see where I’m at.
